Soft Eggs, Chicken Feed Formula, Baby Chick Water Recipe
Lee's chicken eggs were coming out soft. Drake says add more water-soluble calcium to the feed or water. Oyster shell burned to powder works too, and seawater covers the mineral gap since calcium is a metal, not just chalk dust.
Drake replays a 2011 Kim Chang video on chick feed. Day one to three: brown rice only, unlimited. Day three to fifteen: chopped bamboo leaves added to stretch the gut. Day three to fourteen: boiled egg yolk, sieved fine, standing in for mother's milk. After two weeks, feed shifts to roughly 30% fresh greens, 30% fruit or sweet potato scraps, 10% fermented imo, and 30% store feed. Coop floor gets three inches of straw (cut under three inches long), a dusting of IMO4, and ventilation running from the floor up to the chicken's beak and out a top vent, same rule as pig pens.
Korean workshop footage covers the adult mix: oyster shell for calcium, decomposed granite for grit (chickens have no stomach acid or teeth, so the crop needs grit), rice bran, leftover tofu for protein, seawater, and 200cc calcium phosphate for strong eggs.
Then the baby chick water recipe, mixed live: per 10 liters, fermented plant juice, 500ml OHN, calcium phosphate, brown rice vinegar, a five-herb tonic (angelica double dose, licorice, cinnamon, garlic, ginger), and lactic acid bacteria. New chicks land on a pile of brown rice, not bare floor. Waterer holes tilt down so chests stay dry, since wet chests cause pneumonia. Chicks that eat their own droppings get sticky butt, fixed with a warm wet rag. Pen size starts small and expands every few days so chicks size evenly by day 15.
Questions answered
- 6:09 Lee's chicken eggs are coming out fragile — what's wrong? — Soft eggs need more water-soluble KNF calcium in the feed or water to harden the shell.
- 7:47 Why does calcium matter for eggshells? — Calcium is a metal, not just chalk powder, and oyster shell plus seawater minerals keep shells strong.
- 12:23 What's the KNF chick feed formula for the first two weeks? — Brown rice only the first three days, then chopped bamboo leaves and boiled egg yolk through day fourteen.
- 16:44 What do you feed chicks after the first two weeks? — About 30% fresh greens, 30% fruit or sweet potato scraps, 10% fermented imo, and 30% store feed.
- 18:15 How deep should coop floor litter be? — Three inches of straw cut shorter than three inches long, one and a half inches for broilers.
- 19:41 How should coop ventilation be set up? — Air comes in low near the floor and exits a top vent, pulled by heat off a sun-facing roof; same rule for pig pens.
- 25:35 Can I build a wood-frame soil floor over a concrete shed floor? — Yes, no need to break the concrete — frame it, fill with 4-6 inches soil and 3 inches grass clippings, then scatter IMO.
- 27:56 Should I wait for comfrey plant juice bubbles to stop before decanting? — No, bubbling means it's already fermented, so pour it off now.
- 31:24 Why add sand or decomposed granite to chicken feed? — Chickens have no stomach acid or teeth, so grit in the crop grinds their food.
- 35:57 What is Animal Mineral D? — A seawater-based mineral solution, but Master Cho never shared the exact recipe, so plain seawater fills in.
- 36:45 How do you strengthen weak eggs with plant juice and calcium? — Add plant juice plus 200cc calcium phosphate to the mix, more if eggs are still weak.
- 43:39 What's the recipe for baby chick water? — Per 10 liters: fermented plant juice, 500ml OHN, calcium phosphate, rice vinegar, a five-herb tonic, and lactic acid bacteria.
- 51:21 Why angle the waterer holes downward? — So drips miss the chicks' chests — wet chests lead to pneumonia and more die-off.
- 54:52 What causes sticky butt in chicks and how do you fix it? — Chicks eating their own droppings seal the vent shut; a warm wet rag dissolves it.
- 56:14 Why keep new chicks in a small pen at first? — A small starting area keeps chicks sizing evenly; expand it every few days until they get the full pen by day fifteen.

0:30 hey good morning welcome to the office hours for december 8th 2024 still 2024 wow it was a good year hey getting there towards the end what do we got like three more episodes maybe for the end i don't know two i don't know who knows will we do a christmas and a new year's episode who knows what's up mark good to see you bridren good to be here so korean natural farming office hours we got an hour where you can ask any question about korean natural farming all kinds of
1:17 good stuff brought to you by the pure knf foundation join pure knf.org we are reviewing korean natural farming brought mostly into my existence by master cho ginger john dr park people texting me and um kind supporters like you so appreciate you all being here doing the good things. Start off with a bit of higher wisdom and then we will continue on with animals because we've been doing animals now that we've stopped the Medaj. So let's go and we got number 24, return. So today, hey, how's it everybody? So return, a time of darkness comes to a close.
2:05 receiving this hexagram as a sign you have reached a turning point this moment is akin to the winter solstice the greatest adversity is past and the light is beginning to return nonetheless one cannot force the completion of the change and it is wise to rest Act only when you can move gently and innocently And all will be well Fu also comes as a reminder to return to the light in yourself The light in yourself Growth is only possible when we relinquish the expressions of the ego
2:53 Which are pride, impatience, anger, and desire To act forcefully or ambitiously now will only generate misfortune. Let things develop naturally in their own way. Simply observe and accept changes as you observe and accept the rising of the sun. Allow yourself to rest and gather strength for a time of growth ahead. by holding to modesty gentleness and correct conduct you prepare the ground for a fruitful blossoming when the light fully returns yeah f you foo uh-huh resting 24 i was just talking about
3:49 that it's a good year 24 good year rest return all these things coming back into order places getting settled. Um, so, um, let's see here. Um, oh yeah. Wait, I had an idea. I just lost it. Oh, anyway. Um, so, oh yeah, that was it. So there is a membership meeting today, Sunday, it's Sunday, um, the second Sunday of the month. And, uh, that means that we're having a pure KNF membership meeting that is happening today today at 2 p.m. Hawaiian Standard Time. So not sure exactly what time that's going to be for you, but we will be having a monthly meeting
4:36 today, which means we get to zoom together, hang out, have fun, and no, no, no guests this month, but, but we're going to talk story and that should be good. So if you have other questions, I guess. I mean, office hours primarily for asking questions, but, um, I guess you can ask questions there too. And, um, that way I don't have to be the only one answering them. Multiple people can, I guess, just like this in the chat. So anyway, uh, thanks for being here today. Um, Hey, Thomas is in the house. He, he, he messaged me the other week, this week, this past week. I
5:16 don't know. He's talking about his love of K and F. Yep. I feel the same way. I just didn't text you back because you know i don't know why you know i can't do it all the time but um yeah and i started teaching across the street teaching some folks about how to do korean natural farming for kava and literally in one hour taught more stuff and enlightened people more than they had from the internet and people just, they, um, you know, I mean, I guess you could watch my videos and go back and watch them, but not that many people do. And when you do, um, you can learn a
5:57 whole lot because just in one hour, simplify that whole thing down and made it from this complex problem of like, what do I do to like, Oh yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Um, and then there's a lot of practice that you got to put into it to make it actually work for you. You know, you can't be making the recipes wrong. If you're making the recipes wrong, it's not, it's not going to help you, but so you still need some of that. Yeah. All right. And pony, emo pony, emo pony. Oh my gosh. Um, yeah. Um, so yeah, so it is, um, you know, teaching people natural farming. It's a,
6:37 I don't know. I just, that's what I do, I guess. Um, so Lee Schollard saying that his chicken eggs are really fragile. So we'll dive into that when we get in. So I'm going to go over the feed recipes a bit more. Um, we'll start, we'll start with some chicken feed recipes and then, um, but the basic, basic thing is if your eggs are soft, you need to put more KNF reproduction in there. Um, it really, it really helps to harden up their eggs. You don't want to put too much in because, but you can also put it into their water. So we could go over a drink recipe. Um,
7:18 in fact, um, yeah, also see, you know, everything, seawater also helps, you know, making sure they're getting enough salt minerals. Cause, um, basically the calcium is a, um, is a metal it's an alkali earth metal so when you think of it i always think of it as chalk as like this powder type of stuff and not realizing it's actually a metal but calcium is a metal and um so putting water soluble calcium into their feed or into their water helps them to stay strong some people also supplement by putting oyster shell in um if you watch last week we went over
8:03 that so i you know let's let's just start there that's a good uh a good place to start i was kind of going over the um all of these um what do you call things um oh gosh why is that happening okay um but let me go let me put this fix this up here get the sound to go this direction like that and then get this direction hang on one sec so I'm gonna pull up my channel here I don't know why it's on that account but I'm gonna go there no no no don't don't go away I don't wanna I was learning how to
8:52 make multi-cam cuts the other day so I'm gonna go to my channel here real quick. And, um, we will then go like this and go like that. So you can see what I'm looking at. And, um, so on the channel, natural farming, Hawaii, pure KNF, um, there is a real simple animal feed. Um, in fact, I don't know if it's even listed here though. So how, how would I expect you to find it. I don't know. Here it is. Popular video. It's a popular video. So 89,000 views on this one. So we'll go to this one. This was an old video. Oh my gosh.
9:37 What are you doing? This kid is like now an adult. Um, it's my dad 40 years ago. Let's see. Let's mute this a little bit. So what we were doing is this is Kim Chang rest in peace. Um, and she was teaching this was January 15th 2011 so talk about a time warp of you know been doing natural farming for a long time but this if you're looking for chicken feed let's let's so let's just pause this on what she's saying so she's teaching about chickens so the benefits of it are right here you know no odor no flies no cleaning no wastewater right you don't have to clean do any of those
10:19 things because the microorganisms are they do the cleaning um it says lower the cost uh you can lower your cost because you get you raise the digestibility index of the chickens um so um they're so pound for pound for food they're going to absorb more of that food so you can then subsequently feed them a little less. No artificial heating because the floor itself is warm. Oh, you know what? I should make my mouse like that so you can see where I am. But no artificial heating. Not that you need much heating in Hawaii, but you can actually use composting piles and compost things to do it without
11:04 so you don't need an extra heater. Although you will notice in the Korean videos they do put heaters in there because it gets freezing cold and we were there in, I think that was actually the spring that I was there, but anyway, it gets cold. They produce fertilizer. You can take some of the ground out, almost no disease, no medicines or chemicals, very little labor. So all these things combined because you don't have to clean the pens. You just basically put food in, put water in and occasionally supplement the chickens
11:35 a little bit and you ferment their feed. So that's what she's saying about this. Let's see here. So the coop, did I miss a slide? No, let's just go right there. I had it nice and zoomed in. Okay, there we go. Let's go right there. Okay, so coop should touch the soil. So you actually want to put, some people keep their chickens off the ground, but you actually want to put them in touch with the soil because the soil will then be this harbor for the microorganisms and it'll become this cycle where the soil microbes are breaking down the poop
12:15 and actually making food for the chickens right out of the soil. And plus you want the chickens to be in the soil because that's going to build their immune system and keep them from disease and all these other things. So their basic feed formula here is she feeds brown rice only for the first three days after they hatch in an unlimited amount. So you'll see it in the video today. We'll go through later. I think we'll get there. Is unlimited amount of brown rice the first three days. Then after that, between day three and 15, the first two weeks, you're going to add bamboo leaves.
12:56 And these are chopped up real fine. And we'll see a video of that. So we'll get to it. but this strengthens the intestines. The leaves are not very important, but they're sweet and it trains your chickens to eat grass. Then at day three through 14, you add boiled egg yolk for two weeks. So that first, after those three days, you're going to add, I guess, day 17 to 18, whatever you want to, if you want to be super precise with the numbers, but the first two weeks after the first three days the first three days is only brown rice and after that then you're
13:33 adding bamboo in and then boiled egg and there's a reason there's a specific way to do it that you add just enough bamboo for them to be like oh this is sweet or it's actually the boiled egg goes in first because then they start to frenzy for it they start to hit that stuff and before they eat all the egg then you drop in this bamboo powdered stuff there it like like really finely cut and i'll show you we'll see it but this is just an overview so small bamboo why bamboo can you substitute charcoal no it's bamboo leaves because they're sweet and they're not that digestible and
14:10 they make the whole point is this rice plus the bamboo is going to stretch their intestines and make tune them for high digestible, like high digestion. And the boiled egg is going to simulate the milk of the mother by giving them the egg because they don't, they don't nurse their, their, um, birds that come out of eggs. They don't have mammaries. They're not mammals. They're reptiles or birds, I guess. I think they're reptiles. If you ever spend a bunch of time with chickens you'll realize they're very related to dinosaurs um and so the egg powers them up if
14:48 you don't give them this egg i've i didn't used to do this egg because i didn't know about it and my chicks were always weak in the beginning because i was just feeding them rice and bamboo and then some other feeds and they were getting malnourished but you put this egg in there the boiled egg and you cut it real fine for them real small like push it through a colander or something make it real fine and the columnar is maybe not the right word but like a sieve type of thing make it real small and you will have the strongest chickens you've ever seen um so i'll let you
15:20 watch this if you want but let's go to this next slide here oh look everyone the where the most watched parts are where the slides are people must be taking notes or something so okay so let's see. So, so what is the, after, after that beginning sequence, right? That first 14 days, 15 days, you're going to add, you're going to start adding feed. And in fact, you can add feed after day, like, uh, after you put in the egg, then the bamboo, then the feed. Okay. Like, you know, it's, it's a, yeah, there you go. Guilty. He's taking notes. Um, that's, that's why
15:58 these places are the most replayed. That's must be where I actually zoomed in on the, um, on the notes and people just wanted to take the notes they didn't really care about the video okay so um so so what do you you give them 30 fresh greens 30 um fruits sweet potato or leftovers and 30 percent store feed okay so this here will reduce your store feed down to only 30 percent of what you were feeding them prior and this you know is the food leftover plus imos 30 actually 10
16:44 supposed to be imo um 10 is imo that's how you get 100 out of 30 30 30 10 is imo so but this is all fermented stuff um and um she says no run to hold down the laying rate um so but anyway this is like you know 30 of their diet what i just stick to the main things here 30 of their diet can be um grass like straight up grass shredded cut small if you watched last week that we showed him mixing the greens 30 is just uh fresh greens 30 is more foods like the sweet potatoes fruits leftovers whatever you got around that's the other 30 so this should also be
17:34 fairly easy for most folks like this could be your compost waste could be 30 of their food and then store feed you can just go ahead and buy store feed for me if i don't feed my chickens scratch grains their laying rate reduces significantly and so you know but figuring out what works for you balancing it but basically you know 60 percent of 70 percent of their thing can be right from there and then you know a little bit 30 percent there so this is going just basics you can kind of read this you can watch this video if you want let's see let's zoom into the next one
18:09 it's going to be here she talks for quite a while let's see what's the next this one was watched a whole bunch okay yeah here so she's talking let's see here this slide do I zoom in on this slide I must yeah here we go okay there I zoomed in on the slide because it's the most replayed area so um this is the floor of the coop let's touch the soil you want to make their floor three inches deep with straw one and a half inches for the broiler because they're not going to be in there as long but I still make it three inches it's just like you know it just makes sense she uses
18:45 of this straw here you could cut this straw you want to make sure it's less than three inches long though because it's longer than that it'll just the chickens can't turn it and it'll turn into a mat of poop and it'll just be a layer of poop that you can't get through and uh super gnarly on that end um and then once you put the floor down you put im04 which you probably saw last week of doing it going through and then she says one or two times a week spray the floor with um with food protectors and microbes. I do not do this. You don't need to do this. She says spring
19:21 to fall. You don't need to do this. I mean, unless, but if you ever do have the floor start to smell, do use this right here. And this is like the classic dilution ratios, one to 500, one to a thousand, one to a, you know, just sprinkle IMO in there. Just sprinkle it. And this will get rid of any smell that was happening. So if you ever have a problem where it starts to stink, this is the solution to put this down. And you don't need to do it one or two times a week. Just if it ever smells, you do this. Okay. And chickens eat the straw fermented feces and straw from time to time.
19:59 Yeah. So they'll eat the floor. So another part of their diet is actually the floor and the proteins and all those break down. So let's look at this slide. It looks like she's talking about the building and the airflow is very vital if you don't have air flowing in and leaving the gases the ammonia gas will collect on the sides and holy crap will it get stinky so what you want to do is you want to have the ventilation be coming in from the floor up to the chicken's beak so that's what like the bottom foot have an opening where air can come in and this should be on
20:36 the side where the sun's going to beat down the most on the roof because when the sun beats down on the roof is it will heat up and if you have like a tin roof up there it'll heat up and then the air will naturally flow in and rise when it gets hot in there and pull out the top and having a ventilation through your top is very vital that gets airflow to happen and all those gross gases that were there and whatever evacuate through the top and you will have a very good clean smelling chicken pen this also works for pig pens you just make sure it always
21:14 your ventilation always goes from the floor to the animal's nose and that way you will have good um and then and then there's a curtain here that she can raise and lower although i've never seen anyone do this outside of korea everyone just kind of makes their own jank thing um here. But I know if you hired Mark Reuter, he would make an amazing building for you. So it looks like then, what are we doing here? We're going through, she's, what is she doing? Let's just watch for a bit. I gotta sneeze anyway.
21:54 Looks like she is making sure that it is small. Oh, this is like a Bruder house? What the hell? I would not recommend this if this is a brooder house I don't know what she's trying to talk about here maybe you should watch it and listen see but definitely got good IMOs here man Kim looks so young it's incredible she has her IMO all that all her solutions up there and her beer bottles um let's see what is she talking about here I don't know something uh let's see what is she doing over here? Oh, cutting things up. Oh, maybe we're going to make plant juice.
22:32 Or do we make plant juice? Yeah. So she's making plant juice. Wow. Probably added too much sugar, but that's okay. Um, let's see. We move. Wow. This was a good workshop. Um, oh, then we went over to the chicken coop. So this is what, what one looks like that we built here. It's a Hubble bubble named after, uh, the, uh, amazing Mike Hubble. oh there's Nona oh my gosh this is so old wow we're old people now I can't believe it um yeah wow um so anyway you could watch this oh there's Dr. Eric Cleveland wow and Mahina Mahino is there oh my gosh and David Kata oh my gosh
23:18 wow this is this is an old one um yeah 2011 so she's just going through putting the IMOs down why I would have spread that a little differently but hey that's me so we built this hubble bubble and I would make a more durable roof this piece of plastic is not going to last very long but I would have scattered that with my hands as the IMO instead of doing it out of the bucket you see how it all clumped like that I would have just put like a nice dusting over the entire floor if it was me. Um, let's see what else. Oh, and then here's the, Oh, this is my water feeder. Believe
23:53 it or not, this water feeder is still in my chicken pen. This is my dad's in mind water feeder. It's still in our chicken pen to this day. Oh, this is because this is our place. This is our chicken pen going down. We just had a hut. This is our old one. We made this, uh, my dad made this hut and then we had the chickens and then I had that thing to collect their poop, but that's their feeder. We had the nice feeder and stuff. That makes sense. That's why it's ours. And I still have this laying box, believe it or not. This thing is still in operation. And that
24:26 tank, we make a whole bunch of JMS in that. I did replace this though and got rid of that little cutout there. And we did put a bar across this so they don't land a crap up there anymore. That makes sense because this is our place at the very end of the video. and we also was our roost there i saw roost was there a roost oh yeah there the roost uh anyway um yeah there's the roost uh we use pvc put it up on metal post zip tied it up so they could hang up there so doing most of the master cho things to do um so yeah so anyway that was that
25:12 video the feed i would i would recommend watching that one i i will uh i'll link it right here right now and so you can you can watch that if you wanted to um it's also it's popular 89 000 people watch that so you'd think that some people are doing this somewhere um so lee is saying um yeah yeah good good on you thomas doing good things there um so i have a shed with a concrete floor can i build a four to six inch square base perimeter of wood and fill this with clay soil save me breaking up the concrete absolutely um yes yes i would you know having a concrete floor
25:57 underneath's not bad just put um put put some soil down and then on top of that put um put grass clippings about three inches or so. So put, put four to six inches of soil. Cause that'll be great. Uh, and then put, uh, three inches of, um, grass clippings on top of that. And that will be an amazing, and then scatter IMO. That will be an amazing floor for your chickens. No need to break up the concrete, man. Leave it actually. It, I mean, um, it sounds good. It's up, Cecily. Great. Glad you finally made it in here and got the things, all those tech issues, man.
26:33 Oh my gosh. Okay. So, um, so anyway, that, that, that feed video, if you want to break it down, that was just a quick, easy feed video, but there is more where we were, um, the week prior. So let me go back here. I know I had it. Oh, here was it. Oh no. Cause I was watching that root video. because somebody else was talking about that. We were... Oh, man, too many tabs is what it comes down to. Okay, well, let me just do this this way. And just so if you're going to go back, go to my channel here, my channel.
27:18 And where is it? There's my channel. So you're here at the channel. or my channel um unfortunately I was raised wood floor but you can always put in soil and flooring on there on top of the wood you know um may not last this long but you can always do that um and all one in the same I made food from comfrey it's fermenting waiting for the bubbles to stop to decant. I wouldn't wait for the bubbles to stop to decant because if it's bubbling, it means it's fermented.
28:04 Yeah, I would have poured off right now and then super saturated. IMOs will eat your wood, totally. They will. So, yeah, IMOs love eating wood and cement. and foundations and making the soil loose um hey y'all what's up sarah g is that sarah gucker no is it wow hey if it is awesome if it's not hey welcome um so um yeah i was scrolling down i was losing my train of thought here but i am coming down to this playlist right so so this is the basic poultry playlist. This is one we're starting with. I'm going to go down here, put it in this. Oh, it's
28:51 not. Well, anyway, welcome, Sarah. What's up? So we were doing this one, number four here, and we were talking about the feed, right? So let's just tune in a little bit here because they're mixing the feed. We did this last week. I don't know if we, oh man, not that one. Oh gosh, no. Let's do this one like that. Yeah. So I'm going to go back just a little bit and we'll just watch some of this. Talking about the feet.
29:38 You guys can hear them good? Let me know if you can hear them good. they're talking korean and stuff chinese you know This is an oyster shell. Oyster shell burns and then makes it powdery. So the oyster shell will also help harden your chicken eggs.
30:24 Sand soil here. It's granite. It's decomposed granite. The chicken do not have the stomach acid. Hey, what's up? So the crop, you gotta make sure there's enough grit for their crop to grind their food. That's what he's saying. That's why they're adding a little bit of sand to the food.
31:24 They will buy a sweet tree. So when you have commercial feed, they have different kinds of, not this type, but there's some powdery or sandy material from granite. That's a lot of the companies that are not used to use a silverware, but also a silverware. Carbon. This is the animal 4. Two. Three. This is the 1.5L or 1.5kg.
32:14 This is 4.5kg. 3 of the sandy soil and 3 of this IMO4. This is the calcium out of the oyster shell. And that's broken rice. This is the leftover after the rice meal. Rice meal run. Yeah. It's not a powdery one. Yeah. Yeah. So that's the basic things they're adding in. We're gonna make three bags of the same time to mix it.
33:02 Then, I'm gonna mute them for just a minute here. Then they're also adding in the leafs, and then they also add in a bunch of quail eggs because they're a quail egg farm. Look at the protein content. And they're adding in a whole bunch of other things. So this is just a bit of like the IMO, calcium, sand, and the rice hulls there. Just kind of bulk up material, help them grind things up. That's what that's primarily being added in. and then they add this into the mixer and they do a couple batches out of this
33:38 so we watched this last week I mean we're watching it again sorry sorry if you were like tuned in last week but you know just to go through these I guess it's a good thing you were tuned in but you know it's always worth going over again taking notes doing the right thing so we'll go from here they're doing that and then we go over to the mixer and then Dr. Park comes over here and talks when they're going up the mixer. He's talking right here, too. So we'll watch this little bit of him. Let's see if I can get it right where the sweet spot is. Right here.
34:12 So he's going to come over and he's going to talk about what else is going in. This is a rice bread. 30kg of rice bread. I'm going to talk about the meat and meat. I'm going to talk about the meat and meat. Yes, yes. I'm going to talk about the meat and meat. Yes, yes. The meat and meat. Yes. The meat and meat. Yes, yes. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat. The meat and meat.
34:58 The meat and meat. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. And then, you know, leftover tofu, you can use that one too. Because everyone has lots of that laying around. The basic thing is to put some high proteinaceous type of thing in there. ocean water i'm also speeding it up now ocean water ocean water one liter
35:43 so calcium phosphate 200 mm OTC So, calcium phosphate going in for sure. That'll help you, Lee. Once a week, Animal Mineral D Which is also seawater. It's actually mineral A is seawater, but mineral D, we don't have access to that. Master Cho decided to not share that with us. Plant juice?
36:32 So adding in plant juice, calcium phosphate. 200 cc. Yep, 200 mils of that. So, got your calphos, your calcium plant juice. So, all those make strong eggs. You can increase it if you're having weak eggs. So, we watched this last week. They're going to go up this ladder here. They're going to go up there, and they're going to start mixing this. so we can see them dumping these things in and then they run it through this mixer.
37:20 So we'll just, we'll speed this up a little bit, watch them dump it in. This is a big mixer. It just goes around, mixes all the grass clippings, all those things into there. You can follow the previous feed recipe and that gives you a little bit more idea of how to use the other natural farming solutions. Hopefully, you know, that beginning thing where Kim's talking about it and then you actually see the koreans doing it where they're mixing in seawater eggs all these different things he's mixing a liter of seawater in you know not not the whole thing just a little you know a liter
37:54 of it just to wait wash everything down and then he's gonna that's the leaves that he just dumped over the edge he didn't dump it through the grate because the leaves won't go through the grate um and then you know you could do this at home mixing it with uh like a little you know without this fancy machine. What is the fancy machine doing? It's just stirring it and it's because he's feeding like thousands of chickens, right? It's just stirring it, mixing it. I don't even know if this mixer is doing that great of a job to be honest. Looks like it's kind of just pushing
38:24 the grass around. You know, I would do a tumbler type of thing versus like a spinner. I don't know. But anyway, this is something he made to make this and it mixes it fairly well and then they get these trash barrels and then usually this is fermented 24 hours. In this video, they're going to go and just feed it straight to the chickens right away. Um, but usually this ferments 24 hours and the IMOs that are in there and all those solutions, all that moisture goes and ferments and makes it more digestible. The, um, the microbes, everything makes it better. Um,
38:59 and they do that. Um, so we watched this the other day, they're going to go in and they're going to go and feed them, do the thing, you know, going through the mix. We watched them feed. but what I wanted to do this was the first day setting up the chicken pen so what I wanted to do was skip ahead here because we pretty much covered all this so I'm going to go down to the playlist here we already covered this so we'll go down and watch day 5 because I believe this is the day that the chicks arrived and or here we're talking about
39:39 a wait no let's go see wait what was happening was it was this the chicks arriving okay yeah so I'm gonna slow this down a little bit normal speed at least for me um so the chickens I don't know if you can see down in this bottom left corner maybe I'll pan down to it but the chicks have arrived okay so they're in these boxes they were they were shipped to us from a hatchery and these are the meat birds and they are down in that box so it's just set the box before we even let them out of their mailed box we're just kind of letting them sit there in the environment
40:14 letting them kind of adapt calm down get peaceful everything um so go with um so the the chicks are coming we are going to release the chicks which is great and and that's the cool thing about this workshop was that everything not not just talked about it but we actually did everything so you see that box down there that's full of actual live chickens I think there's 200 of them sitting down there in this small box and they don't need anything the first three days but we're going to give them just rice so when you see here let's go where's the
40:51 nobody's replayed this not enough people have watched this only only less than 2,000 people have watched this which is just like you know um hey whatever um maybe it's not mr beast enough they're not giving away money oh we're gonna crash a train into money giving away like i don't know what people want but um they don't want this apparently they don't want sustain but but anyway so the chickens are just gonna sit there we're gonna go someplace else and what we're gonna do is we're going to be making, oh, this is we're making calcium and calcium phosphate. And he's
41:29 going to pour way too much vinegar in this and it's going to bubble over. And this one not, but the other one it is. So we also went through all the recipes while we were there, right? So it's not just like learning about the chickens. It's also learning like deep Korean natural farming, all the recipes. He's going to pour in the correct amount, which is too much. don't ever pour in the correct amount of vinegar into the eggshells because watch he's going to pour this next one in with the correct amount and it's just going to bubble over so never do that
42:01 always pour in like a third of what you're supposed to do to start let the reaction happen for about an hour and then stop because even the pros make mistakes and he's just going to go because master chose there he's nervous he's just going to add the full amount and watch this thing just bubble over like nobody's business. Never do that. Never do that. He added way too much. And look at that, all that stuff going out. Never do that. Learn, learn from Mr. Lee. Don't just easy, easy, easy, but a classic, classic, uh, nervous to do things. Okay. So
42:38 So we're going to look at that for a bit and then let's go here. We'll skip to this place. Oh, what does it mean? Drinking something? Oh, so that's the other thing is we got to drink the kalfos and all these solutions to taste them. Let's see. What was that? What were we drinking? Was it kalfos? Let's see. Let's listen in. The baby was born yesterday. So if he comes right away, that's okay. but it's one day old and babies are kind of weak and tired. So you have to give us energy. Doctor, can we try? So he's gonna, I think this is the chicken drink that he's made specially for the chickens.
43:18 Let's see. Did we... Yeah, here. Let me go over to this right here. Okay, we're gonna go to the baby chicks water. So this is baby chicks water. Okay, so this here is very important. want to take notes on this one this in fact i am going to take notes on this one because i tell you to take notes but i need these notes because i have them somewhere it's just not accessible so let's go here let's let's write this down together or don't or don't you know whatever um so i know i have i know i have this somewhere i just i don't know where it is so this is um how to make water
43:57 for the chicks so if you just got chicks in the mail and they're thirsty as ever this is the recipe for you right here. the plants one or festival one. What's that coming in, number two? Number two is OHN, Oriental Herbal Nutrient. 10 liter, 10 quarts of the water.
44:48 So there you go. So this is the 10 quarts of the water. So he's gonna mix in, I only got four things written down. I think there's five on that board. Maybe I missed it. Fermented plant juice of the watercress. So does it matter if it's watercress? A little bit, it helps, but you can use any plant juice, any can of food from anything basically. This is the bay. Now, if you turn this one, it's 30cc. If you want 30cc, you'll be able to get it. So... It's 10 liters. It's 10 liters. It's 10 liters. So, plant juice going in. 10 liters, 10 quarts.
45:36 10 liters. That's 10 liters. So, he's just making up this for the baby chicks that we just got in the mail. and he's going to make a juice power aid for them. It doesn't matter. You can put anything one by one. OHN? 500ml. Okay. 500ml. Okay. 700ml? 700ml. Okay. 700ml deletion. So it's 15cc. So it's 15cc. So some medicine for them, strengthen them up, make sure they got good in the system.
46:28 This one has five herbs. Five herbs in there. Angelica, licorice, cinnamon, garlic, ginger. Five different materials, but Angelica is two times more. Two times more. Yep. See y'all know about that. cinnamon, licorice, and garlic and ginger. 15ml, 200ml. 200ml, 50ml. 50ml. 50ml. 30ml, 20ml. This is what? Okay, brown rice vinegar is 200ml.
47:19 So I get 20 ml. Is that right? 15 ml. 50 ml. 50 ml. 50 ml. Yeah. Yeah. 50 ml. 50 ml. 50 ml. 50 ml. Lactic acid bacterium. Oh, there we go. So you don't put profound sugar inside. 500 ml. Glaculation. 20 ml. That's what I missed off the first one with the video. There is protectors in there 1 to 500. So strong, twice as strong as usual. But animals can always take more than plants.
48:06 And if you don't have animal mineral A, just use seawater bro. So 1000 dilution, that's 10cc, 10ml. So there you go. So... If you... This is my notes, this is what I got. It's probably backwards for you, but that's what I got for the, you know, baby chick water. so uh so if you mix it then that's ready to give the baby chick just came that's the special treat so yeah because they're they're not just one day old
48:56 so this is going to revive them The baby was born yesterday. So if he comes right away, that's okay. But if he's one day old, then babies are kind of weak and tired. So then we're going to drink a little bit of it. because you can taste it but not the whole drink yeah Kenji oh yeah Kenji
49:46 yeah you're the other chicken he's gonna film me drinking it oh my gosh yeah mikey it's gonna be youthful now so um so hopefully that was good that was the uh chicken drink there and then he's gonna take this over and then now there's the baby chicks right so i want you to notice here there's this here i don't know if you see it but there's already a huge pile of brown rice that's probably like five pounds of brown rice that's already put down and notice where it is it's not out here in the yard it's right outside the door okay and so he's going to
50:31 fill up the water and then we're going to put the baby chicks and we're going to put them on top this pile of rice when they land it's like welcome to heaven we are going to train him so here's his water he's gonna fill this up in bottles and then put it in there I don't know if he's gonna do it right now but he's gonna make sure that their waterers are filled with this special drink so when they come out they'll be able to drink it so this is kind of a kind of a big moment of learning natural farming having the chicks come out you know and he you notice how they're not the
51:03 holes aren't straight up they're kind of bent back although I would have bent them the other way because they're going to have a hard day. But it's so they don't drip down on their chest. If the holes are straight up, they'll drip down on their chest. So he bends it slightly out. So here's the water. They're going to put it in, but then later they get water bottles and put them in there. It's a smarter idea of how to do it. You'll see that. But we'll skip ahead just a bit here. You know, he's going to fill up this water, filling it up, making sure the water's going in, doing the thing.
51:36 We'll skip, skip, skip. just pouring water super precise but i believe now that the water is ready i think now we're going to break out the baby chicks the the vent this ventilation's happening the heat's going the chimneys are set they're uh you know they are ready so the heat is starting to move through and up keep them warm this simulates their mother being there are we not going to do the chicks right? Okay. We're going to do the chicks right now. Is he still filling up water? Jeez. It takes all day. Okay. What's he doing? What's he doing? He's filling these things. Okay.
52:19 Let's go. Let's go. Okay. Okay. Okay. Is it time for the baby chicks yet? Come on. They're sitting in that box. I think he's stuffing the bottom of the, um, the chimney so that the airflow is just going up. He's putting a rag in the bottom of it. You can watch this if you want, but he's putting a rag in there. Okay. Oh, yeah. Okay. Let's go back. Let's see. Okay. So now baby chicks are here. Yay, baby chicks. Notice where he puts them. He doesn't just, he puts them on the pile of rice. In the house, on the pile of rice. They go on the rice right there so they know welcome to heaven.
52:56 This guy wants to help. They are going to go no no on the rice on the rice bro you're doing it wrong watch master show's gonna say oh chris why are you putting them under the house put them on the rice the pile of rice master show's gonna scold you man you have to put the baby chicks on the what are you doing why are you doing it wrong you're gonna get scoldings bro eventually you get slapped watch i don't know anyway um so here we go um baby chicks loading them out and putting them onto the thing. Look at them. Super nice little baby chicks. They're
53:34 going to come out and drink water. We'll get them all acquainted, but this, you know, what a talk talking about doing it. We're not just talking about chickens. We're getting chickens. Look at them. They're chilling. If you pick up a chicken, you want to pick it up from the front, not the back. Oh, that's me picking it up wrong. You can tell that's my hand. Apparently I did it wrong as well, I should probably get slapped. Loading them in. Load them in. Go, you're free. The best is to put them on this pile of rice when you start. You actually, like... Anyway. Joe, Joe's going to put some in.
54:18 Whoa, Joe, go Joe. No, he's just going to take a photo. He's not gonna help Let's see here so chicks chicks chicks going in yay We actually are doing it And look they're already starting to drink water. They're running around. They're doing their thing pulling out the box Look at all that crap in there. You gotta watch out They can get sticky butt if you leave them in their thing too long if they eat their own crap they will get sticky butt and then you have to take a warm rag and rub their butt to dissolve
54:52 the crap that seals their buttholes closed and you know a common way for chicks to die is sticky butt so you don't want chicks to be eating their own crap that's why you want to get them out of there as soon as possible for various other reasons too but um so look the baby chicks already coming out drinking water doing their thing they're exploring they're already coming out to do their thing let's see what is what is so we just just released some chicks into the box that we've meticulously prepared for them they're now in their new home very well loved very well taken care of
55:34 they're going to turn into strong chickens like the ones over here these chickens already prepared drinking water put them onto a pile of rice right here so they know they're well loved and the whole system is very well thought out Yep. So that's the thing. You see how this pen is just small enough for them. As they start to size after day three, he's helping them drink a little bit, showing them how to drink. They already know how to drink, bro. They'll figure it out. They're smart. And once a few do it, everyone does it. Chickens are very...
56:07 So, and then this area is small enough so all the chickens size properly. If you put them in this whole pen, they would get lost. They'd die. they wouldn't size properly but you give them a small area and then in a couple days three days five days you move this out and make it bigger and you move it out make it bigger make it bigger make it bigger until day 15 where they have this entire pen to themselves and they then are able to do this if you just put them into this whole pen they would die or not die they wouldn't size
56:35 properly and they wouldn't be healthy so this is very well thought of from their psychology of making it so they have their little yard they have enough space they can run around they can go in here and get warm they can come out there and get water yeah there's more chickens being released those are their laying hands these are our meat birds we later came back and ate some of these by the way and they're already eating the brown rice look at that they just hammering this thing and they will be full of brown rice look how cute they are oh my
57:11 gosh oh my gosh and see them drinking water they bend down that one that one drank water really well right on camera see see how it they they they bend down to drink and they tip up to get it down their throat it's very you know this whole thing is thought about how they how they want to be if you have waters where they just drink up and stuff it's like no they gotta lean down and then they look up to heaven and they drink. Very important for their health. And otherwise if their chests get wet then they get pneumonia and die and stuff. You have
57:47 way more chick die off. You don't want them to be getting wet. And with this many birds they're going to be thirsty as heck so we're going to put water bottles into there to keep it more auto water. Oh! I'm good. You want to take some message over here? Yeah, I mean, you can make the LAB stronger.
58:56 Good tip, Mark. Good. awesome man. So there you go. Baby chicks released, doing the thing, on the pile of rice, hammering the rice, having the drink, getting strong, revitalized. chickens on earth because they put into the most prime habitat we just spent all day for In the Muzhou, we come back on 23rd. Here with Dr. Clark. 24th in the morning, then we release the first block.
59:42 And then we give the bamboo, and believe that time. So here on this, cultural skills, best skills ever, hand-on experience. That's two friends. not only releasing the chicks but eating them right because we're going to raise mighty chickens so we're going to give the kind eggs medicine so yeah anyway that is how to raise baby chicks how to start, how to do it you know the whole animal series maybe we can cut this into something decent or end or you're lucky you're here learning about
1:00:30 this or whatever i don't know maybe maybe most people don't care we got the lowest view count ever here um december 8th maybe people are doing other things i don't know but uh thanks for being here appreciate you being here doing this um you know clearly people uh just want to eat antibiotic chicken from other people doing it but the people that do want to learn seeing it seeing how it's done this is like you know master chose forte his main thing doing the chickens uh the pigs the, you know, livestock is his main deal. You know, he's famous for other things, but
1:01:00 he's more famous for the animals. Um, so looking forward to seeing you later today. If you are here, we'll continue further animals, I guess, and just lower my view count to oblivion. Um, why? Cause I, I don't know. I like it. Yeah. Some people like it all on the same. Does it keep it up? Yeah. Um, yeah, cool. Well, um, yeah, thanks. Super chats. Thanks Lee. Thanks all one same. Thanks to everybody who's, you know, contributes, makes this happen. Part of the Pure K&F Foundation doing the right thing for the earth, for life, for animals, whatever,
1:01:34 you know. Um, and, uh, but I'm going to be out of here today. I'll be back in the office later today, two o'clock and see you for the membership meeting. Looking forward to it. We'll continue more animals next week, I guess. Actually, I'll be here next week, probably. Yeah. Most likely. I don't even believe in holidays. It's like, it's a holiday. I'm like, what? Oh gosh. Yeah, this is gold. I don't know. Um, but you know, uh, you know, so it goes, all right, cool. Uh, I'm going to get out of here, put this on this one and then I'll see you. So thanks. Love you. All right. Aloha. Bye.
