From the KNF library

Drake gives the ratio by weight: one part toasted eggshell to ten parts brown rice vinegar. (Office Hours Feb 2023, 48:51) The Cho's Solutions sheet says the same for WCA. (Cho's Solutions, p. 13) KNF Demystified says ten times the vinegar, by weight and volume. (KNF Demystified, p. 40)

Steps from the library:

  • Toast crushed shells, winnow off the membranes. (Office Hours Feb 2023, 49:33)
  • Put the vinegar in the container first. (Cho, Recipe, p. 60)
  • Add the shells slowly, a little at a time, so the bubbles don't overflow. (Cho, Recipe, p. 62)
  • Dissolve for 7 days with a breathable lid, and stir daily. (Cho's Solutions, p. 13)

The library does not say how to turn the weight ratio into a volume for a given pile of shells.
