IMO 2 Care

Just wondering what the ideal temperature and humidity should be in the room that you are keeping your IMO2 in?  Every so often i have to do a stir with my hands as the sugar and rice are starting to dry up and get hard.  Looking forward to your answers.

The answer

From the KNF library

The library gives no humidity number, only temperature and storage rules.

  • Cho's recipe holds IMO2 at 23-25°C during fermentation. (Cho, Recipe, p. 13)
  • For storage, Drake's course manual says a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 44)
  • The other recipe agrees: a cool area, out of direct sunlight. (Cho's Solutions, p. 17)
  • Stored IMO2 keeps up to 3 years at room temperature, or centuries in a refrigerator. (Cho's Solutions, p. 17)

That recipe fills the jar 2/3 full and covers it with a breathable lid. (Cho's Solutions, p. 17) If IMO2 bubbles in storage, add more brown sugar. (Cho's Solutions, p. 17)

So that means that IMO2 won't need oxygen during storage? Can IMO2 be used on plants or soil as is?
