From the KNF library

Drake's library gives clear steps for storing FFJ and FPJ.

  • Pour off the liquid into a breathable container. Keep it out of direct sun, where the temperature stays steady. (KNF Demystified, p. 37)
  • Use glass or food-grade PE plastic. The microbes stay alive and keep making gas, so keep the lid loose. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 34)
  • Keep each batch separate. Combine them only when you mix a solution for immediate use. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 34)
  • For long storage, add brown sugar equal in weight to the FPJ. This stops it from souring. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 34)
  • Cover the mouth with breathable cloth and store in a cool place. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 34)

The library gives no storage steps for LAB or the other solutions.
