Drake says FAA keeps improving for up to three years. (Office Hours Ep. 126, 37:57) Cho's chart agrees that it will continue to digest for 3 years. (Cho's Solutions, p. 13) A one-year batch still has time to improve. (Office Hours Ep. 126, 37:57) (Cho's Solutions, p. 13)
When you do strain, Drake's advice for a mushy two-year batch with bones is to pour off the liquid and dilute it 1 to 1000. (Office Hours Ep. 123, 40:09) Cho says to extract the FAA and use only the liquid. (Cho, Recipe, p. 50)
Cho's recipe also has a hint for the leftover bones: put them into the brown rice. (Cho, Recipe, p. 51) The excerpt cuts off there.
The library says nothing about re-fermenting the scraps, or about burying them in a hugelkultur bed or compost.
