Water-Soluble Calcium, Wood Ash, Filtering FAA

The show opens with the I Ching hexagram Kuan (Contemplation), then Drake spends the first twenty minutes on climate: cheap microbial sprays made from potato, salt, soil, and water as a way to break down toxins bound up in fossil carbon. He mentions Ice Age Farmer, Hawaiʻi Farmers Union United, and the free classes on the PureKNF channel.

KNF questions start around minute 22. Eggshell calcium (water-soluble calcium) is "the fruit of the chicken" and moves sugars into fruit; bone calcium phosphate is "the structure," releasing slower and darker. A 200-liter barrel of wood ash should be dusted lightly, not dug in deep, since only about 4% of a plant's mass comes from the soil and the rest from the air. Fish amino acid (FAA) that looks soupy is fine as long as it doesn't stink; filter it by gravity through a bucket drilled with holes, then a finer sieve. Paper copies of the recipe book may move to a Monday-only shipping schedule.

A long middle stretch covers fractional reserve banking, "be the Fed," and why Drake thinks soil health, not politics, is the real wealth. He argues you don't need a farm to practice KNF, makes the case for integrated animals (chickens, pigs, rabbits) in no-smell deep-litter pens, and says animals can be kept without slaughter. With sugar prices rising, he pushes JADAM instead: potato, soil, and salt, or JMS made from rancid flour, both nearly free.

Near the end, Drake explains why lactic acid bacteria (LAB) protect the body inside and out, and says mercury worries in knfFUEL are overblown once FAA is fermented and diluted. He also shares that Master Cho is now in assisted living and not teaching, after a recent lunch with Dr. Park. Full episode index and question board at knfsupport.com.

Questions answered

  • 30:43 Key differences between water-soluble calcium and calcium phosphate? — Eggshell calcium is the fruit of the chicken and moves sugars into fruit; bone calcium phosphate is the structure and releases slower, darker.
  • 33:42 I have a 200-liter barrel of ash from a house heating system. How should I use it? — Dust it lightly on top of the bed, don't dig it in deep — ash is concentrated, and only about 4% of a plant's mass ever comes from the soil.
  • 37:56 My first FAA from fish looks soupy — does it need more sugar? — No, soupy is normal; use equal weight of sugar to fish, and as long as it doesn't smell like rotting fish it's working fine.
  • 38:42 What do you use to filter FAA? — A bucket drilled with holes for the solids, then a finer sieve — let gravity do the work.
  • 40:21 Where can I get a paper copy of the recipe book? It's always out of stock. — He may switch to shipping books only on Mondays so he can keep up with orders.
  • 51:28 Do you have to live on a farm to do this, and what about being vegan? — No farm required, and integrated animals matter even for vegans — he asks vegans to what degree, since even fungi may be sentient.
  • 53:40 Why does lactic acid bacteria (LAB) matter so much? — LAB are the "KNF protectors" — they colonize you first so bad microbes have to fight through trillions of good ones to reach you.
  • 55:22 Can you raise animals without slaughtering them? — Yes — keep them like pets for fertilizer and land work and let them die naturally; his own pig is about ten years old.
  • 56:43 Sugar prices are rising too fast — what do I do? — Ditch the sugar: ferment potato, soil, and salt, or chopped weeds with water and soil, for a free microbial input.
  • 58:11 Any update on Master Cho? — After lunch with Dr. Park, Drake learned Master Cho is now in assisted living, not teaching, and not doing well.
  • 1:03:50 How do you make a sugar-free microbial solution from flour? — Mix rancid flour, soil, salt, and water; it turns bubbly and is ready in about two days.
  • 1:10:01 Should I worry about mercury in FAA? — Fermentation ties up or breaks down heavy metals, and by use it's diluted roughly 1-to-1000 — close to homeopathic levels.
