Brewing JMS ??
there has been a bit of talk as of late about JMS and it being a prebiotic due to the nature of how its made so im wondering if i where to use a AACT method to brew JMS in the same manor as making a liquid IMO3
would that not allow the propagation of the aerobic microbes from the leaf mold collection to achieve a proper microbial easy liquid solution...and by that thought would adding air to JLF also improve the quality of the JLF
The answer
Young-san Cho does not recommend aerating JMS. From what I understand his reasoning is that this is supposed to be drenched into the soil in vast quantities, which will lead to anaerobic conditions. However in the brewing process of 16-72 hours, it is not a completely anaerobic brew until the biology has consumed all the oxygen. This more natural approach of a stagnant brew leads to increasing their populations for best results upon application.
Adding air to a JLF seems like a good idea. The aeration will change the biology, but not the nutrient value significantly, so more aerobic biology in the same nutrient profile seems better to me.

The library says nothing on aerating JMS or JLF, or on brewing JMS like a liquid IMO3. It does cover a few nearby points.
- Cho's guide says a tea is generally made from IMO3 or IMO4 (Cho's Solutions, p. 11).
- Drake dilutes IMO tea more than JMS, usually 10 to 100 to 1 (Office Hours Ep. 92, 37:17).
- Cho's rice box is meant to catch aerobic microbes from leaf mould. He uses hard-cooked rice because it holds less moisture (Cho, Theory, p. 49).
- Cho warns that leaf mould with too much moisture turns anaerobic (Cho, Recipe, p. 11).
- Drake says to apply JMS right away. It builds a living soil base that later IMO applications will thrive on (Office Hours Ep. 19, 1:15:37).
These points describe collecting IMO and using it. They do not describe brewing JMS.
