Seawater Dilution Ratio, Sea Salt Substitute, Soil Compaction

This episode opens with a rough week: a dog died, a water pump failed, and cattle got away. The main lesson is KNF Made Simple. Drake explains gathering seawater and diluting it 1 to 30, about 0.1% salinity, the same as blood. That dilution carries trace minerals — boron, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and more — into the soil and helps flocculate compacted ground. No ocean access? Use 1 gram of sea salt per liter of water for the same ratio.

He walks through his own setup: seawater collected in buckets, mixed as two 5-gallon buckets into a 275-gallon tote, then run out through 2-inch pipe instead of a 3/4-inch hose, cutting drain time from over an hour to about five minutes. He also covers kalo growing straight into lava rock with mulch and biochar, and potassium deficiency in bananas whose leaves die back before the fruit is ready.

Yesterday I went to try to go get a couple cows and it didn't happen, and my dog ended up dying in the process. So it's been a wild, wild, wild ride for me this week. And this morning I wake up and the water's out over here. So now I gotta go fix the pumps. So today's episode might be a little bit different in terms of what we got going on.

1:16 But I do want to start with a little bit of higher guidance because sure as heck no, I could use it, right? and if I could use it means we could all use it and I mean not necessarily I'm not like that's a huge ego thing but it's just like hey you know but higher guidance we could all use it right trying times calls for higher things and so as as per predicted here this this thing you know This thing always seems to deliver exactly what I need in the moments, and I always trust it. So right now it says stand still, or stagnation. And it says, in times of stagnation, attend to your attitude.

It is wise now to accept that external progress is unlikely.

But I'm really, you know, I really think the whole deal in all this is to like, you know, I keep getting these messages like duration, which means just endure, even though, you know, let the world spin around you. And then I go spend four hours trying to herd cows across a pasture and there's tall grass. And then my neighbor sort of extorts me and ends up, you know, charging me for these other guys' labor that I didn't even know and not delivering them. And just, you know, it's not my nearest neighbor, it's my other neighbor. And I just felt like, you know, it ended up costing me a thousand dollars to try to get two cows and we didn't even get them. They're still in my

6:23 nearest neighbor's pasture. And so I still have to deal with getting them over here. And it's like, what am I doing? Trying to, you know, I'm trying to increase my herd, right? I'm trying to graze the land more. When you go get sea water, you'll dilute these enough that they'll become ions, they'll go out. And they'll actually relieve compaction. As you start with your soil, your soil will be all these tight layers. Or if you don't have soil, it's just rock.

As you dilute the seawater, what happens is those molecules on the elemental scale go into your soil, and they start to break it up. So here's an NA, here's a CL, here's a AU. And where these plates, soil particulates, rock particulates were real tight like this, as these minerals get in here they start to break it apart.

So putting in two five gallon buckets into this 275 gallons, this comes off my barn. and it goes into a pipe into this and at the bottom here I have a two inch

From this I run these pipes out. And initially when I built this system, I ran it through a three quarter inch hose. And I thought, oh, a hose would be easy. I'll just get 100 feet of hose and I can move it wherever I want. Well, later that same day, I'm waiting for this thing to drain.

I'm like, I need to work out. You can also get sea salt. The formula for sea salt is one gram per liter.

1:12:26 One gram of sea salt per liter of water is going to get you this same 1 to 30 dilution of sea water here. Okay, so if I think of that, let's take this 300 here, I'm just going to, and times it by four, and it's going to be 1200 grams of sea salt that I would have to add to this tank right here to get this equivalency.
