OHN Extraction, Salted Land Remediation, Foliar vs Drench Rates

A viewer on the Puget Sound asks if brackish seawater needs a different dilution. Drake says no. Ocean salinity varies by place. Keep the ratio near 1:30, and when in doubt, dilute more, not less.

For land that sat under seawater, or got over-salted, Drake recommends IMO, biochar, and lactobacillus first. Then spray humic acid diluted 1:500 to 1:1000. Humic acid comes from leonardite, a low-grade coal.

On OHN, Drake explains the five-pour-off method. Each extraction pulls different compounds out of the herbs. Alcohol must be at least 35 percent, like vodka or soju. Seal it airtight. OHN gets smoother and stronger with age, so dilute it more each year.

Other topics: gelatinase/chitinase microbes (GCM) as a chemical-to-organic transition tool, treating wetlands by placing IMO where stream water enters, foliar sprays at 25 gallons per acre versus drenches at 100 gallons per acre (same dilution, just more volume), and IMO4 at up to 10 percent of chicken or pig feed. A University of Hawaii study found KNF soil carries higher bacteria counts, including Bacillus subtilis, than conventionally farmed soil.

Questions answered

  • 9:06 Should dilution change for brackish (Puget Sound) seawater vs open ocean? — No. Keep it around 1:30, and dilute a bit more rather than less.
  • 11:50 Can you fix soil that sat under seawater or got over-salted? — Get IMO and biochar into the soil, add lactobacillus, then drench with humic acid diluted 1:500 to 1:1000.
  • 15:25 Do I have to extract OHN five times, or can I stop after two? — You can stop early, but five pour-offs pull different fractions each time and make a smoother, fuller medicine.
  • 20:13 Where can I get gelatinase/chitinase microbes (GCM) for Mega Profit Farming? — Contact Kill Young Kim at kimkill7749@naver.com; GCM is a transition tool for chemical growers, not core KNF.
  • 30:43 How do you treat wetlands with KNF? — Put a burlap sack of IMO where stream water enters, so the oxygenated inflow carries microbes through the system.
  • 36:10 Does OHN lose potency if it sits in storage? — No, sealed OHN gets smoother and more potent with age, like whiskey, so dilute it more each year.
  • 41:28 How can I submit questions if I can't make the live stream? — Email drake@pureknf.org or post on knfsupport.com, where answers get upvoted like Stack Overflow.
  • 47:33 Why use four times more solution for a drench than a foliar spray? — Keep the same dilution, like 1:500 for can food, and just apply more volume: 100 gallons per acre drenched vs 25 foliar.
  • 50:26 What ratio of IMO4 goes into chicken feed, and how is it fermented? — Drake adds a handful per half 5-gallon bucket; Master Cho's rate is up to 10 percent, fermented 24 hours in a bucket.
  • 56:21 Should IMO4 go down in cold weather, highs in the 40s? — Better to wait for spring thaw, or spread it before fall, rather than in the dead of winter.
  • 57:44 Is makgeolli the same as vodka or soju for making OHN? — No. Makgeolli rehydrates the herbs; the tincturing step still needs 35 percent or higher alcohol like vodka or soju.
  • 59:35 How much IMO4 can go into pig feed? — Up to 10 percent, same as chicken feed, though U.S. rules may limit soil-based IMO4; use straight IMO3 instead.
  • 1:00:58 What does the University of Hawaii paper say about KNF vs conventional soil bacteria? — Bacterial counts, including Bacillus subtilis, were highest in KNF-treated soil, especially in the rhizosphere.
