Chicken Egg Lay Rates, Well Water E. Coli, Blossom End Rot Calcium
Drake opens by covering member benefits — hard copies of the KNF recipe book are available by mail through KNF Support, and Pure KNF Foundation members get monthly meetings and micro-documentaries.
A well-water question leads to E. coli and coliform fixes: spray lactobacillus (LAB) to raise IMO populations and outcompete the bad bacteria, treat water with chlorine dioxide, or filter through biochar. On the same thread, a low egg lay rate gets diagnosed — the ideal rate is 75%, three eggs every four days, and drops come from short winter daylight (fix with a timed lamp) or feed that's too nitrogen-heavy. Drake details his 24-hour fermented feed recipe: food, medicine (garlic, ginger, cinnamon, licorice, angelica), cleanser (vinegar), and structure (charred bone calcium phosphate), plus KNF reproduction (toasted eggshell in vinegar) at roughly 1:700 for soft shells.
Other questions: hatching your own chicks works for layers but not Cornish cross meat birds, which should stay heirloom-bred; fermenting xanthosoma (malanga) before feeding raises its digestibility; and white wispy mold on fermenting plant juice is safe, just avoid red or black mold. For blossom end rot on Carolina Cross watermelons, Drake recommends KNF reproduction at 1:1000 plus minerals (sea salt or seawater) at 1:25.
The episode closes on Jadam/Madag theory — copying nature by piling fallen leaves and drenching them with microbes before winter dormancy — and Master Cho's principle that soil and body follow the same rules of balance.
Questions answered
- 12:36 Are hard-copy KNF recipe books still available? — Yes, Drake mails them from KNF Support; about 14 copies were left after six went out that week.
- 14:16 Well water tested positive for E. coli — what to do? — Spray lactobacillus on the land to build IMOs and outcompete the E. coli, plus try chlorine dioxide or a biochar filter.
- 16:42 Chickens have a low egg-lay rate — what's normal? — The ideal rate is about 75%, three eggs every four days, which keeps hens healthy and laying for five to seven years.
- 18:21 Does daylight affect how often chickens lay? — Lay rate drops with fewer winter sunlight hours; a timed lamp on for three to five hours after sunset keeps them laying.
- 19:10 Does chicken diet affect egg laying? — Too much nitrogen-rich feed pushes chickens into growth mode instead of laying; add wild grass, calcium, and phosphorus.
- 20:46 What's the fermented feed recipe for chickens? — Ferment 24 hours ahead with food, medicine herbs (garlic, ginger, cinnamon, licorice, angelica), vinegar cleanser, and bone-char calcium structure.
- 23:08 Eggshells are coming out soft — what fixes it? — Add KNF reproduction, toasted eggshell dissolved in vinegar, at about 1:700 in the fermented feed for roughly a week.
- 36:41 Can you hatch and raise your own chicks for meat? — Yes for layers, but Cornish cross birds lay poorly, so breed the heirloom parent lines instead of the Cornish cross itself.
- 40:44 Is xanthosoma (malanga) okay to feed chickens? — Ferment it first, since fermentation raises digestibility even when the raw plant already shows minerals like iron.
- 42:16 Is white mold on fermenting plant juice (FPJ) safe? — White wispy mold is fine and usually yeast; avoid red or black mold and pour off the liquid, not the top layer.
- 44:35 Blossom end rot on Carolina Cross watermelons — fix? — Use KNF reproduction at 1:1000 with minerals (sea salt or seawater) at 1:25 alongside the regular maintenance lineup.
- 48:26 What's the best time and method to fertilize soil? — Copy nature: pile fallen leaves in autumn and drench them with microbial solution before winter dormancy.
- 51:30 Is Celtic sea salt better than regular sea salt for minerals? — No, all sea salt should carry roughly the same mineral content.
- 52:17 Can wood ash work as a calcium source for chicken feed? — No, wood ash is mostly potassium; use oyster shell or coral dissolved in vinegar for bioavailable calcium instead.
- 53:52 How does 'body and soil are one' apply in practice? — The same balance principles that keep soil healthy keep animals and people healthy, but crude soil inputs can be too harsh to eat.

1:30 Good morning. Welcome to the Office Hours for Korean Natural Farming. Brought to you by Pure Canna Foundation. And Master Cho. and a whole lot more. So welcome. It's July 7th, 2024. Finally July. Wow. Wow. Congratulations. You made it to July in 2024.
2:15 If you're hearing this, you're probably still alive, which is a good thing. Cool. Awesome. So what's up, Mark? Good to see you, buddy. Always nice to have good friends and family here joining together to discuss higher topics and do greater things for the world and bring life to insanity to insanity to insanity or however you put it i don't know what's going on but it's good okay so before we get into today's episode of ask anything about korean natural farming go deeper into topics get into things and if nothing
2:57 else happens we'll get into some adage what's up so how's it bridger let's start with a bit of higher wisdom because we all know we need that so today is the corners the mouth providing nourishment. Give proper nourishment to yourself and others. The image of this hexagram is that of an open mouth. It comes to remind us that the spiritual nourishment of our bodies and spirits is important and merits our conscientious attention. The I Ching teaches us that if we
3:43 wish to gauge someone's character, we should notice what he nourishes in himself and in others. Those who cultivate inferior behaviors and relationships are inferior people. Those who cultivate superior qualities in themselves and others are superior people. This is a test we should apply to ourselves as well as to others. what you put in your body is obviously important because it determines your fundamental physical well-being it is wise to be moderate and thoughtful about the food you eat what you put in your mind is even more significant
4:31 and regulating it is a more subtle art the hexagram gives you three part advice on this subject first is that we should not feed our minds on desire when we forgo our equanimity and begin to desire something or someone A host of inferior influences come into play. We become ambitious about obtaining the object of our desire. We become fearful that we will not. If we do achieve it, our ego is gratified and strengthened.
5:21 And it soon issues another demand for us to meet. A self-reinforcing cycle of negativity is thus created. Therefore, it is wise to hold yourself free from desire. The second counsel is that we begin and continue a regular practice of meditation. Sitting quietly with our eyes closed for even as little as 10 or 15 minutes a day begins to clear the waste. out of our hearts and minds, making room for nourishment of peace and wisdom to enter. In. To sit in meditation is to tune your ear to the voice of the sage,
6:11 and it is the most powerful way of gaining his assistance. The final counsel is that we observe tranquility in speech, thoughts, and actions. by cultivating calm and equanimity in all that you say, think, or do you nourish your superior self and those around you one who follows these three counsels now will meet with good fortune yeah yeah
6:56 yeah it's that cool um nourishment providing nourishment it's been nourishing you lately you know springtime summertime summer now it's summer now you know getting plants growing herbs growing getting all the things growing doing good putting things in our body, putting things in our mind, thinking about all that. What are we, you know, what are you tuning into? What am I tuning into? All kinds of interesting good stuff, I think. And reading a good book, you know, it's always nice to read, put good thoughts in.
7:44 Do that subtle art. Sit in meditation. Sit there. Think about Master Cho. Or nothing. and let the sage dictate what to do. Yeah, dictate good. So Solar Garmay, what's up? We got Kristoff in the house. Yo, thanks. They're our favorite Belgian friend. Got Goofman. Yo, what's up, New York? How's Jay-Z? Hey, sending family love from Stonemason, Indiana. Yo. What else? Yeah. Hey, you guys. you guys and how cool would it be for all of us to hang out someplace together in person and farm hey what's up andrew my polish friend sup sup yeah good to see y'all i'm glad you're
8:39 all here in the house that's good um big ups big ups whatever you know um enough said all the good YouTube things out there. So, um, yeah. And farm time. Yeah. You know, um, I just let the domain KNF conference expire. So if you want it, I think it's expired now you can buy it. But, um, I, um, you know, for a while I did KNF conference up until 2020. Um, and I just haven't done it. I, you know, I have an idea of, you know, I wanted to keep it alive for a while to do, but, um, you know, it would be kind of nourishing,
9:28 I think, to have a KNF global meetup. I mean, we do it digitally, right? So if you are interested in the digital meetup and you want to say, Hey, Hey, you know, um, once a month more than once. Yeah. Uh, I think it's going to be coming up next Sunday. Cause this is the first Sunday of the month, I reckon, but next Sunday, um, we're going to be, is it, is it really the first or second? I can't even remember. Yeah. It gotta be, um, gotta be next Sunday coming up. We, uh, Oh my gosh, so much going on. We meet Pure KNF Foundation.
10:11 We meet again virtually, but it's a little bit more than just me talking to you. It's you talking to you. And we meet here, do our membership thing. Our monthly meetings happen every Sunday, at least so far. Not every Sunday, but every second Sunday of the month. I think this week we're going to have Susanna talk to us about her microorganism adventure and man that's been fun and also speaking of member benefits of joining the Pure KNA Foundation also put up Ginger John Caverly's interview here and so there are now five micro documentaries here and got more coming and working on that.
11:00 So all kinds of good things. And yeah, but, you know, maybe one of these days, organize something where I have a KNF Worldwide Meetup Symposium Master Conference. I don't know what you want to call it, but I could do it here in Hawaii. It'd be a good reason to get out here. yes hey some super chats thanks marty yes cool making it worth my time even more to be here i appreciate it because i tell you what gathering together with everybody getting the nourishment like that and having you get nourished this way and everything it makes a difference so
11:42 i appreciate it um so you know if there's any question we got we got thomas in the house too what's up eyewitness how you doing Bridgeron hope uh you know every time I see those fungal things in the yard I'm always thinking you plus I just grazed the cows through the yard so there's bound to be thousands of mycelial connections happening and maybe their fruiting bodies too oh yeah so thank you thanks Marty that's that's always good so um you know if There's no questions or anything, I guess. Oh, you know what? I did have a question that was emailed to me.
12:27 Let me pull that up here and get to that here just real right quick. And this, so, oh, another thing, as I'm checking my email, I realize there are hard copies of the book available right now. So let me pull that up too here and get that over here. Not this, not that. This one can go away. Too many tabs. But yeah, here, if you go, I've been mailing out hard copies of the book. So if you're in the United States and you want, you can go to KNF Support here from that page.
13:13 and click on this link right here where it says download the recipe book but if you actually click on it you will see that there are hard copies of the book available to you i mailed out like six this past week so they're going pretty quick i only have what 14 left i guess um but um you can get the books mailed to you so if you're interested in that i've been doing that all week and it's been putting packages in the mail for folks and uh they get a special treat with it too um so um yeah so there are hard copies of the book available right here you can get those
13:53 or you can download the free update book or the um current edition of the book march 8th 2022 there's actually a more current version out but i haven't updated this um so let's see oh yeah let me do this this way and so I got a question um the other day um and it was it was somebody um in California that was looking at first she thought she had some issues with her well water so and that there was a bunch of E. coli's and in there which then which is a bummer when you drill a well and there's E. coli? Well, number one is you can probably start to put
14:41 lactobacillus out on your land everywhere and increase your IMOs. And hopefully that will reduce your E. coli and coliform because those got into the well water somehow. lactic acid bacteria, LABs, really help to eliminate the E. coli's, coliforms. They just eat the food that they were eating and they get rid of them. So that's why, you know, when you have poop and it smells and you put spray lactobacillus on it, the poop no longer smells. it's because they're able to eat those nitrates those nitrites and um the out compete the e coli
15:26 the poop's usually stinking because the e coli is growing or the coliform is growing um and you're able to eliminate those by using lactobacillus so that's first thing if you have nitrites nitrates in your in your um in your system you can put in uh lactobacillus into it um i don't know if you could just dump lactobacillus down your well i don't know that might work um you can put it in like your water tank and stuff it's it you know does its thing it it works pretty well that way um so um so yeah so one of the solutions she was talking about is putting um
16:12 biochar filled totes. So to filter, so a biochar filled tote would filter your water. Charcoal always pulls out things out of your water. It's what's used as a filter. I'm not sure it's going to work on the biological level, but the LAB will work on that level. You can also use chlorine dioxide. It's another really good thing to treat water with. And, yeah, so, but then she's been asking about, but then she emailed me back a bit later, and sorry, I didn't get to this until then, because, you know, I was going to answer it
16:59 here in the office hours. So, it says she is dealing with a low lay rate for her chickens. and um so if your chickens are not laying very much uh very many eggs um the ideal rate for chickens that master cho promulgates is you want about a 75 percent lay rate so that means the chicken lays three out of four days and then you know skips a day to lay and keeps laying three out four days. That is the ideal lay rate for longevity of the chicken, where you can keep that chicken alive for five years, five to seven years at that lay rate, and they will lay great eggs for you for
17:51 that amount of time. Some people want it to lay more eggs than that, so they juice the chicken up with a bunch of things but it is the ideal lay rate is about three quarters 75 percent is uh for the longevity of your chicken and the good health of the chicken and of course the nutrition and the eggs if the chicken is pumping out eggs faster than that it may jeopardize the nutrition in there just because it's always laying so quick and all these things. So, um, so that's one thing. The other thing to realize is that the lay rate is dependent
18:30 on sunlight hours, which right now we have choke or plenty sunlight. So I don't think that would be an issue, but if that is during the winter, they will lay a little less. You can put a little lamp in their chicken pen and that lamp, it turns on at sunset and, um, goes for about three to five hours and then turns off and that lamp will make them think the sun is still up and they will continue to lay well which sorry about that um but i don't think that that um you know should be an issue right now so the last issue to get to is
19:10 their diet. And if you are, you know, for me, the balanced diet, if I am feeding too much nitrogenous things to the chickens, their lay rate goes down a bit. You can think of it like the plants. Like if I put can of fuel, the fish aminos on the plants, they're going to grow leaves and grow. They're not going to go into the reproductive fruiting period. And so if your food is too nitrogenous, it's good, but it's not good for laying eggs all the time. It's good for growth
19:58 of the chicken, but it kind of pushes it into like a vegetative period, which is not into its reproductive period. So you can change your natural farming solutions to be more calcium rich and more phosphorus rich. So feeding them more wild grasses will help to push that over instead of being so nitrogenous, it'll push them where they can eat, um, um, you know, just more forage, you know, first off it's cheap and second off, it'll help them lay a bit better. And, um, you can also put the calcium phosphates in their feed and I recommend fermenting their feed. I do it,
20:46 uh, you know, we, we here on the farm do it about, uh, 24 hours ahead. So what I'm feeding them today was made yesterday. Today I'm going to make tomorrow's food and I always let the, let it ferment before it's being fed to them. So I add in, um, in there, I add basically the maintenance solution. So they're getting, uh, you know, food, medicine, cleanser, and structure. And the food is just extra supplemental nutrition, helps the microbes ferment their food feed really well in addition to the feed, right? The feed, I'm using K&F food. The medicine also helps the
21:26 reproductive period. So those herbs, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, licorice, and angelica, all those herbs help promote reproductive activity. The cleanser is just good. Any animal, there's a lot of research on feeding brown rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar, vinegars, fruit vinegars, to livestock and having great results in numerous ways. Their health, their immune system, their ability to digest food, all these things. It makes their crap smell less because they have a higher digestibility index, a bunch of stuff like that.
22:06 And then last, the structure is calcium phosphate, and it's made from the charred bones. and that really helps. I think I got a sneeze. Hang on one sec. God bless me. But the calcium phosphate really helps to build the strength and adds that calcium to their eggs and helps them stay in the reproductive phase. Yeah, Mark out there ferments his feed. It's a really easy, simple thing to do. Oh yeah. So, so good to do for your chickens. Um, and then also if you, you know, basically what I do is I, um, I kind of monitor
22:53 it that if the chickens are getting, um, their eggs are getting soft, like the shells aren't as hard, like they're, they're, they're breaking on me type thing. Um, or the chickens are going to a lower lay rate. Um, I add in specifically the KNF reproduction, which is made from eggshells, you know, toasted eggshells and dissolved in vinegar. So, um, but that, that I don't add all the time. Um, I can, you can actually kind of overdo it. Um, you know, so, um, so it's just added, you know, when I notice it for about a week, that will go into their feed. And it's
23:35 roughly at about one to 700. So when I moisten their feed to ferment it, I add water to moisten it. I'll add in those at approximately that. I'll tell you, I'll tell you straight up, I don't measure it. I'm not out there precision doing this, but I am adding roughly one to 700 of it in the maintenance solution I'm adding at the regular dose of 25 milliliters per gallon. And again, I just eyeball that stuff, but I know from doing it long enough that I'm really close to that. So if you do initially measure it out to see how much water, how much solution you add,
24:17 then make it easy where you can just kind of eyeball it in because it's not super precision with the animals as much, and you can actually give them a higher dose than you could to your plants. But you don't want to give them the wrong thing at the wrong time or the wrong amount. So do learn and see what that is and how those things work. So, yeah, so, So, yeah. So that's it on chickens, you know, lay rates, those types of things. There are, you know, another thing with laying is to make sure they have a nice private, quiet zone to lay. The chickens may be laying elsewhere.
25:02 I mean, I don't know, maybe if they're in a pen and you don't, you're not, you know, obviously they have to lay somewhere in there. But you may be missing their nest. They may be laying somewhere else. So if you create a laying box, like you can see, I mean, on my channel, there's some, let's see here. I'm going to go look at this here. Let me go this tab over here and make a channel. So on my channel, you can kind of see, let's just search chicken here. So here's chicken system upgrades.
25:50 And you can also learn directly from Master Cho here on my channel here. There's KNF Poultry, Chickens, Birds. It's a playlist here. KNF Basic Poultry Training. You could watch this whole series. That would be really good. um, you know, I talked about chicken mites as a KNF short, um, and then, you know, KNF chicken eggs feed example, you know, so if you're, if you're curious more about the, uh, and then I also talked here about the basic feed formula. Let me copy that and put it in the chat here so that
26:25 you can, you can see that, um, cause this is basically the feed formula. I just talked about it, but here, and then there's a really old, one of my more famous videos. This one has 89,000 views, which, you know, you'd think it would have more, but, um, but this video as well, that's Kim Chang, rest in peace, talking about chicken feed workshop. Um, you know, and, and, but there's, if you just search my channel for chicken, you'll find there are tons of resources on chickens. It's one of the things I've been doing for so long. I love my chickens.
27:00 Oh, and this one here too, feed development for poultry, although I believe this one's in Korean. But you can turn on the captions, I think. But yeah, the laying box, the laying box right there is in the thumbnails, right behind me in that thumbnail. And making sure, like, that's the best laying box. People make these other ridiculous things. They buy ridiculous houses for their chickens. They think the chicken wants to live in some house like they do. It's absolutely ridiculous. The chicken truly wants to live in a system
27:35 that looks like this, where, oh, here I'm making a roost for them. And let's see here. Oh, here's me looking in the laying box. So you look at this, you know, start here. So the laying box, This is what they want to land. It has a curtain, so it blocks the light from them. Then they lay here in the back. They just sit in there all together, and there's wood shavings in there. It kind of has this wall. They'll sit in there in the dark. They'll lay. They'll make nice nests. They won't squawk too loud. You can open and close it really easily. Their laying bars,
28:13 I replaced this since then. That was a long time ago. and then you know their feeders down there so this is what chickens want to live and they don't want to live in some stupid little barbie house that people make for them sorry if you have a barbie house and you put your chickens in there but you'll find they'll be much happier if you don't put them in a barbie house everyone puts them in a barbie house I don't know why chickens don't like those things I'll just tell you um and then there's my baby chicken expansion pan over there
28:45 Oh my gosh, this area. This is such an old video. Things have changed so much since then. But you could watch this too if you want to hear what I'm talking about in my laying docks. And look at those nice chickens over there. Oh, nice chickens. So anyway, yeah. So a lot about chickens, you know, the floor, the systems. Oh, here, I put in the new laying roost room. This is, this is what they are not the laying roost, the sleeping roost. This is what they want to sleep on. They sleep on this. They really like
29:21 that. They have their whole tiered order, all that. You can, you can really look in. I talk a lot about chickens and I love my chickens. Although these guys have since, a lot of these hens are still alive, but that rooster is no longer with us. He got aggressive. So he got hit with a golf club and eaten. That's what happens when you're aggressive. Um, so anyway, lots about chickens. Uh, good, you know, good thing to look up. I hope Jenny tunes in, checks that out. So, um, and then Sal was saying here, there is a Dr. Duke, Dr. Duke. um let's see dr duke plant database
30:11 okay yeah so here we'll go to this and see here yeah thomas remembers going up to that thing there so let's see here is um ethnobotanical database, and let's look up comfrey. I don't know. Latin name. Let's just try this one. This is tumor. Huh. so this tells you what they're good for or something i don't know did we just go to this one
31:03 tumor so i don't know this is some sort of dr duke thing oh oh okay so here here it'll break down on what's in the plant. So you're looking at comfrey here. It'll tell you what's in there. This is kind of a cool, interesting resource. How much calcium and things are in there. The whole point, but, you know, I think this is what you're talking about, right? This is like the biochemical stuff in there. So one thing, this is good. it'll tell you what's in there so you can see how different plants react to each other or differ
31:49 from each other. But I would also just let you know that like it doesn't necessarily mean that that's bioavailable or absorbable. It could just because it's in the plant doesn't mean you can get it out of the plant and or transferred to another plant. Just just as so it's good to have a guide like this to know, you know, if you're lacking aluminum, you could get comfrey and get aluminum, right um and parts per million here um you know but it doesn't necessarily mean you can get it out doing making the can of food the fermented plant juice recipe from this hey thank you super chats
32:24 oh thank you oh that's so great two two super chats today feeling feeling blessed thank you really appreciate it um so having you know just because there's aluminum in there doesn't mean it's necessarily going to be water soluble or a way to get it out, making a fermented plant juice, a can of food from this, your odds of getting it out and making it bioavailable is much better. And there's 97 different chemicals in comfrey, apparently. And chemicals with activities is 64. And there's 448 activities in comfrey. So knowing what's in the plant,
33:06 also just copying the characteristics and going a very simple thing. Sometimes I find that chemistry can be a dangerous thing to get into because you think you need this chemical or that chemical, but it turns out they're in compounds and those compounds are very different than you think they are. And so just understanding like if this plant has this growth characteristic, I can use that. And odds are that there are these chemicals in there that are making that characteristic happen. but looking at it in a much more simplistic like third grader type of way is perhaps more accurate
33:39 than looking at it in a chemical way although i'm not saying um use this resource if that's your jam and you want to look into it and find the chemicals and know that you're going to get this much aluminum because um you know aluminum is important right without that how would we drink coke oh glass bottles i don't know anyway what you put in your body is important bro um so knowing what you put in your body is important. And if you're, if you're low in something, then I would say, yeah, this, this database is awesome. So thanks. So for bringing this to our attention here,
34:11 um, Dr. Duke's phytochemical ethnobotanical databases, um, it's kind of cool. So let's look up what else? Uh, let's look up horse tail, uh, equisum. Um, I always just mumble the Latin names. Okay, yeah, so if you did a horsetail here, it also has aluminum. It has a little bit more aluminum than comfrey, so if you're looking for more aluminum in your diet, I would go with horsetail over comfrey. But look at this, there are 210 chemicals in this one. I guess you could just pull up a PDF of it. Let's see what happens when
34:54 we do that and bring that over here here we go so you can just pull up a PDF or an Excel spreadsheet of each of these things and see all the chemicals in here versus scrolling page after page so if you're looking for potassium in the plant there is 3,000 of them so if you need 3,338 potassiums you should ferment horsetail. But then I guess there's also high 15,000. I wonder what happened. I guess that's when the plant does coke or something. It gets high. I don't know. I don't know what that means.
35:39 You could probably look it up. I doubt it's what I inferred to being. That plant is smoking weed, man look how much more caffeine acid caffic acid it has when it's high it has way more ash in it you know that's cool that's awesome um so yeah cool what's up marcus good to see you um do i know of any knf poultry farmers who hatched eggs from his farm and used the chicks for another batch of production? Well, I know me, so I have done it. We hatch eggs from our farm and use it for another batch of production. Yes,
36:28 if you're talking about the meat birds, the Cornish crosses, no, they just, they're not very good layers. You should just start with the Cornish cross, get the, get the, not the F1 variety, but the heirlooms that they cross to make a Cornish cross and then breed those and then make your eggs. You know, don't try and have a Cornish cross give you eggs. That is a disaster. And those chickens are not designed to do anything but get fat and be eaten. But we oftentimes will lay our own eggs. In fact, we probably got to start again soon.
37:06 because we, we, um, but I pull the eggs out and we put them into a incubator. I don't let the chickens sit on their own eggs because the eggs get all mixed together and then you end up eating balut and it's kind of gross. Um, at least for me, I'm not Filipino. So the Filipinos out there are probably like, what? Balut? Balut? Very good. I'm sorry. That's, that's, that's a different, um, I don't know if you're Filipino out there, you probably know what I'm talking about. You're down with the balut, right? Throw a little bit of salt, a little bit of vinegar,
37:35 eat that 19 day old chick good stuff there um there's a bad i think there's a video of me eating balut i don't know search the channel for balut maybe you'll find it um but uh yeah so anyway if um the biochemical part hopefully hopefully i didn't insult anybody too bad today but um let's get uh if there's any other questions drop them but otherwise let's go um let's go over here let's do some chadamadadj um um yeah love my filipino friends man filipinos um good good good people i tell you when i went to
38:26 the Philippines, man. Wow. What a, what a trip, a trip of a lifetime. Um, yeah. Anyway, think about that all the time. Okay. So we ended, we are, we were going through around slide 26. We were going over Madag, or in this case it says Jadam today, but you can read it this way, Madag. Maybe we should flip this. Can we flip this slide? Is there any way to rotate it? I don't know. We can rotate it right. And rotate it right. I don't think that's still... Oh, now it says
39:12 Madadge. It says Madadge. We'll just leave it like that. Uh, that way, you know, um, confuse the algorithm, but going through Jadam, Madadge, the, um, ultra cheap, I call it disgustingly cheap, um, natural farming. And, um, you know, be careful what you put in your mind, be careful what you put in your body. Do not ever put these solutions in your body. Um, they're just, they're terrible. Um, but the plants, they don't seem to mind. Um, so, you know, we're kind of going over his theory. He's asking nature about the secrets of optimum fertility. Um, you know, and he's
39:54 basically just saying, use wild grass. It's there. It does its thing. Put some minerals out there, you know, do, do what you do. Um, oh yeah. Okay. Okay. Yeah. So, um, so, so, uh, so one, one, uh, last thing so before we jump into the medag he saw saying he's feeding xanth soma scientific to the chickens um and um let's see here which one here this one um let's just search for that here um let's search for that let's just pull this up here xantho xantho xantho xanthifico and this is
40:44 malanga whatever this here so he's feeding this so um one thing to do uh if you're feeding it is um is to oh this is what it's good for it's good for sores polyps medicine cancer, burns, analopeptic. Oh, here, here we go. This is, this is the, what's in there. So if, do ferment it, do, do ferment it to make sure all these things are available just because it has certain things in there, like this iron, for instance, just because an animal eats it does not mean it's going to digest it. It just, if you, but if you ferment it first, the digestibility the index of everything goes way up.
41:30 So I hope if you are fermenting your foods, including plants like this one, which I'm unfamiliar with this. I might know it by a different name. But yeah, I highly suggest, you know, throwing in all kinds of wild grasses and these things to make it better. So, yeah. and then Andrew is saying here in the book where's the book? in the book here let's see, we'll go to this and we'll go down to where it says signs your FPJ is ready your can of food is ready right here and it says the signs are
42:16 that smell will change the fresh plant material from sweeter. It has a slight alcoholic smell or mold will develop on the surface when the fermentation is complete. So what I'm talking about is like white wispy hairs popping here. And he's saying, is the mold bad for me? No. Well, you know, first off, use it your own risk, because I'll just say that, because, and don't try this at home, even though, you know, whatever. That's just for my disclaimers, but in my experience, white wispies are just totally fine. There's a lot of different microorganism growths that
43:01 you will see out in the world, and very few of them are harmful to humans, and so you're Um, you're probably actually fairly easy to eat that. Um, and it's just white wispy stuff. You don't want to eat it if there is red or black molds on there, significant deep stuff. And you're just going to pour off the liquid. So you're not eating the top where the mold occurs. Um, and so no molds are not bad for your, for your health. Um, very, very few of them are. So, um, but don't take that as medical advice, you know, consult your doctor.
43:38 they're going to tell you to drink bleach, uh, you know, whatever, or inject yourself and talk to your doctor. They'll tell you to take the kill shot. Oh yeah. And get a booster. Oh God. Watch out for your doctors. Um, and, um, alpha there. Okay. Yeah. Um, so yeah. So, okay, cool. Well, you guys waited until we got into the Medaj topic to ask a bunch of questions. So it's cool we'll answer these first so um so yeah this this white wispy mold's not bad for your health at all um but your mileage may vary so i'll just leave it at that um yeah and and goof
44:20 says from what i've learned the white molds on ferments are forms of yeast yeah yeah and yeast all those things have tons of benefit and the whole the whole point is there's for it's fermented plant juice you are going to be drinking microorganisms living in the solution i mean um so if you think you know it's kind of uh i don't know how you're going to reckon with that but yeah you're you're you're literally growing them out to eat them and they're they're beneficial and helpful to you and yeah they're yeasts there's um all kinds of things in there so thanks for that
44:52 goof yeah totally on point goof is the man that's why they call him the goof man yeah yeah um so Robert here is having a terrible issue with blossom end rot on the Carolina cross watermelons. Give me your extra thoughts on a few recipes to get extra calcium into the plants. Extra calcium into the plants, there's really, you know, the solution here is the KNF reproduction here. This solution here, KNF reproduction, this is your solution you're looking for to get more calcium in, but you are also having a mineralization issue if you're having blossom rot. So not only
45:34 are you adding, make this recipe right here, dissolve the cooked eggshells, the vinegar, watch out for it overflowing, but then you will have this solution three to five days. You then put that on at the recommended rate here in the chart here, chart where it talks about reproduction. So using this solution here where you're adding reproduction at 1 to 1000, but you are also including minerals. So that is seawater, sea salt. So at 1 to 25 and in combination of just these, you will help with that. But then you probably want to do this whole
46:16 column here of the food cleanser, medicine, structure, fuel, minerals, and reproduction at that rate here for the fruit solution there. And that will solve your problem. So most likely. I'm not promising this, but I'm saying it will probably go away. It's a balance there. Yeah, Goof's the man. Give him all the credit, man. He knows what's up. Goof is the man. So, yeah. So, including minerals. If you're having rot type of stuff happening, it is usually a lack of minerals, and it's usually one of these trace minerals, but the cool thing about this is every
46:52 single element is in seawater. So if you get sea salt, you reconstitute it following these recipes, or you just get seawater. If you're near the ocean, go grab it. And then you can put those so that the best combo is the reproduction plus the minerals. These two recipes, that's why they're right next to each other in the book, and that will help with those. and then there's other numerous ways to do that but but that if you if you haven't done that yet then start there that's that's the starting point so um so with that we'll go back we'll
47:32 do some madadge times madadge time yeah it's madadge time oh milk and coffee so my dad's time my dad's time ask nature about the optimal secrets of fertility so basically i mean the whole you know one of the things either this disgustingly cheap KNF, which is, you know, Young Song's Cho's version of it, or Master Cho's version of it, the basic idea is we're just copying nature. We're not doing anything outside of that. We're just making optimal naturic recipes. I'm not even sure that's a word, but if they say spagyrics as a word,
48:19 naturic's a word too, right? We'll go with that. So, um, so ask nature, you know, just copy nature. I think this is a fairly poor translation, but that's okay. So, ask nature about correct method for applying fertilizer. And the answer is fresh, fallen soil surface, applied in autumn. So, the idea is that, you know, one of the best things to do, so it doesn't necessarily apply here in Hawaii, right? Because things are going all the time, dying all the time, just growing all the time.
49:00 But in America or in places where you have more, excuse me, let me just say outside of the tropics, because that'll just be, that'll just cover all both sides of the hemispheres and not be continent specific. But it's more, more has to do with latitudes. But outside the tropics, this is especially important. you like what what you want to build fertility well then apply as much of the leaves as you can gather from all over in autumn let your plants go through their dormant season your soil go through the dormant season with all the leaf material you can gather around there
49:41 and put a bunch of drench a whole bunch of um the microbial solution on there before it goes into the dormant winter. And then the next year, you will come back and you will have all those microbes eating all those leaves and you will have the world's best garden bed to get into. So leaves are a heck of a lot better than a whole bunch of wood chips. You know, there's that classic back to Eden farming and they'll tell you put a bunch of wood chips and stuff. In Hawaii, the wood chips would work pretty well. In the tropics, the wood chips would work pretty well.
50:23 But I tell you what, the leaves have a whole different nutritional set and the leaves are going to make your best soil. Your best soil is going to come from rameel wood and leaves. Wood chips are not going to build the world's best soil. For me, it's okay. Things decompose here so fast. Wood chips are actually pretty good. but anywhere else it's it's the ramiel wood and the leaves that you really want to be using um and if you apply this in your fall season your next season will be amazing you can just
50:56 pile it on there fresh as soon as the leaves fall you just pile them all on there i mean i know they kind of um what do you call desiccate before they hit the ground but this is the way to do it um And so if it's not autumn, you can do it whenever, right? But this is the best way, like just, you know, because you're copying nature. It's like, that makes sense. Why is it the best way? It is just the best way. Yeah. Would Celtic sea salt be better for minerals? Just as a question. you know I don't think I think all sea salt is going to be the same I'm not sure if Celtic sea
51:41 salt is going to be better they should all have the same amount of nutrients in there yeah right in the more ramiel wood chips you can put down the better so and then there's another question here let me just let me just jump back to this other question And since there's a, so I was asking about giving calcium to birds and he said around here, there's a common to use calcitic limestone in the feed. I was wondering if it would be possible to use something like wood ash as a source of calcium. I would not recommend wood ash as a source of calcium. It's more potassium in there.
52:27 The calcium, you can use oyster shells, those types of things. You can use corals, but all those are not going to be as good as dissolving. Like if you have coral, you can dissolve the coral in vinegar and then put the vinegar, like make the KNF reproduction recipe from that and then put it into the food. You're going to get way better results if you dissolve the calcium first. just supplementing. There's actually, like, if you research through the KNF chicken stuff, you'll find there's this, like, alternative feed thing, which is, like,
53:16 oyster shells plus diatomaceous earth plus red dirt plus IMO4 that they can eat. And anyway, you'll find there's a specific supplement for giving them a calcium supplement. But maybe I should just do a whole episode on chickens. I don't know. Chickens seem to be pretty famous here. I should probably capitalize on that a little bit better. um so um so anyway back to this um i and others are one right this is like the classic hippie thing to say um this content concept entails thinking of myself and others my life and
53:59 others lives as one our bodies and soil are one so even though you're over there watching me through YouTube were actually the same. You know, I just think maybe this isn't the exact concept, but I think of it in like, you'll notice when I teach a lot of what I teach is analogies. Like I'll talk about, for instance, the chicken, and then I'll talk about the plant. And if you give it too much nitrogenous growth, it'll grow leaves, but it won't reproduce and it won't give you good fruit. And then I say, that's the same for the chicken. I think that's the concept he's
54:32 getting at here is that it's really simple, basic, like elementary school understanding. You don't need these higher chemical concepts or these things. You just got to think of it as it's all the same. And, um, just like you, you know, you want your buffer, you want that thing in YouTube to be buffering for you. You need buffer carbon to buffer your soil. If it runs out of buffer, it's going to skip and stutter. Same thing for your plants. Like these concepts of these concepts apply in multiple facets. And that's why, you know, the great teachers out
55:05 there have taught in parables and to bring it back into common sense things. And that's why, you know, being able to teach elementary school kids these concepts, but then they scale right up to us as adults that are tuning in and making super chats. So, our, you know, but thinking, thinking of our body and the soil as one. This is why in Master Cho's natural farming, the same solutions that work for the soil also work for the human body, also work for animals. But in the case of Yang Song Cho, you do not want to eat the same stuff he says to put on the soil.
55:41 It will kill you. And so odds are it is also somewhat killing the soil. The soil just happens to be more tolerant of abuse than the human body or an animal body. And so you can use cheaper, more crude things on the soil. But again, that's why I always recommend you go all the way up to like master Cho level stuff and get beyond Yong Song Cho. It's just a great way to start, really inexpensive way to get there, but keep going because I and others are one. If you wouldn't eat it, why are you putting it on your soil? Why would you even try to feed it to your animals?
56:16 So he says this, yet then, you know, I don't know where he fully ends up on this. So body farming is the same as crop farming. That's exactly what I was just saying. You know, if it works for the soil, it should work for our body. If it works for our body, it should work for the soil. If it works for the plants, all these concepts are the same. Principle of keeping my body healthy, my crop healthy are the same. When nutritional balance is broken, I lose health. And this, I'm glad here it says balance because that's basically what I am continually talking about is balance, balance, balance.
56:56 When you're in balance, you have health. When you're out of balance, you're broken and you lose health. It is all about balance. You know, so often we think we got to put this in and juice it up and make it maximum thrive here. You're obscuring the balance.
57:13 You may get results for a little while. It's like, you know, if you did a bunch of cocaine and stuff, you'd get a bunch of productive results. But on the long run, you'd bring yourself out of balance and you'd probably destroy most of your relationships in your life and or your health and or your nasal passages or whatever. You know, my friend used to say your first year of cocaine is the most productive year of your life. because it just eventually prolonged use throws you out of balance right and so bringing yourself into balance you may not be the best on something
57:54 but you're going to be the healthiest most robust most hard to tip over you know and balance is going to make you the most adaptable to anything in every changing situation. As the thing changes, you're in balance. You're always at this fulcrum point, right? Life's always changing, but you're balanced in the center, right? It goes up, it goes down, but you're always here, you know, staying in the best, most balanced point and you don't have the extremes of the ups and downs at the edges. Whereas if you made the edge and it's up,
58:26 then it's going to go down. That's going to go up. It's going to go down. Look how much movement that is versus you stay balanced and you're here and the life changes around you and you didn't move that much, right? So those ideas, that's always what I'm promulgating is balance. Oh, shoot. Why is it? Because I'm hitting the scroll wheel. The reason why my body gets sick and why the soil degraded are the same, right? It's the pharmaceutical companies. Nutritional imbalance and circulatory problem. Okay. So yeah, wrong fertilizer program and compacted soil layer. So yeah, these reasons,
59:07 you know, we're not getting the right nutrients in our food. That's why we're sick. Our circulatory problems, I don't know what aids to that. I think just eating good balanced meals, nutrient-dense things without poisons in them. Wrong fertilizer program, right? The food, Like, you know, I go, I pick up bread to feed to the pigs from a distributor and I read the ingredients on that and the ingredients are like a short novel. And I, and I read all these potassium, sodium, carbon, you know, whatever, I don't know, just like absorbic acid and stuff.
59:45 I'm like, what is that doing for the nutrition of the plant? It's not, it's preservatives and we're putting in all these things. And so it's like the wrong fertilizer on our soil, but also the wrong food going into our bodies. you know what you eat is very important what you put in your mind is even more important um so having the right stuff and you know like if you make your own sourdough what is it it's flour and water you know and some microorganisms that make it rise like super simple you didn't have to have any of those other like potassium sorbate and all these wild things that are like
1:00:19 a short novel it's just like you know it's two two ingredients that goes into a sourdough bread plus time and effort and energy and in an oven but you can make bread right out of that healthy nice good stuff full of microbes already broken down already you know um more digestible all those things so the wrong you know when you say your bodies are the same as the crop we're just on the wrong fertilizer program on all levels right now. Okay. You know, it's wild people buy that stuff and eat it and the pretzels and the chips, oh, Takis that are like blue. What the hell is that?
1:00:55 Um, I don't know. I don't know why in your right mind you would ever buy blue Takis and eat those things, but you know, people do they're, they're out there. Obviously it is a commercial product that people are into, uh, might have to do a socioeconomic things. I don't know. Um, but just making your own snack like get a potato get a little bit of mac nut oil or something fry that potato up make some delicious french fries or something so simple so easy um so compacted soil layer you know compacted soil layer i think uh there is a huge problem with digestibility right
1:01:34 people's immune they're always having ibs and like irritable bowel syndrome and things that's similar to our compacted soil layer. We can't even absorb the nutrients in those things. Wild. So, and then we'll end, well, we'll end with this concept actually. So we'll just get a preview of this one. Well, yeah. So the good and bad are one. Too much medicine is poison. Adequate amount of poison is medicine. So, yeah, this is the balance, right? if if you know you have the right amount of things at the right time right place it's good
1:02:15 too much at the wrong time you know any one of those things upset it kills you right fried in oxen fat even better yeah lard lard lard and potatoes oh match made in heaven pigs and potatoes um but if you are interested in this further the good and the bad are one and you made it this far you would definitely be interested in this lesson here on the YouTube here. Let's go. So click on that channel below and go and, you know, check out this here. The good and the bad are one. If you have not watched this video here, I'll link it in the chat so you can see.
1:03:03 But if you haven't watched this, watch it for next week because then we'll start on this. Yeah, everyone's in the pig potato love club. Pig potato love club. That's a good one. But the good and the bad are one, this microbial theory, you know, you start to look at this, this is my take on it. But basically, I get to this point right here, where, you know, I'm talking about the good, the bad, the neutral, right? And this here, microbial theory, a tiny drama, right? Soil microbes, good versus bad. If you're good,
1:03:41 we're good, right? These neutral microbes, they want to be good. They want to hang out in a great soil. So I'd highly recommend you check this out. This just dropped it in the chat there. If you haven't watched this, if you have watched it, just go and hit that thumbs up button right here. And let's see if that changes from 576. Let's see if we can get up to like 900 likes by next week. you know, see, um, you know, maybe, maybe we could, um, but yeah, drop a, drop a like on that one. If you have watched it and go just like, just visit, if you already watched it, just go visit
1:04:14 and click that like button or the thumbs down. If you really did, if you didn't like it and you're like, you suck, hit that thumbs down button too. You know, I'm always open to those, but, um, but yeah, hit this like button right here and see if, so 576, I'm going to write that number down. And we'll see if it changes between this week and next week. I'll write down 576. And we'll see if that changes and how much support the office hours can get. So, and yeah, learn about the good, the bad, the neutral, everything.
1:04:50 And if you already know about the core solutions, you can just skip in here, skip in and go to it. But it's also worth checking out the first 45 minutes too. And we talk all about this. So yeah, but Christoph, did you, did you thumbs up it? You know? Um, so anyway, um, yeah. Theory I carry with me, not just in the garden, but in life also. Yeah. Yeah. You know, um, yeah. So thanks a hundred percent. Yeah. Appreciate, uh, you know, appreciate all you guys tuning in and check out that we'll, we'll continue with more Madadj next week. Um, you know, cool. Yeah. Cool.
1:05:27 he did thumbs up it. Well, I guess don't thumbs up it twice because that'll probably, if you do, do it in a thumbs up at an odd amount of times is what I can say. I don't know what that does. Maybe just click, click, clicking thumbs up and down. I don't know. But, you know, so thanks. Thanks for tuning in. Thanks for being here. Part of the office hours. You know, thanks for the super chats. We got, you know, some great super chats coming in today. It really helps me in addition to the peer KNF foundation and you being a member. So those of
1:05:56 you out there that are members really appreciate it looking forward to you seeing you next sunday as well for the extended time where we get to converse as a group and continue to build the group hive mind toward nourishing others and ourselves with open mouths towards beneficial thoughts foods uh you know spiritual emotional whatever we need good things like that appreciate you all love you all i'm gonna go out and deal with my cows and have a good time here and enjoy my Sunday. So, um, have a great, great week. I'll see you next week. Thank you. Thank you.
1:06:33 Thank you. Love. Aloha. I'm gonna burst out of here. See ya. Bye.
