OHN Pour-Off Ratios, KNF Sprayers, Piglet Diarrhea
Drake opens 2022 with an I Ching reading on Ching, The Well, then demos a Bio Nutrient Meter from the Hawaii Farmers Union United. It flashes five light wavelengths at produce to read nutrient density, works on ten crops so far, and is different from a Brix refractometer, which only reads sugar from squeezed juice.
Most of the hour is oriental herbal nutrient (OHN) troubleshooting: extract with at least 35% alcohol or the tincture comes out weak, do not filter the sediment at the bottom, and let it sit up to a month instead of two weeks if that fits your schedule better. On the classic pour-off debate, Drake pours off all the liquid, returns one third to the jar, and tops it back up with fresh alcohol to two thirds, mixing every batch together as taught by Pastor Lee and Master Cho. Lemongrass in the nesting boxes handles chicken mites, and hemp herd bedding helps too.
Other questions: skip pine or spruce material in IMO-3 since it is not digestible enough, LAB beats OHN for piglet diarrhea (put it straight in the mouth, works in about 15 minutes), and JADAM JMS should go on right after harvest, not right before, especially on leafy greens. A pig pen floor only self-heats a greenhouse if manure is actually decomposing under it.
He closes on sprayers (his 40-gallon tractor tank beats hauling a backpack unit), JADAM microbe solution for a locust problem, and why his hens are laying every other day instead of daily now that daylight is under 12 hours.
Questions answered
- 23:02 Can KNF help regenerate soil in abandoned mines? — Use indigenous microbes and KNF inputs to process toxins in the tailings, then replant with natural farming methods.
- 23:48 How does a Brix meter compare to the Bio Nutrient Meter? — A Brix meter reads sugar from squeezed juice on a refractometer; the Bio Nutrient Meter is non-invasive and reads five light wavelengths off the produce itself.
- 26:15 Is my OHN ruined if I only used 20-25% alcohol? — Not ruined, just a weaker extraction — Cho's literature calls for 35% alcohol or higher.
- 27:50 Can I let OHN extract longer than two weeks? — Yes, Drake pours off monthly instead, shaking the jar often in between.
- 29:33 What do you do for chicken mites? — Pack fresh lemongrass, chopped or whole, into the nesting boxes and roosting areas.
- 31:07 Should I filter the sediment at the bottom of OHN? — No, shake it up and use it — that sediment is the tinctured herbs.
- 32:39 Do you pour off one third or two thirds of OHN? — Pour off all the liquid, return one third to the jar, then refill with two thirds new alcohol, mixing every pour-off together.
- 36:30 Can I use crushed pine or spruce cones in IMO-3? — Avoid piney material in IMO-3 — it needs to be highly digestible, not slow to break down like pine needles.
- 38:58 My OHN sat untouched for months but smells fine — still usable? — Taste it first; if it is still alcoholic, it is safe to use.
- 39:45 How much LAB do you drink daily, and does it help IBS? — About a shot a day mixed into a drink, and yes, LAB helps replenish gut flora for IBS.
- 42:59 What sprayer is best for KNF — gas, electric, high PSI? — Prioritize what is easy on your back and gives broad coverage over chasing PSI; Drake runs a 40-gallon tractor sprayer with one liter of solution per tank.
- 48:42 My piglets have diarrhea — OHN or LAB? — LAB — feed or inject it straight into the mouth; it stabilizes diarrhea and can revive a downed animal within about 15 minutes.
- 56:40 Is there a crop you wouldn't spray JADAM JMS on? — Don't spray JMS right before harvest, especially leafy greens; spray right after harvest instead.
- 1:05:41 Locusts are devouring my beds — what should I do? — Spray JADAM microbe solution on the beds to knock the pest pressure down.
- 1:08:00 My chicken stopped laying for two weeks — why? — In winter it's daylight, not nutrition — under 12 light hours slows laying, and Drake would rather let them rest than force it with a light.

12:30 hey uh good morning good new year and uh thanks for tuning in to this morning's um natural farming office hours with dr drake myself and um got a special guest here today um my buddy flat eric came over this christmas and uh decided to join in and uh so he'll be with us here today helping advise me on all the serious decisions i need to make for korean natural farming um but uh before i get into today's uh answering some of your korean natural farming questions, wanted to do a natural farming or a, um, I Ching reading with you guys. So today is
13:25 Ching or the well return to the well of goodness. And, um, yeah, so no community can survive without a dependable source of pure water in a similar way. Human beings cannot survive without a reliable source of spiritual nourishment. In fact, we need two wells, an external source of guidance, such as the I Ching, and an internal source of guidance, which must be our own good character. This hexagram comes to encourage you to concentrate on developing, purifying, and utilizing your two wells. Notice the name of this hexagram, Qing, the well. The I Ching has
14:13 survived in countless civilizations for thousands of years for a simple reason. It is an inexhaustible source of spiritual nourishment. It provides us with the fundamental building blocks of a successful life. If you approach it sincerely without mistrust or frivolity, it will guide you through every difficult hour with unimpeachable wisdom. If you muddy the well, however, by doubting the I Ching or by placing your ego desires above the counsel it gives you, you impede your own progress. the purest of wells the i ching is also an invaluable aid in developing and cleansing
15:03 the internal well of our own good character it will if you are sincere reveal to you the fundamental issues of your life and it will instill in you the values necessary to successfully negotiate those issues the hexagram ching comes to encourage you not to muddy the well of your own good character in any way now. In relating to others, look beyond any external faults of muddiness and acknowledge the clear well exists somewhere inside of them. No person is without this, and by speaking to it, you strengthen it. If you follow these
15:46 councils, you will meet with true and lasting success. Well, isn't that nice? We just have to return to the well of goodness and 2022 will be all right for us, I think. Keeping it together. So I want to welcome you guys back. And before I jump into any questions or answers here, I just I just wanted to share some pretty cool information slash technology. So it's in this box here, but it's already been opened and I couldn't get the box to shut again.
16:31 But what is in here is a bionutrient meter, the bionutrient meter. And this comes to me from the Hawaii Farmers Union United and compliments of Dan Kitteridge and the Bionutrient Food Association. If you look up their YouTube and you are into, you know, natural farming, bio nutrient dense food, regenerative soil practices, their website is amazing. So let's see, what do we got here?
17:18 So I got this little device here and what it does is it has a little flap. Let me open it properly here. This little flap and there's five different LEDs that shoot five different frequencies into your food. And those capture the light coming back into this sensor and using those different wavelengths. wavelengths they're able to use physics to analyze the chemistry of the food that you are scanning so say my finger was in there and i could scan it and i scan it three times in three different places on my finger to get an average bio nutrient density of what you know what what is the chemistry
18:08 of my hand like how much chromium is in my hand for instance and this um this chromium element I don't know. It should be. But this little meter here, and it hooks up wirelessly to Bluetooth to the phone here. So with this, I can read this information. And right now, this thing only works for, I think, 10 crops. So don't get too excited. It only works. Let me see. It says somewhere on here. Okay, it works for beets, bok choy, carrots, kale, lettuce, zucchini, wheat, Swiss chard, oats,
18:54 and mustard greens. So those are the 10 crops that this bionutrient meter works on. But so far, we've scanned Christian Zuckerman's carrots on Wyanai in the Farmers Union, and they came out 93. So whatever that means with the bionutrient meter, I think it was measuring bioflavonoids or some sort of thing that it was measuring the chemistry of these kind of more advanced, more dense things. And so we also got to talk to Dan Kitteridge for an hour. and so go grow pro is saying you know um can't wait till that until it becomes an option for
19:41 phones as an app and so what he um what dan is hoping is that eventually like you know here's like a fingerprint scanner on my phone right there could be the the bio nutrient or you know these leds could be the bio nutrient scanner um i feel like i gotta sneeze oh oh man i'm gonna have the rona um but it could be one of the um one of the sensors here could be this bionutrient meter so you could actually put this bionutrient meter right on your phone walk into the store grab produce and um scan this and understand the nutrient density and then if you're
20:30 able to understand the nutrient density of what's on your, you know, scan the produce with your phone, then you get a nutrient density readout, then, um, then you could start to his hope, Dan's hope, my hope is that this will then make us adjust our farming practices. So it's our, it's our premise that using farming practices such as Korean natural farming, regenerative ag including the bio food web these things and you know being able to measure the density in your food and that being one of the things you know I'm focused on this year
21:10 closing those loops getting those loops together so that my you know my bio nutrients are coming from here and starting to concentrate into my foods if i'm if i'm just growing you know empty food and i i scan it with this machine and i scan it and says oh this this food this food is empty then what's what's the point of growing it what's the point of eating it what's the point of you know, engaging in producing empty food. So that's what I wanted to introduce you with. We also did a whole bunch more at the Hawaii Farmers Union United conference.
21:59 It's up via donation on their YouTube, Hawaii Farmers Union United. And all those good things are there. Hope you had a good new year. Hoping that these office hours will continue this year. So let me, instead of just announcements, let me jump into some questions here that were emailed to me. My email is drakedrake.org. and so you can email questions to me get in touch um here irma emailed me um actually
22:47 earlier this month i have took a couple weeks off um so she said hope you're having a nice trip um and she's talking about people regenerating soils and abandoned mines has it ever been used for such a thing how would you approach such a challenge so when you're talking about mines and maybe mine tailings and these soils that are coming from deep subsoil earth projects um knf especially protectors as well as the microbes are really good at helping to eliminate toxins. So if there's any tailings or anything in there that you want to
23:39 process, get through using microbes on the mine tailings coming out, spraying them, you know, most of the time they want to like take a mine area afterward and replant it. So using natural farming there. I think, you know, if you're talking about abandoned mines drilled into the earth. I don't know, you know, if they're leaking toxins, I would say use natural farming as a way to, you know, get these indigenous microbes in there. And then, yeah, so I hope you're able to tune in today and get that answer. If you can, in the chat, say anything good there, help clarify what's going on.
24:24 um so um you know um the grow pro is saying here in the chat that about um a bricks measuring machine and that's you know you can you can use a bricks meter bricks measures sugars and so to understand how sugars relate to health like using a bricks meter where you take some juice and drip it on the screen and put it through a refractometer. Um, you can kind of develop or, um, understand how much, um, sugars in there, but this bio nutrient meter here is a little bit different. It actually reflects back onto this, um, this, uh, you know, your fruit would be here.
25:10 And so there's five LEDs that flash from here and measure onto you in a receptor that measure onto your fruit and they'll bounce off this and then you actually also calibrate it with this thing here that that fits inside so you're not a bricks meter you got to cut it and put it a put the juice against the meter this is non-invasive I could I could measure like without measuring like my blood I could measure you know my bio nutrients by just putting my um, putting, putting my finger here, I can measure, you know, what, what is the chemistry?
25:50 What is the physics of my finger? So it's, I don't have to cut myself open. So it's a little bit different than bricks. Um, so had those questions there. Let's see. Um, got another question here. Um, lots of folks are, oh, he's, he's actually, he's asking that his OHN may have been made with alcohol with only 20 to 25%. Um, does he think it's ruined? And, um, no, I don't think it's a hundred percent ruined. Uh, 30% is usually like 35% is, is what, um, It says in Cho's literature, if you look it up in these, in the old school books, which I thought I had one laying around here.
26:46 I don't. But yeah, 35% alcohol should be where you want to be. If you did it with a less alcohol than that, what happens to you? Well, it just doesn't extract as much. So that's what you end up with. So let's see here. I was going to look here into this book and see. Also, if you're curious about the solutions, here's the medicine. This is from my book here. There's also some angelica seeds in there. But yeah, it's saying that, you know, use alcohol 35% or greater. And that's from, you know, Master Cho's book. That's always what's been passed down.
27:34 I mean, you know, if you use less than that, what's going to happen? Weaker. I don't know. Some people use less herbs, all kinds of things. It's, um, it's a very strong solution. So, um, yeah. And I know making OHN is a lot of hard work. Um, the new year's picture I just sent out was us with our OHN. We're making a batch right now. shout out to mountain rose herbs for the um for the ingredients and um the garlic and ginger and um good good thing to make um yeah no no questions today everyone's just kind of thankful so glad glad to be with you guys there
28:19 oh uh rahim is asking could you let it go for longer when extracting okay And so with my with my KNF medicine, I because I teach classes about once a month here at the farm, I actually pour off once a month instead of every two weeks. So I do let it go longer. It's sitting right behind me. It's sitting right there. and so what I try to do is when I come in here from my office and I stop by the sink I take the can of medicine I and I shake it instead of stirring it every day I shake it and I don't shake it every day but I shake it a lot probably at least 14 times over that month and then when
29:12 students come we pour these off and I have five gallon buckets of it sitting up at the barn that we pour off into and then I mix new, um, new vodka in there. Um, so I do let it go longer than two weeks. I let it go about, you know, uh, one month, four weeks. Um, GoPro, grow pro is asking, what do I do for chicken mites? Um, so I get chicken mites every so often. Um, the wild birds bring it in cause I do not stop the wild birds from flying in. They fly into the cage. And I put lemongrass. So I grow lemongrass here in Hawaii.
29:58 And I put that into their laying box. I put that where they're sleeping. I put that wherever they're congregating. Sometimes I'll chop the lemongrass in about four to six inch pieces. sometimes I'll use it just fully um as a long strip but lemongrass keeps the mites out keeps it from getting to the birds um helps that whole process go on so um my OHM my medicine extraction jars oh hey hey thanks yeah um thanks for the super chat funding five dollars oh and also um i did i did get another um
30:53 hundred dollar donation in cash as well as last time there was a bunch of donors uh unfortunately if i don't save the super chat right away i can't um can't tell who sent the message because it doesn't let me save super chat in my replays for some reason um okay so earthbound organics is asking if there's sediment at the bottom of the knf medicine should you filter that out no you should shake that up and in so at the bottom each time you go to use your K&F medicine, there should be a layer of sediment at the bottom. And what you want to do is shake it.
31:39 Anytime you're using that, it'll layer. Don't filter that out. That's good stuff. That's your garlic. That's your cinnamon. That's your licorice. That's your angelica. Like whatever that herb is, it's tinctured there at the bottom. You want to shake that up and shake that in. So each time you're using K&F medicine, the oriental herbal nutrient, you want to shake it up really well before you use it. What's up, Indiana? Stone Mason? What's up? Do any extraction compensate for the, or do an extra extraction? Oh, should you do an extra extraction to compensate? I don't
32:22 know. See how your last pour off is. Usually by my fifth pour off, it's really thin. It's really obvious it's my fifth pour off um so versus my first which is sugary um um yeah so anyway um i wouldn't compensate for that too much do you okay do you pour off do pour one third of the extraction or two-third in ohn so this is this is the classic um controversy question in Korean natural farming is do you pour off one third or two thirds? Many relationships have been spoiled over this question, but Master Cho taught it in, or actually Pastor Lee taught it in front
33:11 of Master Cho. And the way he taught it is that when you're pouring off, so if I'm done with a extraction jar, say, say this jar was, was full of, you know, I've fermented the herbs and I filled it up with alcohol and I've shaken it for two weeks now I'm going to extract it I pour off all of the all of the liquid okay all of the liquid because I want all that stuff that's in here out that goes into this other reserve bin say let's see that'll be this one so I pour all that into here this is my mixing bin then this jar here that has my herbs still in it i take
33:57 from this jar that all of this was poured off and i pour back in one third so from all this being poured into here i pour back in one third then i add two-thirds alcohol then that's shaken then next two weeks when i can pour this off again i pour all the liquid off into this jar so this would be the first and the second pour-offs now into this jar then from here i pour back in one-third and then i add new alcohol up to the two you know fill it up to the brim new alcohol and so and i can do that five times so the next time again pour all of it off this would be my
34:48 second third or first second third pour offs in here then pour one third back in so i'm mixing each time all my pour offs are being mixed then reseeded back into my jar then that's being filled up two thirds with alcohol like you know refilled all the way to the brim with alcohol so that's that's the ohi chen that's the way i teach it that's the proper way that's the way pastor lee teaches it that's the way master cho teaches it that's the way all the literature says it um some other folks do teach other ways and other ways apparently do work um but that is the
35:23 way that i i use i teach um and that way you're mixing all these things so i i know there's a huge, great, um, you know, OHN controversy, but that's the way, that's the way to make KNF medicine. So there's no KNF medicine controversy, the, you know, this way of understanding it, this way of doing it, you're mixing all your batches up, you're getting them all together. Then afterwards, you'll, you'll end up with, um, five or six of these pour offs. So have five or six of these, like a garlic, a ginger, a cinnamon, licorice, and jellica. And, um, one of the other one I missed,
35:59 then those are then you take some of those you combine those into one other jar to make your what you would consider canf medicine to use so you keep these different herbs all their pour-offs that you've done from all these different jars in these different containers and when you keep them separate they stay you know good and longer so that's that's all there about KNF medicine. I mean, there's, there's lots more about it, but that's, that's the way I explain how to do it. It's, it's really pretty simple. Um, but getting that way, that way you're
36:37 getting a good tincture each time. So argue in the comments about that bicker bicker or one third, two thirds, am I that kind of person? And hopefully that explanation is clear of how to do it. Okay. Um, so Julia, Hey Julia, aloha. Yeah. Thanks. New hat. Yes. Uh, shiny, fresh, new year. Um, any thoughts on using crushed pine or spruce zones with IMO three material? I would avoid, um, piney things that are, um, that are going to get in there. IMO three, you want to be super digestible. Like think about like, um, beer grains or these other things where they're, um,
37:28 they are not the same way as like composting. We're going to break down pine leaves or pine needles. Try to use something that is, um, you know, like I'm, I'm don't, don't mix that into your IMO three, maybe a, a four or five, like composting, use those. Um, but you should really, you know i think animal feeds you wouldn't feed pine needles to an animal um so hopefully that answered the one-third two-thirds questions man that's that's like one of the most controversial things in natural farming and um so your uh tom mato 33 is saying
38:11 which had such hard time with mites last year had to pull all the wood shavings out of the co-op or coop and burn it, replace the sand treat with, uh, Lector PSP and the shavings. I mean, good biochar though. Oh, well, so, um, so I don't, um, so I use, um, hemp herd in my, um, in my egg laying box. I buy this special stuff that my friend, um, sells out of Michigan called hemp herd and it, um, and then I mix in the lemongrass to that if it starts to get, um, you know, mites or anything. So, um, people use, um, the rice hulls in Korea for the egg laying
38:58 box, but yeah, um, that's, that's what I recommend. And then, you know, a living floor of, of hay or yeah of actually not hay but um straw okay um yeah so you left the last batch um can um and then then he's asking he lost the last batch of ohn for a few months it looks and smells fine would you still use it um taste if you've left your ohn for a while, taste it to make sure it is still alcoholy. If it's still alcoholic, then, um, then it seems safe to use. Um, like, does it, cause if the alcohol is evaporated off,
39:45 it's, it's not really that great for, for use anyway. So, so do check that. Um, but if it, you know, smells fine, looks fine. That's good. It's worth a taste. Hey, what's up, Matt, how's it? And, um, yeah. Hey Matt. Um, so let's see here. Okay. So, um, so someone's asking how much LAB do I consume daily? Um, you know, recently I had, last couple days, Suze made me a drink with about, you know, a shot of OHN and drank that.
40:38 And yeah, how much do I consume daily? She made like a salty drink with LAB and some other things in there. It's really good. I don't know if I drink it every day, but I try to. If you're trying to get rid of IBS, you know, yeah, drinking LAB helps. Maybe even get in an IMO bath if you can. Those, yeah, the LAB is the gut flora you want to have. So by consuming that each time you're eating food, you're always replenishing with the goods. Um, and that,
41:26 that's, that's pretty crucial, you know, um, always putting the right microbes with the right food supply and everything to help with that. Um, oh man, someone got the Rona and she, uh, He's saying that sweet Annie tea really helped, which is sweet wormwood, also OHN, and a turkey tail mushroom extraction made the same way as OHN. And that's a good idea. You know, making different, you know, following that same KNF medicine recipe of taking, you know, whatever it is. Say I took turkey tail mushrooms and I pick them.
42:11 then I ferment them with sugar, maybe even soak them with a little bit of beer, and then ferment them, and then pack them in a jar, then add the alcohol in, and then drink it later. Like that really, those, I do it with turmeric, I do it now with, you know, turkey tail sounds like a great way to do it. That fermentation and then tincturing unlocks these medicinal principles that are just so divine. And infusions. Oh, yeah. Flatirik is here today. Yeah. So anyway,
42:59 there are, I got some more questions here. So the percentage of OHN. And then here, people have been asking about sprayers. And, you know, what could be more important than having a good way to get KNF out onto your land into your field other than if you have some pesticide sprayer left over. Here they're asking about my Maruyama power sprayer. It's a two cycle gas powered sprayer and this guy was thinking about a less expensive lithium
43:52 battery powered sprayer. So an electric sprayer, um, for his quarter acre yard with fruit trees. Um, and he wants it to have less than, uh, Oh, Oh, but he's saying that the electric sprayer has less than 80 PSI. Whereas the Maruyama is like 365 PSI. So, um, and there's other sprayers, misters foggers could i weigh in on the importance of high pressure units and implications of sprayers misters and foggers oh what a good question for good new year is how you know this is like seems like one of those youtube clickbait questions like best sprayer to use for korean
44:41 natural farming or something like that and a way to get good sponsorship some sort of thing what I recommend you use of all things all those things are great you know points good things to think about not to put in your head but what I recommend you think about is your back that if you are thinking about a sprayer and you're thinking about walking around your back is the most important thing. And you want a sprayer that's easy to get broad coverage, to spray your whole yard, to be, um, you know, make it simple. If you only have a quarter acre, some, some electric
45:27 sprayer, you know, um, they sell little ATV sprayers. They sell little, um, uh, things that'll help you spray all over from, from little things to big things. What I use on my farm, I do have the Maruyama two-stroke sprayer. I got that because I set up a 35 gallon trash can. And then from there I can run a hose, um, almost, uh, a hundred feet or so from, from there. And I can put out a mist. It's really easy. It's super easy to handle, but I haven't been using it recently
46:12 because each time I use it, then I got to rinse it down, do all these other things. What I've been using instead is the tractor spur. So this year, I think I'm going to design my whole farm. I'm going to put in a few more roads where I can reach in and drive with my tractor and just spray everything. So I got a 40 gallon sprayer on the back of my tractor that 40 gallons will handle up to, you know, I'm spraying about two and a half acres or so, two acres, some fruit trees. It's not like I'm spraying everything though. I'm spraying some fruit trees. I'm spraying a bunch of
46:55 polyculture, spraying some orchards of bananas and polyculture with sugarcane, cassava. And so that 40-gallon sprayer enables me to mix up a gallon of maintenance spray per month. And then each time I go to spray, I pour in one liter. So I'm into that 40 gallons, I'm putting in, uh, you know, uh, what is that? Yeah. A quarter, I don't know if it's court, but, but definitely a leader of, um, of maintenance spray. And then I go spray around and that's by far the easiest for me. I just roll through. It gives me a chance to look at the crops while I'm
47:44 driving, spray everything, um, you know, um, yeah, take care, take care of that way. Um, you know, and, and this year I'm hoping to increase my frequency of spraying two once a week. Really, if I can, if I can be out there spraying once a week, that'll be the biggest game changer. Um, you know, I, um, we've been drilling the fish, but, um, really spraying the land. So, um, let's see here okay so yep yep so he's talking about rehydrating any dried mushroom turkey tail if you get because they're already kind of dry um and then fermented them um and dab is saying he used a
48:33 horseradish tincture in his ohn herbs awesome uh yeah all these things have medicinal benefits Um, so Cesare is asking that his piglets suffer from diarrhea between OHN and LAB, which is best to help them. Diarrhea. Yeah. Diarrhea. You got to watch out for that, man. the number one thing for diarrhea lactobacillus um yep make some knf protectors um feed them feed them the um the curds and the whey put it in their water have them drink that put a little bit of ohn
49:24 in their water if you have it but lab is going to stabilize the diarrhea have them drink it have them eat it have them consume it and it'll also help them recover from stress if you have an animal that's downed say the animal's laying down and it's like oh no this guy's dead is he alive oh no gotta do cpr take lab and inject it into their mouth and the animal will get up and it will stand up and can't promise it but it may start dancing and i can't promise that every time but if the animal's laying down and it's not just taking a nap inject lab in its mouth with a syringe
50:15 and it'll suck it down and i've seen animals get back up and say hello and come back to life so So LAB is your friend. If they're pooping and it's coming out of their butt, a whole bunch. Again, LAB in the mouth. 15 minutes, it gets into their intestines. It helps to cure that. Whatever bacteria, whatever pathogen was causing a bad response is then good and they feel better. So LAB is your friend there. um ohn is okay to use but it's not it's not like that type of emergency thing the the purpose of knf medicine is more of a preventative um immune stim uh stimulant immune system stimulant so if
51:04 you take uh the knf medicine on the daily you're getting much more of a um stimulant than a emergency correction that's why it's knf protectors they come in they like you know arrest the bad guys get the good situation under control and bring it back to balance because it's all about balance um so is there a knf solution we can add to our polyculture medicinal teas to lift our spirits in the new year and bring happiness when we go to our garden and give our to our plants too um shoot is there a natural you know what i recommend this here oh my gosh i'm gonna spill
51:53 it but flat eric brought me over some john levi coffee tartarian blend actually sue's got this for me but um but uh try putting coffee on your plants no what is what's gonna bring new year's cheer for you this year man i don't know uh fermenting good stuff um what's use what's at your feet i mean what's you know what's gonna help me i think this year 2022 i see it as a year my you know my prediction on the year i see it as a year of more more inflation more um what they're going to
52:39 say is climate change but really it's ecosystem degradation and destruction um i see it as a year of um knowing your food and knowing your garden is going to be you're going to be much happier in 2023 when we end up there you know so what solution can i give you i mean all of these man tune into the office hours this year coming up um i don't know it's not necessarily directly for your garden but it's learn things here sharing the community um start practicing natural farming start drinking these things start um you know watching these videos i wish i could say you know
53:23 travel here to Hawaii and learn, but come, come to the farm if you can, you know, this year we're, we're going to have different experiences open up here where if you want to come warm up in Hawaii, get, get some tropical sunshine, learn, um, knffarm.com, check it out. Um, and yeah, I mean, what what what is a solution for 2022 other than you know really it's like a test of our everything you've learned so far to to employ to put into practice to teach to share with each other um what's solution water always always clean water you know what's the most important thing clean water puts you know
54:12 put some good microbes in there make sure they clean it up um yeah uh you know got some question here what do i think of the pig pen floor design would work for a greenhouse floor for passive heat in winter um yeah so you're not gonna if you're gonna put pigs in it'll definitely heat up because they'll have the nitrogen falling down the carbon below kind of creating that little fire if you're not going to have pigs in there and you're looking just to do a heat you're going to have to add an additional manure to it it's like chicken manure or pig manure or cow manure
54:51 and bury that in there to get that same heat to happen if you're gonna you just make a passive heated floor like a pig pen floor um so um yeah i yeah you know i mean of all of all the things i do that lately that I've been lifting my spirits is, is it's walking out in the garden, walking out in the fields. Uh, you know, I've been flying a drone over my land for the past year, two years. Um, and when I look at where I was in 2020, um, to where I am here today, starting 2022 off January 2nd, 2022, it, it, that's lifts my spirits. When I look at all the sugar cane,
55:35 just getting you know this thick and um you know coming in rolling uh bananas where i i i was standing in one spot looking around and there were 10 racks of bananas around me and that kind of abundance that kind of that you know that lifts my spirits that i know that practicing this way is leading to abundance is leading to this fulfillment if we all globally understand health then that lifts my spirits too because then we can learn how to make a thriving ecosystem which is the most important thing it's the most important thing thriving ecosystem healthy soils
56:14 you know these things we need i'm just like oh what are we doing otherwise if we have natural farming we can bring the soil to life there's thousands of ways to do it this is just these solutions are just nine easy simple ways to do it um so what else do we got here i was just wondering if there's any uh eyewitness what's up eyewitness good to see you back um i was just i hope i wonder if you guys linked up right you're in florida i thought and then you're trying to link up with someone else hey man i was just wondering if there is a crop like leafy greens that I wouldn't use Jadam JMS on.
56:52 So I would not use Jadam JMS on something I'm about to eat and shove in my mouth right away because Jadam JMS is questionable at best, right? um no jadam jms has its own set of problems right you don't want to be putting that stuff on things you're about to eat there's all kinds of microbes there anaerobes that you are not sure about so what you want to do is you want to spray that stuff a couple days before then eat it um and you know especially leafy greens they're classic like where do you
57:40 get salmonella outbreaks like leafy green spinach outbreak of salmonella recall man that's where things that if you spray that aren't good are going to live it in how can i guarantee your gms is good i can't so just don't you know spray things right before you eat it with those things if you can help it there's no point to anyway why are you spraying gms right before you harvest it spray it right after you harvest it you know get your soil going again but right before you harvest it you might want to spray you know just just a can of finishing solution just a can of harvest
58:14 solution which you know if you um speaking of things to plug in the new year if you pull up my app here and plug in say you wanted to put a gallon of harvest solution out there the app would tell you you know within a few seconds it would tell you you're going to need four mils of ohn and four mils of calcium and 189 mils of seawater and that's what you want to put in one gallon of harvest solution not the rest of the stuff um so these things you know if you have them around you want to use them properly you got to get the calculator got to get the book you know
58:56 but i how many of you guys by show of hands in the chat already have all this stuff the book the calculator you know the app these things i mean it just makes life easy for knf at least for me that's why i made them for myself too i always look at them i'm like what did i say oh yeah right here no um so yeah yeah i like that you guys are building kind of community in the chat too it's good oh let's see here um you made your first im03 pile and say things went well except for a couple times i caught 130 degrees then it got swarmed by ants but that's that's fine if as
59:41 long as the um microbes weren't above 120 for too long like if they're you know it's like it's like you're growing different sets of citizens and if you get them above 130 the guys you grow are not necessarily the guys you want. And so, yeah, as long as you catch it and turn the pile and get it together should all be good. um you know the app is available if you have like a chromebook you can download the app and
1:00:26 use it that way um and i think maybe for the um the iphone you might be able to do something similar but um yeah um in terms of figuring out the costs i was i had the spreadsheet up the other day and um should share that with you here let me see if i can actually pull that up um Let me see here.
1:01:13 So I don't have an app for the... Yeah. Okay. So what I, what I pulled up here are some solutions. So if you're saying you wanted to do a treatment area of 10 acres here, and what you have is you want to do, um, spray 25 gallons per acre. Let me see if I can zoom this
1:02:04 and it calculates this here for you to say this would be the rough cost of what it would take to put in all of the different solutions so like if you put in the these are just the acronyms here But if you put in these different solutions here, what the assumed costs are, what 250 gallons of that spray would cost you, and what four applications of that would cost you to do 1,000 gallons in total, spraying 25 gallons per acre to treat 10 acres of land.
1:02:51 And so if you make that 100 acres... 100 acres here it just you know adjusts all these costs up for you to understand what what that would be and what it would cost to do like 100 gallons per acre and all that so so in addition to the app there's also you know that that spreadsheet there to kind of
1:03:36 figure things out but oh yeah yeah go grow pro is saying there's probably an app to um figure out how to download into the Mac iOS. It's called the KNF Solution Calculator. And it's out there on the iOS store. And then there's also one on the Android store. KNF Solution Calculator.
1:04:26 Let's see here. And then let's see. is there i think there's some more questions here oh so well to finish up on the um sprayer question here um you know i i don't i'm not sure on the the psis and those things i know you know my tractor puts out pretty pretty um decent amount of pressure the main thing is like like i said make it easy make it so you can spray well and have you know um easy access to everything um and don't carry a bunch of water carrying water is pretty much um pretty much suicide in terms of if you want to make it easy you gotta
1:05:15 gotta make it easy okay um here i had a question from a while ago this was actually november asking about from Don Holla asking about well she's thankful that Master Cho's videos are available and then yeah seems like magic synchronization okay so she's talking about locusts devouring her beds um and so you know what i would recommend
1:06:11 if you're having she's saying jadam settle for the winter and if you're definitely it's already full-on winter but if you haven't spray some jadam microbe solution out there and she's still working on a bunch of things for this spring yeah so okay well question here of being oh well hey thanks for the donation oh appreciate it get 20 20 bucks yeah even suz is happy uh trying to trying to answer these questions and trying to get back to them but um you know if anyone's familiar with the jadam
1:06:59 microbial solutions um jadam herbal solution if you're experiencing a whole bunch of pests you know those are pretty decent solutions i'm always into um the probiotic pure knf just go go for it ways yeah hey thanks thanks man yeah i appreciate the love coming out um but yeah that you know there's there's so many solutions in natural farming um definitely do put some jadam microbe solution out there um as you're making your things come along um also you know So, yeah, here, Cheryl got some good advice here. Seven pounds per gallon.
1:07:47 What do you mean? What are you talking about, Cheryl? Seven pounds per gallon? Yeah, so, oh, Jamaica. Yeah, Jamaica. Um, yeah. Oh, maybe you're talking about, oh, how much water weighs. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, it's heavy. It gets heavy fast. okay so if your chicken stopped laying eggs for two weeks now okay so if you want your chicken to increase the amount it is laying you can add more knf structure to their water or their food
1:08:43 If you're fermenting their food, add a little bit more. It helps to kickstart their reproductive system. So it's not a sure sign. Like for me right now, it's wintertime. So right now what's affecting their laying is not necessarily nutritional. It's environmental. So it's the late hours. I think they have less than 12 light hours. and so their laying rate has decreased. I'm getting about half as much eggs as I do during the summer. Um, and, but they are still laying, they're laying every other day now. Um, so it's
1:09:26 not, um, it's not a, you know, even if I fed them better right now, I'd have to put a light up there, which I'm just not wanting to do with my chickens to kind of force them like robots to lay. I'd rather let them appreciate the laying less in the winter and, um, doing that. Um, so yeah. Yeah. Okay. Um, yeah. So don't, um, so again, I just, you know, I want to wish you guys happy new year. Um, put up a picture. Let's see what else, um, what else is good for the new year? I think there was one more question I was going to get to here. Okay. Yeah. I do have one more here from Clayton.
1:10:27 Oh, you know, it's, it's more questions about compost, but those, those questions, you know, answered pretty well sharing compost, you know. Hoping this here goes good for everybody. Let's see, is there any? Yeah, let's see here. I'm going to open this up here on this side. And wish everybody here. Let's see if I can transition that. so yeah wishing wishing everyone a happy late christmas had had some technical difficulties
1:11:14 this last um with a couple weeks and actually left my laptop on maui so got that back and then here and then got my bio nutrient meter had the natural farming convention and but we've been busy making microbes on the farm getting some good production um going for this 2022 look forward to if you come and visit us here on the farm see hang out with the pigs hang out with the animals hang out with us um get some trillions of microbes get a knf um bath this year um might be making some plans to come to america and do something out there so um all kinds of
1:12:02 good things happen in the new year want to thank um folks today um stonemason for throwing down um and also um growpro knf for throwing down some donations making it worth our time effort energy good exchange with you guys um i want to thank you for returning to the well of goodness which is our natural farming solutions help us get this out here to the world sharing some good microbes from my place to your place and um finding your indigenous microbes strengthening them, feeding them, bringing our world to life. Yeah. Mahalo. Kia kua. Mahalo nui.
1:12:49 And happy new year. Yeah. Aloha.
