knfFuel Mold, Jadam Pasture Recovery, OHN & Alcohol
George's knfFuel batch used 3 kilograms of fish and 3.5 kilograms of brown sugar. Drake explains the sugar cap always dissolves within the first day as lactobacillus kicks in, and white mold on top is normal and harmless, usually lactobacillus or bacillus simplex. No IMO or OHN is needed to make fish amino acid; both can even eat the fats and oils you want to keep.
For reviving 24 acres of pasture before sowing wheat, peas, and cannabis, Drake recommends diluting Jadam microbe solution ("the disgustingly cheap microbes") 1:100 to 1:500 with fresh water and applying it twice, a week apart, letting the water carry microbes deep into the soil. He also covers the soil foundation recipe, using nearly-decomposed manure as microbe food, and confirms KNF and Jadam work together to rebuild the soil food web.
OHN cannot be made without alcohol; it is what extracts the medicine from the herbs, and letting the alcohol evaporate ruins the batch. Herbicide residue like Garzon in fermentation material is not a major worry: with enough IMOs and biochar, microbes break the poison down into nutrients. Drake shows before-and-after photos of a Roundup-poisoned lot in downtown Hilo brought back to life with biochar, dried fish, dolomite, and IMOs.
Other topics: transplanting nursery starts by withholding water and rotating the pot 90 degrees to stress the plant before a 15-minute seed soak solution bath; using sugar instead of salt for ferments because yeast is salt-sensitive (cap any added salt at 10 percent); a thin white crust on IMO2 is normal, especially in a jar less than two-thirds full; coco coir, banana stalk, coffee grounds, and potato starch all work as IMO3/Jadam substrates; and adding OHN and lactic acid bacteria to wild bird water during bird flu season, since the disease spreads from confinement and poor airflow, not healthy birds outdoors.
Questions answered
- 14:37 George's knfFuel batch (3kg fish, 3.5kg sugar) grew white mold on top — is that OK? — Yes — the sugar cap always dissolves once lactobacillus kicks in, and surface mold (often bacillus simplex) is harmless; no IMO or OHN needed to make fish amino acid.
- 22:18 How to recover 24 acres of pasture before sowing wheat, peas, cannabis, using cheap Jadam microbes? — Dilute Jadam microbe solution 1:100 to 1:500 and apply twice, a week apart, before sowing, using water as a carrier to drive microbes deep; add nearly-decomposed manure as food.
- 29:20 Are KNF and Jadam compatible for rebuilding the soil food web? — Yes — Jadam drenches anaerobic microbes deep in the soil while KNF supports the aerobic topsoil and foliar layer, together rebuilding the food web.
- 34:50 Is moldy fish amino acid safe to eat or use? — Drake eats it himself when it smells sweet — the mold is mostly lactobacillus, and a good nose is the real test.
- 36:29 Can blended potatoes plus IMO2 and woodchips make a good IMO3, even with herbicide-contaminated feed? — Yes, potatoes add carbs, fats and oils that excite fungal growth; more potato slurry is better than less.
- 38:04 Can OHN be made without tincturing it in alcohol? — No — alcohol is what draws the medicine out of the herbs; without it, the batch is just compost.
- 42:41 Does herbicide residue (Garzon/Roundup) in fermentation material ruin the batch? — No — with enough microbes and biochar present, microbes break the herbicide down into nutrients rather than being harmed by it.
- 49:00 Can I use my OHN right after the first extraction? — Yes, Rule Zero — never let it stop you from growing; just keep pours separate and blend later batches in as they age.
- 51:12 Do I need OHN to make IMO4? — No, it's optional — KNF protectors and other inputs can stand in, and Drake's own early natural farming worked without it.
- 52:37 Any nursery or transplant tips beyond seed soak solution and IMO4? — Keep the plant's orientation consistent; before transplanting, withhold water and rotate the pot 90 degrees to stress it, then bare-root it in seed soak solution 15 minutes.
- 57:00 Why use sugar instead of salt for fermentation? — Sugar suits the yeasts and lactobacillus KNF relies on since yeast is salt-sensitive; up to about 10 percent salt can be added, but no more.
- 58:35 Our IMO2 has a thin white crust on top — is that OK? — Yes, it's normal, especially in a jar that's not filled at least two-thirds full.
- 1:04:12 Is potato starch the best carb for Jadam microbe solution, and should OHN go in bird water during bird flu? — Potatoes work best but any starch works; add OHN and lactic acid bacteria to bird water — bird flu spreads from confinement and poor airflow, not healthy birds.
- 1:07:22 What's a great base plant for fermented plant juice (FPJ)? — Dandelion — fast-growing and vigorous, it makes a powerful FPJ.

9:00 Welcome to Office Hours for Easter, April 17th, 2022. yeah yeah no I you know so I've been so I realized so just before I before I get into anything with the sound I just want to address that so last week I was running this thing from OBS through a virtual camera into StreamYard and then having that come back to us and um so
9:51 I've been configuring things differently to try to get them to work but I looked at last week's video and it's all like really low quality and super pixelated and stuff and so it has something to do with like the virtual camera not rendering at the same resolution anyway it's a whole thing on um open broadcast studio and trying to make all this work but first and foremost i want to thank you guys for tuning in um happy easter happy um you know christ is risen it's a great great day had a great Friday. I don't know if anyone else had a good Friday, but you know, hey, it's good.
10:30 Good to be alive. Good to be here with you. Good to be doing natural farming. And I got a bunch of questions up here in my email. But before I jump into that, I want to just start off with you guys and do a little bit of I Ching for today. Because what a better day than to be thinking of higher things and spiritual essences. And today is all about inner truth. And it says, through openness and gentleness, the correct solution is reached. Arriving at the correct solution to a difficult situation requires receptivity to inner truth.
11:13 Unless we are willing to put aside the strong emotions of our egos and devote ourselves to discovering what is right, there can be no hope of progress at this time. Hope only comes when we invite it with a sincere and innocent attitude. The I Ching teaches us a simple but effective method of influencing difficult people and arduous situations. It advises us first to lay aside our prejudices, our feelings of being wounded, angry, or in the right, and second to understand the position of others and the lessons that the sage is teaching us with the situation.
11:51 Even when another is truly out of line, it is only by accepting this and remaining balanced that you make it possible for great change to occur. Gentleness and understanding create in others an unconscious willingness to be led. The superior person, therefore, avoids the use of anger and force in trying times, knowing that they only prolong conflict. It is far wiser to accept that each experience we have is necessary for us to learn something about ourselves and about the higher laws of life. the greatest openings come when we meet difficulty with acceptance
12:32 gentleness and desire to understand the lesson underneath so definitely definitely true with natural farming right it's kind of this inner truth these microbes that we can't see we have to just um you know believe that they're there and then we can see the proof and the results in our life. So similar metaphor. I always like to bring the microbes into the spiritual bit of that and bringing that through. Okay, so yay. Happy Easter. Welcome, guys. What's up, Benjamin, Jacob, my Roy.
13:24 Yeah, man, it's always fun to do debug things live in front of everybody and run these things. I tried to do these sound checks before, and it looks like it's working for me, but there's only one test, and that's to go live and to test it out in the real world. Oh, yeah, so you're saying, Jacob's saying, you can see the microbes, you just have to be assisted. that's right I mean kind of kind of with anything else like you can find people and tools to to look but in your everyday life you know the rest requires kind of faith and or a big miraculous
14:06 event to open your eyes so I wanted um I wanted to kind of follow up on last week um was talking with George, two lakes kind of joining together, helping him out with what he had going. And then also I got a bunch of emails from people this last week and I haven't replied to any of them yet. So just taking a take, you know, dealing, dealing with some things this week. So, but taking some time to address those here now. So I want to switch this over here and see if this is going to go yep so I'm going to transition this one over here and now
14:54 if you guys can see this here let's see I don't think that's going to help but okay so George was asking he has some questions and he was making some can of fuel which with three kilograms of fish and as he recalled he used the total of 3.5 kilograms of brown sugar which if you're using a little bit more sugar than fish that's probably it's safer than using more fish than sugar. So it's better to have more sugar than fish than the opposite way.
15:39 So adding an extra kilo, an extra pound of sugar in there seems totally fine to me. And he says over time, some white stuff appeared. I presumed it was from the exposed fish heads that stuck through, even though he used the extra half kilo of sugar as a cap to avoid something like this. And so I'm just going to tell you that as soon as you mix that fish in the sugar, the sugar cap is not going to stay there. It's not going to be like you're going to open it and that sugar cap is going to be intact. What will happen is as soon as the fish starts to break down and the
16:18 lactobacillus starts to activate and everything starts to juice out, that sugar cap will dissolve down into the fish. The sugar cap is primarily playing a role in the first 24 hours or so, and it's designed to kind of keep that thing sealed, give it a little bit of an anaerobic condition, because when you make it anaerobic, you cut all the oxygen off by placing that sugar on and kind of packing it down on top. And when you cut all that oxygen off, that's what helps to kickstart the lactobacillus to grow. And the lactobacillus is one of the main microbes
16:56 growing quickly in a batch of good FAA or a good batch of KNF fuel. So the sugar cap will dissolve and it will go down. And some of your fish will, in every case I've done, will grow some sort of of mold looking stuff. It's like microbes growing on there where you can see visually see with your eyes, a colony of microbes. And those are, um, so that's just, that's just natural. The sugar cap is going to melt and stuff's going to grow. And so then continuing with what he says, he says, I'm not sure if it is supposed to be like this. Well, to answer that it is, it is, it's unavoidable.
17:42 It's a great thing. It's typically benign in terms of it's not going to mess up your fish aminos that are there, your liquid, even that mixing. There's so much lactobacillus in there that those other microbes aren't going to be a problem. And he says, currently, I do not have IMO or the medicine to make this since I'm a beginner and spring is about to start. so to answer that you do not need IMOs or medicine or other people call it OHN you don't you don't need those things for fish aminos just sugar and fish that's all you need the other
18:26 things you don't you don't need if you add IMOs they eat your fats they eat your oils they kind of break down your product it's not as it's it's it can help with sometimes with the smell but it's not going to really benefit you in terms of your end product. And adding OHN is just going to help stimulate that little bit of the lactobacillus breaking it down, but it's not going to help you very much. So neither of those are necessary. And in fact, I don't even use them, so I don't recommend you use them. So continuing back to the question, you attach some photos to see what
19:06 happened. So I removed all the white stuff with the heads and remaining submerged with a metal mesh and a washed rock. Any advice on what I should do? Okay. So let's look at these photos a little bit. So this is picture number one. This is probably the white mold type of stuff growing on there. Don't worry about that. It's fine. You can just leave it. What's happening under the surface here is all of this fish aminos is starting to break down. And if you let it go for several months, you will come out with a really sweet smell. Yeah. Well, thanks. Thanks,
19:45 so for Lance. Yeah. Oh, it's always nice. So anyway, so this right here is totally fine to use. And this happens all the time. Like I said last week, and I should go up and do reaction videos to my fish aminos because you'd see that all of mine look like this right here. So let's go to the next photo here and just see because he included a few. And so you put this metal mesh over this and this stone. And this is, you know, it's fine to keep it submerged this way. If you really want to try to keep it below the brine, that's okay. But it's not necessary.
20:26 You don't need to do this and put the rock on top and to hold it down. I mean, if you look at this picture that he has here, though, you know, now all this juice is up and all the fish is underneath. And it probably will help keep the microbial growth from growing on top here. And so this is an okay solution, what he has here. And I think it's actually a decent thing. But however, you don't need to go through this effort and this exercise here. Although look at that spoon. It's a really nice spoon. It's similar to how they make spoons in Korea. So where is that? This is a nice spoon.
21:09 And okay, so those are the pictures he sent there. And then, oh, and then look, after the white rock, sure enough, that same stuff started to grow on the very surface. So it started to grow again. So even though submerging the stuff, it still didn't stop this thing from growing. And it's just because it's growing on that layer where there's air and fish. But what's happening below this is totally fine. So those are Soviet times, but it's cool. So you see what's happening here. If it grew on top, that's fine. It's just a boundary condition kind of thing.
21:51 and this white mold growing here is probably like bacillus simplus. Sometimes you get some other types of things that you can identify growing there, but those are, it's fine. So don't worry about it. You're good and everything's working out there. Okay. So question number one, fish aminos, the mold on top, don't worry about it. Just keep going. Let's get into question number two that he had here and he says I have pastures to recover as well as my friends will sow wheat peas and possibly cannabis about 10 hectares 24 acres wow I plan to try out also
22:36 Jadam JMS which is the disgustingly cheap microbes since it is a super low cost to try out absolutely. You have pretty much nothing to lose besides a few potatoes, which maybe made some Soviet vodka. I don't know. How would you recommend to rejuvenate the pastures and plowed fields using KNF? For a pasture, I have distributed almost decomposed manure. This is important since my neighbor is a conventional farmer with about 600 hectares of land. When I asked him if he has heard of microbial solutions and compost teas as fertilizers, he didn't know about it, but he would
23:23 be interested to see if it works and so to have a good reason to have success in these tryouts. so um the key with putting out the jadam microbe solution also known as the disgustingly cheap microbes if you ever watch young song cho he'll always talk about ja ja ja and he says that repeatedly and you can watch some of my videos on it and what he's talking about is he's talking about getting the microbes to penetrate into the soil. Once you make this concentrated microbial solution here and then you dilute it, then you pour it onto the soil, you want to dilute it so
24:11 that that thing penetrates as deep as possible. If you can get the Jadam microbe solution and dilute it 1 to 100, 1 to 500 even with fresh water, then you can dilute it and the water acts as a carrier. And what the water does is it takes all those microbes. And as you dilute it, it helps them drift further and further down into the soil. And ideally, I mean, it's a lot of water to soak your top foot of, of soil. And, and typically, you know, someone would be doing that, like, you know, when I was out in Montana, people would do that where they'd run their
24:51 irrigation to just soak in the very beginning before they plant and before they, you know, right when they're prepping their fields, they just soak the living crap out of them. And they literally do soak the top foot of soil. And so during that time when you're already putting this water out there is a great time to get the microbes out. If you don't have that kind of water, then it's best to do it when it's raining and you get that extra water to drive these guys down. So one of the keys to getting the Jadam microbe solution is to dilute it a whole
25:24 bunch and get that to go. What I would do in terms of treatment is do maybe two treatments before sowing your seeds one week apart. And I'm saying this because, you know, you want to get a move on to get things sewed and have time periods where that's happening. So, man, I don't know why you distract me, but you do. Like, my brain can't think when you're, like, around. No, no, it's okay. It's here right there. But anyway.
26:13 so anyway sorry i was just distracted here a little bit trying to keep my brain in one spot um i don't even remember i was talking about the microbe solution so um so yeah other than that that's the cheap way to go about it other than that going about it where you're doing the classic soil foundation recipe which you know a lot of this is in the book here of talking about what we need and what we're doing. Let me see if I can find it here. I don't have it. But it's the soil foundation recipe. So doing that, and I covered it kind of last week.
26:58 Put down microbes, put down the biochar and those things. So, yeah. And then in terms of being successful, I mean, just following the KNF regiment, man, you know, you, you build, you put the microbes out, you feed the microbes, these foods, which basically is a maintenance solution, which has food cleanser, medicine and structure. If you don't have all those, that doesn't matter. Use what you got and to on a weekly basis, put those out to to build your soil. Um, so hope, hope that's helpful. I know it's, um, it's, it's like, you know, it's, it's kind
27:48 of funny because natural farming is fairly basic in terms of you can get more advanced and do more things, but, um, it's the basics is the, is the basics. And if you got those microbes and these foods and these things working for you, really these systems should take off. I mean, it's, you're just following what nature does. Um, last bit of that question number two that he was asking he was talking about distributing the almost decomposed manure. That's a great time to also put out the IMOs and then to soak these things because that manure is going to act as a food
28:23 to help bioactivate all this stuff and bring it all to life. Manure has a bunch of nitrogen in it, which helps the microbes build DNA, which helps them thrive to immense populations. and that's why when you add nitrogen to a compost it heats up it's because you're enabling those microbes to reproduce and make love faster and so it's the whole thing you can put the manure out put it on your field put the microbes feed it get it all good what's up easton how you brother okay so before i get back to the chat here finish up this last and third question and then i'll
29:02 jump back into these questions here. So number three question here is, since I'm exploring ways to support the soil food web, is it safe to assume that Korean natural farming and Jadam are compatible regarding application of microbes? For example, disgustingly cheap microbes feeds the anaerobic organisms in a deeper level of soil by drenching a lot of microbes in the soil, and KNF serves as aerobic support for a top soil layer and foliar. This would be an alternative for small farmers like me and my friends to start out. And yes, absolutely, what you are doing with
29:47 Korean Natural Farming and Jadam is rebuilding your soil food web. And I want to jump to one of these videos I had here, this one. And this is, and I'll link this thing here. In fact, let me just see, I can't drop it in the chat right now, but I'll put it in the description. This video right here is Dan Kitterich, who is one of the, it's Dan Kitterich speaking at the Organic Cultivators Supernatural Conference 2022. And at this event, he was there with Wendy, who's a leading expert
30:41 in natural farming, and Chris. And they were talking about Korean natural farming. And Dan was there and he was like, you know, you need to get biology in your way. And he was talking about the KNF because he had been introduced to these concepts. And they are some of the quickest ways. You know, you can follow Elaine's method of making good compost, or you can go through Korean natural farming where you're intentionally growing the correct biology in this method that's indigenous to your region. And when you put that stuff out, that's exactly what you're doing.
31:11 You're building the soil food web. And so I highly recommend checking out this video here. It's three hours and 30 minutes. So definitely put it at like one and a half times or something speed it up a bit. But this is all about the whole reason for KNF to be successful is to rebuild your soil food web. That is what it is. So anyway, getting back to that. and then since someone mentioned it and it's worth it right now, check out my pig website. So if you haven't known this website right here, it's my-pigs.com
32:08 right here and when you go to it you can see um this here and then let's see if the chomp cam's on yeah so if i'm here and then since you guys are are here um the code is lucky pig right now although i will change the code and give you guys it you know each week so you guys can drop some papayas but i'm gonna drop a papaya right now and most likely she's asleep so it's not going to do much, but let's see if I do drop this. There's five loaded in there.
32:54 And it dropped and she didn't notice, but look, Chig's noticed. He's all about eating these papayas in the morning. Look at that. He's just like hammering those things, but the papaya dropped and it hit her in the butt and she didn't even notice, man. This is why I got to have the chomp cam and the reacts and all that because it's like, man, look at that guy. Oh, what a beautiful rooster, man. He's so nice. But anyway, the URL is my-pigs.com and you can drop these papayas through the internet and feed my pigs. So if a bunch of you guys do it all at once, there's a
33:37 minute delay actually in the software. So it doesn't drop all the papayas at once. It actually waits a minute. So if you trigger them all at once, the machine itself will time out for one minute before, you know, this arm slides back and forth and drops these papayas. And this week it's been jamming. So anyway, give you guys these things here. So let's transition back here and get back to some of these. Cool.
34:24 And yeah. So, I should have read these questions and got them queued up for myself to come in. But if you have any questions, let's see, I'm going to scroll up here in the chat and see. Got some questions. So, George is asking, how edible is this fish amino acid, the one that had the mold on it? um and you know i i my batches have um mold on top just like yours did and i'll when they smell sweet and they smell good and they're not um i'll i'll just eat that and i'll eat it um it's
35:15 primarily from my from the studies i've understood it's mostly lactobacillus and your nose knows you know if something smells okay it's probably okay to taste um i don't you know it's an own recommend, you know, I'm not going to recommend it to you because I don't want that, but, but I do it. Um, so if, if that's any, um, you know, I don't, um, just a tiny drop, you know, eat it, taste good. You know, it doesn't turn my stomach. In fact, I put it in, in my drinks and drink it just, um, by itself, even when it has, um, mold on tops. So, and Amadeus is saying he made the
35:55 can of fuel in his apartment, which, yeah, it really shouldn't smell at all, right? So it's easy. Yeah. Yep. Okay. Okay. So, okay. So Joe is asking here, he says, do you think that using potatoes blended in water as a carb with IMO2 and the other KNF inputs in wood chips will make a good IMO3. Grazon has been detected in most brands in my area. Grazon must be some sort of
36:41 pathogen I would imagine if you're saying that it's been detected in your area I would imagine. And I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I'm just going to assume that and saying so you're I do think that if you took a bunch of potatoes and blended them into a liquid slurry and mix that into wood chips with IMO, too, and you just follow the recipe as if you're using that would be a really good way to do this. It's the carbs, it's the carbon, and the potatoes have enough fats and oils and those things in there to supplement.
37:18 So I do think you would get decent results of growing out those microbes, especially since the wood chips and the potatoes, it'll really excite the fungal part of your IMO. And that's a good thing to do. so i would say that yeah i think you know finding out enough potatoes to your wood chips um i'm not exactly sure what that is but i would say um you know more is better than less of blending that up making a liquid slurry and then putting it in i would think it would work fairly well and yeah and then George is saying that soaking your new beds with both the Jadam and the KNF versions
38:04 yeah you're going to get enough microbes out there to do this and get them in there okay so coming down glad you guys here Okay, it says in an OHN video, he said that OHN can be used without tincturing it in alcohol. Is that true? I presume it's less able to move through the blood-brain barrier. And I think that's absolutely false. First off, to extract the herbs out of the material, you need alcohol. the stuff that comes out in the KNF medicine the OHN is drawn out by alcohol and I don't think
38:54 there's a way to extract it without alcohol and if that alcohol evaporates out that's when you get a slap from Master Cho and he says you're wrong and throw this out basically compost it because the alcohol is gone so if Chris is saying that you can do it without alcohol I don't think that's correct his videos are not the most correct videos out there it's good to get people started but it's you know and the one thing about natural farming is it's a target with a bullseye like this big and the target's like that big so if you're throwing something at your odds of hitting it
39:30 it's pretty forgiving so even if you're wrong it's it's it's okay um but when you're making the K&F medicine, there's so much time and money and effort and energy put into it that I think you would want to be right. And you absolutely cannot make that without alcohol. And yeah, so I don't think that's, that's correct. Oh, yeah, double papayas. Who got double papayas? You guys are feeding my pigs without me watching. Let's see here. Who? Yeah. Oh, no, nobody did here. You guys go ahead and feed the pigs, man. They're doing it. Okay.
40:18 So coming back here. Okay. So George is saying, I was showing a dozen people today how to make lactic acid bacteria, KNF reproduction, KNF structure. People were curious how this works. One lady even bought charred bones for me since she is living in a city. Good idea because burning the bones in the city would probably get you arrested. And that's awesome that you're showing people and teaching people these solutions are what's going to save people from the coming economic disaster that we are in for. And so if you're
41:08 curious how this works, all those things, I have tons and tons of videos. I'll go look them up, or we can discuss them later by themselves. So I'll try off. Okay, yeah, yeah. Okay, so if you're going to take some FAA, I was reading about it, the human health benefits. They're numerous. All those fats and oils, especially omega-3s, huge in our diet. okay yeah
41:53 okay so the goofman is saying the white stuff on the top might even be yeast and it probably is some sort of bacteria and yeast going together um living there yeah so i'm not sure what it is on top oh okay garzon is a is an herbicide okay and it stays around for for a long time or grazon garzon whatever it is so the thing that i was thinking was a pathogen was actually an herbicide and to me i'm not that worried about herbicides in the material that i'm using for fermentation so
42:41 if there was a lot of herbicide on the mill run, I'm certain there's a lot of herbicide on the sugar that I'm using. Um, and it doesn't seem to have much effect. It is in, it's in extremely small doses and sure it does have some effect. I'm not saying it doesn't, but what I'm saying is that by the time you get that many microbes in there, their whole reason, they, they just eat that herbicide. Um, you know, um, like when, um, when, for instance, like if you spray Roundup and then put IMOs down the, and some biochar, um, the, and I'm not saying to, to do this,
43:29 but, but if you do the, what happens is the IMOs start to break down the Roundup, which is actually like a bunch of organophosphate like it's it's phosphorus and stuff there's you know there's a bunch of chemicals in there but it breaks that down and actually turns it into nutrients and especially if you have the biochar there it helps the microbes survive that whole situation and to disassemble and to split out the the nutrients i mean they just look at a poison as a food source with enough microbes there. So when you're growing your IMO1 pile, if you do
44:10 use material that has herbicides in it, it may take it a day longer to heat up or something. But those microbes will eventually overpower that, eat those things up, break those down. There's still tons of nutrients to excite that microbial life, and they'll just break it down. Um, so I wouldn't, I, that's, that's the thing is like a lot of these things we look at it and we're like, um, there's these crazy chemicals that we've made for the world, but the key to solving it is to get good microbes out there. So whether that's getting lactic acid bacteria out there
44:44 or getting your IMOs out there, or even working with things like yeast and, um, you know, purple non-sulfur bacteria, all these things help to break down and to purify and to clean up the world from what would be a toxin, which is just a concentration of something that you don't want. So as soon as the microbes get in there, they break it apart, they spread it. If they have biochar, they'll stash it very safely, like in a storage container. And then when they need those nutrients, they'll go into the biochar and bring them out. So it's very much so this process
45:22 happening. So if you're saying it can ruin your garden for years, man, go about it and go and use the IMOs. I'm going to just show you this here where on this side, and the reason I talk about this is, so I'm going to transition to the screen here. So if you look at this picture here, this is this garden. I don't know if it'll, oh no, I won't zoom in. Okay. Sorry. So this garden here, this piece of land was completely toxified for years. It's in the middle of two streets or three
46:10 streets. It's an island in the middle of the street. And this thing was just dumped all kinds of Roundup and they just sprayed this thing and there was nothing living there. My friend came in, he dropped these wood chips and planted this banana before he called me up to help him out with doing some natural farming because they couldn't get things to grow here. And so what we did, I think there's a picture down here. Yeah. So we took some biochar, some fish, dried fish and some dolomite. Those three things, the biochar, the fish, and the dolomite,
46:52 and some IMOs. And here's a picture of the crew that we're doing it. One of these bags here was a 50-pound sack of IMO that we also put out here. And this field was completely dead. It didn't support anything, barely even moss. And we kind of dug up the soil, we amended it, we put these wood chips down, and then we planted it here. And let's see, I'll go back up to the top here. Because this one kind of shows this going from here, June 9, 2011. Here's August 10. uh or excuse i think this one or this is july 27th this is august 10th this is september 13th
47:42 and we also mulched on top we also put down this is a bunch of coconut husk thanks to thanks to capilla we put this down and that helps to also that carbon again carbon is a you know soaks up these plant toxins. And October 14th, and then here we are harvesting this like March 10th. And so out of this area that was completely like trashed with poison, we were able to completely clean it up. So, and it's the microbes that did that work. They broke it down. They did those things and made all that happen. And I'm sorry, Sam. I'm sorry. And hey, PostUp Media, I
48:24 I have an email from you that's in my box here that is, let's see here, I'm super stoked, I've read your email, I don't want to get back to it, let's get to your questions here, because what you guys are doing sounds amazing, I'm so happy you and your wife are getting into this, and I want to get into your question here, so anyway, PostUp Media is down in down in Panama, got his email up here and they're doing like really bringing their life or their land back to life here. So his question here is, you know, he's done his first extraction of the KNF medicine
49:15 and can he start using it right away? And the answer is yes. Yes. It's always, it's always rule zero. If you've listened to me over time, even in my book, it talks about rule zero, which is let nothing stop you from growing. And that is use that, that OHN don't use it all and don't mix it all, right? Keep them all in their individual containers, but take out what you need from each, like say, say you need to take out like, you know, a hundred mils from, from each of them and 200 mils from your Angelica. Mix all those and you end up with, you know, a 600 mil
49:54 batch to go do something and use it, you know, use it right away. But try to then mix in your later pours into those first batches. So don't use it all right away. But yeah, don't let it stop you from growing. Use it right away. It gets better over time. And as you get all those second things mixed in, and why do I say it gets better? That's kind of like a huge, like, big thing. But what happens is those particles micronize just like alcohols. As they sit in barrels, they start to pull flavor out of the barrels. You know, like a good whiskey pulls
50:27 that flavor out of the barrel. It's that same thing as those particles are sitting there, they're micronizing, they're, they're starting to get smaller, smoother, and easier. And that's why I say it gets better, right? The first one is good, but as those particles have time to break down and they age and they actually like a fine alcohol over time, they become more effective and can enter the cells easier and all those things. So go ahead, use your first batch, but wait for it. And okay. And then they're saying here that they're all set to begin IMO3 aside
51:05 from the OHN. And that's fine. If you omit the OHN, it's okay. You know, my first time when I was first getting into natural farming. I didn't have all that stuff. It still works. What you're getting with the OHN is you're getting that biology as a biostimulant, but also that medicine to keep any other pathogens out. But if you're also mixing in the KNF protectors, they will also help that. So there's multiple factors and redundant systems here happening. And the better you get, the better you get. It's like Gil would describe it as, you know, as a car, like Master
51:42 Cho is like the nicest, you know, like a Lamborghini or like, you know, the nicest car they make. And his methods is like a moped. And he's like, are you going to get there in a Lamborghini and a moped? And the answer is, yeah, you'll get there. And one is just better and more fun, depending on how you live. So the more you can get, the better you can do. And I would recommend, yeah, starting that first pile with that horse feed and enjoy and turn that thing. And man, if it's your first time turning IMOs, it's quite an experience. Definitely
52:18 recommend do a foot spa. Get in there, put your feet in there, get that relaxation. I'm going to go through all that effort. You may as well enjoy it. Okay. And then he's saying here, we also have a nursery and it seems things tend to develop better in bags. When we plant too early, the result is not as good, but this may be due to the soil. Okay. With KNF, is there anything different as far as nursery goes? The only difference is that your blend of potting soil could be up to like 10% IMO. And if you do that, then you're getting all those
53:00 microbes in there and that would be good. I mean, there's also the foliar sprays, for your seed soak solution. All those things apply. And he says, I know to seed soak solution everything and utilize IMO4, but some of the best practices here would be appreciated if it's much more than standard germination development and transplanting. So there is, let me give you one tip here. A lot of times I'll see people that are doing indoor grows or nursery plants that they will take their plant and not notice the orientation of it.
53:46 And if you take a plant and it's growing this way, say this side is facing north and it's growing, there's a whole magnetic field of how the sun passes over and how it orients itself magnetically with what's happening of how the plant grows. And if you're taking that plant in each day or often you're rotating it and you're rotating it and you're not paying attention to the orientation, you're not keeping the plant in its pot oriented the same way, that can be very stressful on a plant. If you think about it, a plant never goes out in the ground and then rotates.
54:20 It's something that never happens. So plants aren't thinking like they're not able to cope with that. So a mechanism to stress your plant is actually to rotate it. And so what Master Cho recommends is between right after you're done, before you go to transplant your plants, after you got them up to their juvenile stage and you're going to go transplant, what he says to do is to take the plant and to deny it water for a day, three days, depending on how your plant is. So stop watering it for three days. And at the same time, rotate it 90 degrees.
54:59 What that does is it really stresses your plant out. It freaks out. It's like, oh no, I've been rotated and I have no water. And then just before transplanting, take that plant, put it into the seed soak solution. And you can kind of bare root the plant in that seed soak solution, get all the soil off. While it's in that seed soak solution for about 15 minutes soaking, it'll pull all those nutrients into the plant. And then when you go to plant it, those roots will grow out and the mycelia that's out there will recognize those nutrients and it will plug into your roots.
55:35 So by stressing your plant out a little bit, you've got it so that then it really sucks up that water. And then when you transplant it, it feels this relief and it's like going to a new home. It's sort of like, if I think about it, It's like I've heard bear mama bears have to like chase their cubs out of the nest. You know, otherwise the cub just continues to live with the mom because life's easy. And so you kind of got to give it that like, you know, hard knock life and get it out into the real world and that little bit of stress with with the right resources and put it out
56:08 into the real world. And then it will do so much better in getting into the into the ground. So Master Cho is kind of, you know, it's all about that hard knocks life for the beginning. And then when you plant it, then to make it as easy for your plant as possible, once it's been transplanted by surrounding with IMOs, watering it, feeding it, everything, the whole, the whole deal. So, so, and then I'll get to the other questions here. and then he's asking we're curious why sugar is used to ferment. It seems
56:51 most ferments are with salt including most Korean ferments and so why are you using sugar? It's because the sugar is compatible with more of the biology we're after. For instance when you're making a can of food and you're fermenting that plant juice, you're working with yeasts, which the yeasts are more sensitive to salt. And so primarily when they're doing ferments for eating, you're using lactobacillus as you're digesting or as your microbe. And so the salt, the lactobacillus can handle a higher salinity, but yeasts and other bacterias can't.
57:38 and they'll go to sleep. So that's why sugar is used, because sugar has the same osmotic drawing pressure. It also acts as it gets liquid as a food source to help stimulate this biology you want growing. You can add a little bit of salt in there, about 10% or so, to increase that osmotic pressure and maybe reduce your sugar cost, but you don't want to do more than 10% salt because it will inhibit your other microorganisms that are growing and your fermentation that happens. So if that makes sense to you, that's why we use sugar instead of salt.
58:15 Um, and I will be getting everybody out the latest copy of the book that has bought the, um, soon, soon here. I, I've been dragging my feet on a few things and have a few things going. So everyone who's bought the other edition will be getting the March, um, 2022 edition coming to them hopefully in the next day or so here so I get some time to work on that okay and then last question here from post up he's asking our imo2 has a thin white mold forming on the top it is liquid for the most part the top layer is crystallized with sugar and mold or
58:55 something white is forming and typically that's oh that's okay that it grows on there like that similar to the fish amino acid if it's just superficial on the surface. And I've had some batches that do that. I have some batches that don't. Typically, what's happening to me when I'm getting stuff growing on the top is that I only have a small volume in my jar. So if my jar is this tall, I only have like a small volume of it. Let me switch back to the screen so you can see a small volume of liquid in there or of the IMOs and that's when it tends to mold much more
59:35 than when I have it filled like nearer to two-thirds so can't promise that's what's happening but usually it's it's no big deal with that stuff um living on there yeah stonemason is saying he's been spreading the IMO4 over the last two weeks and getting ready to make a new big pile enough to get in awesome man stoked that you can get that healing feature and what a better time than be spreading things than right now starting to get spring things are melting there's a lot of water still out on the land it's still moist mud and that's a great time to put these imos
1:00:16 and then George is saying he bakes some buns from his own wheat and after milling I sifted some of the material and realized I can use this to make IMOs and that's exactly what that is that is the mill run so when you're baking the bread and you're making those buns that is the stuff so if you already have that that's exactly what you're trying to grow your microbes in. In Korea, they use rice holes, but wheat holes, anything you're growing with that kind of, yeah, it has all the food and everything you need. So everything
1:00:55 kind of ties into itself. And so Sam is asking, as an IMO3 substrate, could I use coco coir fiber as carbon and pulverized green bananas and spent coffee grounds for the carbs and proteins. I would, Sam, and the one thing else I would blend into that is a little bit of like fat. So if you could get some sort of like nuts or something like something cheap, that's going to bring a little bit, just a tiny bit of fats into that. But everything, the coco coir fiber is kind of hard to break down, but it should go with enough moisture and those microbes should
1:01:46 thrive in there. And the thing with the IMOs, you're not trying to break down the material, you're trying to grow up the microbes. So think of, instead of thinking like, you got to think like, what can I create that the microbes will eat and digest and turn into microbial bodies? like that's the that's the thinking on on the materials but i think all those things sound pretty good um i would add in something that has a little more protein and fats though into there um okay and then stonemason is saying when he puts the imo3 into the dirt which is mostly clay to make
1:02:27 IMO4, it turns the clay into these tiny balls and structures and it's crazy looking. And that's exactly what it is. It's those microbes that are in your IMO3 that are coming to roll the clay up and so that they can make it bioavailable. When they roll it, they make more surface area and then they can, and subsequently that makes more airspace in your soil. So what's happening is exactly what's supposed to happen. And yeah, it's kind of wild. Let me link that here real quick and just get you the Dan Kitterich. I'll just drop this in here.
1:03:14 Okay, so I just dropped the Dan Kitterich link in the chat here. Okay. yeah and stonemasons talking to george here saying that they had the you know the liquid fertilizers and amazing results and it's it's true man i mean i can i can stand be here through the internet and tell you these things but it's it's just the proof i mean and he's up in indiana so it's like like it works there it's probably going to work you know anywhere in the world so this is this is how um how we do on this so it's not just me talking about this it's everything
1:04:01 and and getting good green beans and all these things strawberries oh man it's it's amazing to hear you guys do this sometimes i talk with suz and i'm like you know what am i doing with my life and it's like well here i'm helping people grow and helping this farm and you know trying to get these secrets out. When I was given these secrets in 2008, I was just like, whoa, this was what I was looking for. It changed my life, and I'm glad to give it to you, and then you guys go teach and show the results and share with each other, and this is what I'm doing with my life. I'm helping
1:04:35 people out on the internet through the virtual mycelium. Let's see here. Amadeus is saying, is potato starch the best carb for the disgustingly cheap microbes? Can I make it with brown rice pasta or water and water I use to wash beans? Should I put OHN in the wild bird water with the flu going around? Okay, wow. Wow, those are two good questions, but potatoes are one of the better starches to grow the Jadam microbe solution in. The disgustingly cheap microbes, they just grow really well in the potatoes. But any starch water will work.
1:05:22 And so I've made it with tortillas. I've made it with bread. Often right now I'm making it with flour that I had that went a little bad. That's what we've been using lately. And it grows microbes just fine and they do their thing any carb source they'll eat they'll do and then to answer the question about putting ohn in the wild bird water with all the bird flu going around oh man yes a little bit of ohn also some lactic acid bacterias would be really good in there typically what happens is the bird flu is a respiratory disease and typically why birds get
1:06:01 bird flu and die in masses is because all those birds are confined and there's no airflow and they already have respiratory problems already because they're just breathing their own crap and they're kept in these barns that don't you know go and that's just a and they're living in their own crap and that's just a recipe for disease all those things no ventilation living in your crap no sunlight all these things are exactly why bird flu is out there so number one make sure your birds have plenty of airflow to make sure they're getting microbes in their food and three
1:06:40 don't worry about it too much there's there's never been a korean natural farming thing operation that has gotten bird flu and um i've had my my birds get chicken pox or or fowl pox is what they call it but other than that i haven't had them get any other disease really so i just you know if you're doing natural farming but if you're going to feed wild birds yeah absolutely stimulate them with those solutions and make the whole world a better place um and yeah you guys are on it yeah thank you for everything being helpful
1:07:22 I love seeing you guys growing out there. And I love watching you guys have this conversation in the chat. It's great to see all these different inspiring ideas, inspiring each other to, you know, see what works in your regions, what's going. It's great. And yeah, so Stonemason is saying he's gonna do dandelions. What a good idea. They pop up, they're everywhere. I go with the dandelions when I was up in Washington. And I took like a little fork that had a thing at the end, and I just would grab the dandelion right at the root and cut it
1:08:03 and take the whole top. And so the whole dandelion just, you know, because people don't like them in their yards anyway, just sitting there and just in a few minutes, I was able to pop out, you know, a couple hundred plants and put those all with sugar and ferment them. And dandelion made an amazing ferment. It's so powerful. They're so vigorous. They grow so fast in spring and it's a really good choice. So yeah. So yeah. And everyone's saying dandelions are a great base fermented plant juice and they really are. It's the KNF food that has so much vitality
1:08:37 and drinking that and getting that all together. And so with those, when they're popping out, I just take that whole little plant because it's basically all, you know, it's just shooting at early spring and I'm not trying to grab just the tips of the leaves or anything. I just take that whole thing and just kind of, you know, it was a little tool, like a little, had a little fork at the tip and it would just pop them out and it worked really well for me. Yeah. So, and you pick them at the flower bud stage, any, any stage,
1:09:11 I mean, you can grab them all at those different times and you'll get those different enzymes and things coming out. So, um, yeah, well, okay. Yeah. And you do, you do them all separate. That's, that's great. All those things, you know, um, has all those enzymes in there and everything you need. So, um, well, with that guys, I, um, it's 10 o'clock here in Hawaii and it's Easter and I'm going to go, uh, hang out with my family a little bit, do some, do some things on the farm and, uh, enjoy a beautiful day in prayer.
1:09:59 And, um, yeah, I'm just happy that, um, you guys are here, that it's spreading, that it's going out beyond me, that we're making it happen. And I got, I got one last, uh, kind of, kind of funny thing that I wanted to share with you guys just before I take off here. Um, just because I thought it was funny the other day that, um, I made, I made the, the, my pig reaction video. So, um, but, um, I just, I just wanted to show you how funny this is because this was out of all my videos that I've published recently. This pig react video that I made that was kind of like a
1:10:44 different format and a different thing. And just, I was just kind of having fun with it just to see and put the word out. It's been one of the worst performing videos ever. And in fact, it lost me two subscribers. So if you enjoyed that video, definitely smash that thing with a thumbs up, share it around because maybe some other people will enjoy it and maybe they'll come and subscribe to my crazy channel and see all these funny things, but enjoy. But yeah, I just wanted to show you, you know, and made 61 cents off that video. So kind of interesting, really.
1:11:18 But hope you guys enjoyed. Have a great week. I'll see you guys in the future. And as always, long live the natural farmer. Thank you. Aloha.
