Biochar Retort Build, Food Canoe Raised Beds, Charging Char
Drake opens with the I Ching hexagram on family and clan, then catches up with the Pure KNF chat community before diving into two builds: a homemade biochar retort and the food canoe raised-bed project.
He built his own 30-gallon inner drum from a cut-down larger drum, nested it inside a 55-gallon outer drum, and packs it with wood. The outer wood burns to char the inner load, venting pyrolysis gas through a chimney — a retort method he learned years ago and finally built this week. He points viewers to his interview with biochar expert Josiah Hunt and explains that char needs a second burn, a hot compost cycle around 120°F, to fully charge it with microbes and fungi.
The food canoe project gets a full walkthrough: two-by-four frames wrapped in iron roofing, about $200 to build and fill with soil, growing potatoes, kale, basil, beets, onions, tomatoes, and daikon over an eight-week timelapse. Drake compares raised beds to native-soil planting — better microbial interaction in the ground, but easier weeding and urban-friendly at raised height.
Questions from chat cover charging biochar for specific crops with nitrogen, using the lemon ferment diluted on non-citrus plants, daikon fermentation, mint's low-light tolerance as a border plant, and loading char straight into a thermophilic compost pile to inoculate it. The stream cuts out around the 38-minute mark before the Master Cho segment.
Questions answered
- 10:31 How do you build a DIY biochar retort from oil drums? — Drake welded a 30-gallon drum to nest inside a 55-gallon drum, packed the inner one with wood, and burned the outer wood to char it, venting through a chimney.
- 17:58 What is the food canoe project and what does it cost? — It's a raised bed made from two-by-fours and iron roofing, roughly $200 to build and fill, growing potatoes, kale, basil, and tomatoes.
- 24:30 Is there a best way to load biochar up with microbes? — Yes — soak it in nutrients like fish amino acid or plant juice, or inoculate it in a compost pile.
- 26:41 Why does biochar need to be burned more than once? — You burn the wood to get charcoal, then let it go through a hot compost burn around 120°F so microbes and fungi charge the char.
- 29:31 Can biochar be loaded for specific crops? — Yes, you can charge it with nitrogen or other nutrients targeted to the crop you're growing.
- 30:52 Is it better to plant in raised beds or straight into native soil? — Native soil gives more microbial interaction, but raised beds are easier on your back, keep out weeds, and work in urban spots.
- 33:11 How do you prepare daikon? — Drake isn't a fan of raw daikon but likes it pickled or fermented, especially with jalapeño.
- 33:11 Does mint need strong grow lights indoors? — No — mint grows like a weed even in low light and makes a great ground cover or border plant with lemongrass and comfrey.
- 35:26 Can the lemon plant-juice ferment be used on any plant? — Yes, just dilute it more; it's best on citrus, and the citric acid can burn other plants if too strong.
- 36:41 Does loading char into a late thermophilic compost pile work? — Yes — soak the char in water and nutrients first, then add it to the pile so microbes climb in and charge it up.

1:00 Go through some questions, answer folks' questions, and then we got a chance to hang out with Master Cho. And we're almost done with the animal seminar. Wrapping up Gok Song County, Mr. Lee's Farm, doing all that. So welcome. Thanks for being here. Thanks for being part of the community. Got some good folks here already. Thanks for tuning in. But before we get too far into it, let's start with a little bit of higher wisdom. And today is the family or the clan. So a healthy family, a healthy country, a healthy world, all grow outward from a single superior person.
1:51 The hexagram Chia Jin concerns the proper foundation of human communities. The I Ching teaches us that all clans must have a superior person at their center if they are to prosper and succeed. Therefore, in order to improve our family, company, nation, or world community, we must begin by improving ourselves. If you will observe healthy families, you will always see present in them three qualities. Love, faithfulness, and correctness.
2:42 When we truly love others, we are naturally kind, gentle, and patient with them. When we are faithful to others, we place proper principles and conduct above temporary influences like anger, desire, or greed. And when we practice correctness, we spiritually nourish ourselves and those around us. When all three qualities are cultivated, the healthy clan naturally springs into being. The difference between paying lip service to these ideals and practicing them is profound.
3:32 If you advocate high ideals and actions to others, but you do not embody them in yourself, your influence will disintegrate for lack of proper foundation. Therefore, in order to inspire superior qualities in others, you must first instill them in yourself. Concentrate not on influencing others or external events, but upon strengthening your inner devotion to proper principles. Concentrate not on influencing others, you must also be able to make a difference. When modesty, acceptance, equanimity, and gentleness become deeply ingrained in your character,
4:19 they will flow steadily outward from you, and soon you will find yourself enmeshed in a web of healthy relationships, and in this, there is great good fortune. Concentrate not on influencing others, and then you will find yourself in your character. You will find yourself in your character. You will find yourself in your character. You will find yourself in your character. You will find yourself in your character. You will find yourself in your character. You will find yourself in your character. Yeah, they're finally getting wet. It's rainy as heck here, man.
5:52 Rainy. It just... Makahiki finally came about. And they accidentally went to the Makahiki Festival. I say accidentally because... Hey, hey, hey. We got Super Chats. Yay! Yay! Good morning! I was thinking about going there and bringing... Um... Bringing some breadfruit. And hanging out. And then... I, uh... Forgot about it. And then I was going to get my pig food. My usual Thursday. Go pick up the pig food day. And, uh... Saw it. So I'm setting up for it. And I was like, ah, I should probably stop by. And then... On my way back, I was like, nah. And I got gas.
6:37 And while I was getting gas at the gas station. They, uh... They ran by. So I jumped out with my dogs. Ran the last little bit into Hilo. Ran about... I don't know. 300 yards. 400 yards. Not very far. But it's a relay race. So... Got to do that last little leg running with them back. Ate some good food. It's amazing. Um... Building family. Gathering around the right things. You know? Um... Regenerating the earth. Remembering... Um... You know, what, uh... What this is all about. Did I just kill the stone? No. There. Okay. Um... You know, so... Good people. I haven't seen in a long time.
7:20 Building the family. Building the clan. You know, when you do good things. Then you show up to places. People still remember you. Even if you haven't been out for... Five years. So that's pretty cool. That is pretty cool. What else we got here? Printer Bear, Michigan. Michigan in the house. What's up, Printer Bear? It's been good. Uh... Printer Bear and I have been chatting. Chatting in the chat. So if you're not a member of Pure KNF. You... May not know that there is a chat. So... If you go to pureknf.org... Well, let's just pull that up. Because this is... You know... Pureknf.org...
7:54 And let's go like this. And do this. If you pull up pureknf.org... The sponsor of today's episode... Um... Then you can go... If you're logged in... You can sign in here. Sign in. Get the Master Cho doing his thing. Log into this. And, um... My internet's slow. Either that or the website's slow. One of the two. It's right here. You can connect... Connect in real time. Get in the chat. And, um... It's been fun. I mean... I think, um... Bird is in there too. We've been hanging out. All good members. And, uh... You know... Good stuff happening in the chat here. So, um...
8:39 You know... People harvesting beans. Talking about the organization coming up. Good memes for you. Anyone... You know... Anyone got any plant secondary metabolites? Yeah. Thomas in the house. What's up? So, um... Encourage you to, uh... Join... Join the, uh... Pure KNF Foundation. Get in the chat. Have fun. With me and Printer Bear and Thomas and... Bird. And, um... All the good folks. On a daily basis. Um... Because... Once a week. I have an office hour. Probably just not enough KNF. Anyway. Um... So... Who else? What do we got here? Er... Er... Er...
9:24 Erliffy. Erliffy. Erliffy. You're new. What's up? Get the like button on your way in. Yeah. Push it twice. Um... And... And... Marty Raspberry. What's up? I guess maybe... Have I seen you for a while? I don't know. I feel like I haven't seen you for a while. But maybe I have. I don't know. Um... And... Oh... Kule in the house. What's up? Aloha kakuyaka. All good morning in Hawaiian. Hawaiian. I thought... I thought how you say good morning in Hawaii is... Sup you fuckers. Ha ha ha. Oh... Maybe it's cause I'm from Puna. Um... Yeah. So...
10:09 Good things happening. Um... Um... Makahiki's here. Rain. Restore the earth. Um... Canadian flag is messed up. Yeah. We don't believe in the Canadian flag here on YouTube. Um... I mean the 51st state. It's a good... It's a good flag. Just made some LAB. Hop... Need to hop up the worm bins. And... Uh... All the residue broken down for next year. Yeah. Cool. Yeah. It is turning winter in America I guess. So... Making lawn char. Awesome. Oh... So that's actually the other thing I did. So... I've been for the longest time looking around for a 30 gallon drum.
10:53 Because what I want to do is do a fermentation. And... Um... I couldn't find a 30 gallon drum. Anywhere. So what I did was... I built one. So you see that little drum on the um... Left side I guess? It's your left. I don't know. The smaller bin. Drum. And I... So I took a bigger drum. And I beat it. I beat it. I cut it with a wire. Uh... Not a... Cut off wheel. I don't know. Cut it. And then cut the top. Cut the bottom. And then I took a strap. And I made it smaller. And I beat it with a hammer. So it came smaller. And then I took the excess piece. Cut it off.
11:37 And then made the roof out of that. And then welded it all together. So now I have a 30 gallon drum. To fit inside my 55 gallon drum. And I'm going to pack wood. Into the 50... The 30 gallon drum. Put a bunch of wood in there. And put it upside down. In the bigger barrel. You know. Like... So imagine the smaller barrel. Inside the bigger barrel. That... With all the... Wood in here. With the lid. You know. This one's... The lid's sealed up here. Put that drum inside. Packed with wood. And then put wood on the outside. Of this. And on the top. And then cut... I still got to cut small air holes.
12:11 In the bottom of the 55 gallon drum. And I'm going to light the outer wood on fire. And then put a lid on the top of the 55 gallon drum. With a smoke stack coming up. The chimney. And that will then char the inside of my wood. So... About to make... Free raspberry. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. We got some super chats. But that is going to make biochar. Biochar. And I think... Is it worth... I think New England biochar. New England biochar. Let me just see what... Because what I wanted to see... I think this was the... Let's see images here. So let's see here. So images...
12:50 Basically I'm trying to create... One of these like retort type of things. Look at this nice mobile biochar maker. Um... Wow. These guys have really scaled up since... Since I've seen it. But something... I don't know. What is this? Retorts for biochar? I don't know. Biochar 101. Let's see. Is this... What's gonna happen if we... Your guide to biochar? But anyway... Is just insane. So um... That's a good idea. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
13:25 I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. So um... That's that's what I'm doing. Oh here. Why is it good? It's not good for the environment. Oh. Um... Contiki. Oh oh. Here's here's yeah. They're making a big big one. Yeah. That is this this. I don't know. Anyway. Updraft T-LUD. Oh here. Yeah. This is what I'm doing. A retort right here. Right here. Retort. Cause I'm retorted. Um... Basically the the the inner drum is where I'm making the biochar.
14:10 So all this wood stacked in the inner drum. And the outer drum is the fuel to get it hot. And yeah this thing it lets the gases out from the inner drum on the bottom. The pyro gas. And then the secondary air and then it goes up the exhaust gas. So with the lid. Very nice picture. Better than that's about the quality of what I could do. But this is what I made. I made a retorted way to do it. Um... And... Oil drums in 30 gallon size. I don't know. So I just made my own drum. I do own a welder. I mean... That's one of the questions you ask people if they're like, Oh I'm a farmer.
14:48 It's like what kind of welder do you have? You know? Um... Cause if you don't have a welder you're probably just a gardener. Um... Yeah it's gonna ring like a bell. Yeah. The retorted method. Um... Yeah um... This guy... Let's see. If we do this and then we mute it. Oh no. It's gonna... Is it gonna copyright strike? Yeah. So here. That's what they're doing. They're... They pack the inner barrel. Why is my mouth so jumpy? So he talks a little bit. Yeah. Oh oh there. There. So he's putting the inner... Oh yeah. Is he? Okay.
15:33 So he's packing the small drum. Yeah. He's packing the small drum. This is what I'm gonna do. Pack the small drum. And then... Does he... He puts the other drum inside the other drum? That's good boys. Yeah. So he puts that drum inside. This is... Oh this is exactly what I built. Right? And then... It looks like that's a 55 gallon drum. I mean where do you get this 85 gallon drum from? This 100 gallon drum. I don't know. And then he's gonna pack the outside. And this is what I'm gonna do. Pack all that. Pack it in there. And it's mostly twigs and branches on the outside.
16:01 And that's what I'm gonna do. And then... Look at that little twigs. Oh pack it. Come on boys. Pack it. Um... And then he lights it on fire. Yeah. Fire. Fire. Um... And then... Yeah. Then he puts a chimney up on there. That's what I'm gonna do. Oh my... I didn't buy as big as a chimney as him. Maybe I should have got a bigger chimney. I only went with like a 3 inch chimney. Maybe I should have gone with a 5 inch or... What is this? 8... That's like 8 inches at least. This guy goes big. You can tell. Look at his shirt. Um... But this... I watched this video years and years and years ago.
16:38 And this is the one I did. There's probably better methods. I don't know. If you... If anyone makes biochar. Look at that stuff coming out. Look at that. Nice. Oh he composted it. Smart. He's inoculating with microbes. Um... So yeah. And then he's extinguishing it. Putting it out. Look at that. Nice biochar. Compost that up. Yeah. So if you're retorted like me and Peter Hirsch. Um... Do the retort method. So... Anyway. I'm looking forward to that. I just built that this last week. Got that done. So... Trying to... Trying to set the exit. So... Anyone else got experience with biochar?
17:19 I'm sure you do. Um... Food, fuel, community... Yep. Yes. Yes. Um... Yeah. The other thing... The other thing I was going to talk about just quick is... I know... I know this last, uh... Week or so... You know... People were worried about food and, um... Let's see... You know... In getting cut off from food. Um... So... One thing that we've been talking about is that in this... If you go to pureknf.org and you go up to projects... This food canoe project, by the way... Is, um... A great way to get some food security. Like, look... Um... Let me just pause this right here. Look at this.
18:02 These are these raised beds. And I realize you do have to have some skill. And saw to cut like the frame for this. But it's basically made out of two by fours and a piece of iron roofing. Um... And you just fold that stuff inside of these H's that you cut. Embrace them. And... This you can grow an amazing amount of food. Let's just go back to this photo. Because look at this. This is like... And it's not... It's not like I'm just saying, oh... Like, you know, like... Just eat lettuce or whatever. Like you... I'm growing potatoes in mine. Um... Cilantro. Trying to grow jalapenos. Um... But...
18:46 This is a project that we put out there of... Kale? Basil? Uh... Beets? Something going to seed here. Onions. And this is a new one being sprouted with lettuces. And it's so... You know... So anyway, the food security. This is something that we were talking about this last week. Of like... Helping more people get food secure. And you can download the full guide right here. You know, it's a PDF. You can download it. So if you don't know how to make it at home... You know what I mean? Look at this. Imagine... If you just have a small area. Uh... Like... Even if you're in an apartment or whatever.
19:25 Beans. Uh... Lettuce. You know... All these things. Really easily. Even in an apartment. You can put this right... You know... Like right on the balcony. Whatever. Tiny area. Little bit of soil into this. And you... Tomatoes. I mean... You can be cracking. And then... All that put... You know... Grow kalo. We've done kalo. Sweet potatoes. All those things. You know... So the story... Here's us building these things. You know... These little frames. Came over. Veterans. So if you don't have somebody... Call a veteran up. They probably got enough skills to do this. We painted them all.
20:01 So they stayed... And then we built a bunch of them. We built ten of them in one day. Um... Building these things. And just real easy on the chop saw. Just making it... Just slamming them out with a template. And... Building the frames. Putting them together. And... Yeah. So... The design of it. You know... It's four feet by about two feet. And you just bend the pipe... Or the... The roof in there. Screw it down a few times. Here's like a material list. The things you need to make one. And then here's how to load the thing up. Right? And I just... For this example... I just used...
20:37 Dirt you could get at Home Depot. Soil. Like it's organic garden soil. It's not... It's not really the best. But... It's a good starting point. There where you can just buy it. So... You can just... You know... At home... I think for about 200 bucks or something. You can have one of these. Um... Just the soil cost money. Plus the framing and the roof itself. But about 200 bucks. Then you could have... And then whatever your seed cost is very... Probably minimal. And then you could have... You know... I bet you could probably grow $200 worth of food. Your first time you filled this up with food.
21:11 Um... I just... You know... Food is getting pricey. Although... It... Really it's not that pricey. I mean if you grow it... You'd want more. But this shows how to inoculate it with microbes. How to put mulch. How to put the right... Get the soil started. All that. Uh... And then we talk about... Um... Sprouting seeds. And how to soak your seeds with natural farming. How to put those things in. So the whole idea was just to go over a tutorial of... Of... Going. And this is... This is my food canoe. Started here. Um... With just the mulching, inoculation. And we got a few things sprouting.
21:49 And these are weekly photos. Um... Let me put this like that. These are weekly photos. So... Week 1. Week 2. Week 3. Week 4. Um... Week 5. Look at that. By 5 weeks. And a half. Into this. I'm already getting... Um... You know... Basil sprouting. Lettuces. Cilantro. Tomato. The tomato just went nuts. Look at that thing. Um... And... Uh... 6. 7. My week 8. Look at that. The basil. I mean... This is 2 months of growth. And... You know... And then the tomato. And then also... The lettuce is just sprouting. And my daikon is doing well. But look at that basil. Look at how lush that is.
22:34 And the daikon. You know... You can pickle that. I don't really like raw daikon. I mean... Some people might. But... Um... And then we harvest it out of here. And then... I just let some lettuce go to seed. So then I had perpetual... Seed growing. So... You know... And then here's the other folks that did it. You know... Some people grew onions. Um... What was that? Like weird charred things. I think it's a daikon. These guys did lettuce. And this was just like on the side of a house. You know... Like right there. You didn't need any special spot. Um... And... Um... Yeah.
23:10 So everybody kind of participated together. Uh... These... These... These need a little bit more food. These strung out tomatoes. They... They need a... Need a little bit more and or just thin them and just leave one. You know... Why do you need five tomato plants? Anyway... So... Um... I'm just encouraging people. If you are food insecure. Making small... Like... You know... Instead of wanting someone else to do it for you. Or... You know... Um... Taking charge and doing it yourself. Getting that... That's true security. When you... Are able to do it yourself. And... And feel empowered.
23:44 Now you... You're moving toward... Uh... Security. Encouraging that. Um... That is a free resource. Again... Pureknf.org. If you... You know... If you... Uh... Let's... Let's... Switch this back here. Yeah. So if you go... You know... In this... And just encouraging everybody. If you don't have one of these... You probably should. But yeah... Again... Pureknf.org. Under projects. The food canoe project. Right there. Um... Something we did. Just to inspire. And um... Thanks. Super chat to you guys. So um... Good thing to do for the Makahiki. Um... Hello. Hey George. George is in the house.
24:26 What's up Latvia? What's up bro? Um... And then I've been talking with Pedro. Getting a course together late January. I gotta talk to you George about that. Cause I know you wanted to be there. And... I gotta just... Just do it. And kinda dragging my feet on it. Cause I'm like... Do I wanna do it? I do. But I don't. And so I got to. Um... Sometimes you just gotta force yourself to do good things. Um... Some bones charn it too. Yeah. While you're making biochar. Throw bones in there. Bone char as well. Um... Let's see. Um... Yeah. Is there a best way to load biochar up with microbes?
25:12 Yes. Um... Yes. In fact, thanks for asking that question. And if... Um... So let me just... Uh... Pull this up here. Where we go to... Um... YouTube. You know, one sec. I'm just doing some stuff on the other screen. And we'll go to my channel here. Do my channel. And, um... So... I... Interviewed one of the world's best biochar experts. So if you search here... This is my channel. You can get to it by clicking on the little heart thing down below. Um... You know, maybe after the episode's over. Um... But click on this little search thing right here. And search for biochar. Biochar. And...
25:54 Here... Here's a biochar playlist. So this has most of the things in here. Um... Let's just... Um... But... This guy here. Josiah Hunt. I know this isn't the world's best recording. There's a dog in the way. Okay. But... Listening to Josiah Chart talk about this. And this biocharged one here. Only 3000 views. It's 8 years old. I know it's not the world's best video. Why did my mouse all jump? Um... But this here. So, um... Listening to Josiah talk. These are the monthly meetings. Which by the way, I'm doing the monthly meetings again. It's Tuesday. Second Tuesday. Second... Second Tuesday.
26:38 Second Tuesday. Second Tuesday at Komohana. The same building right where we're doing this. I'm gonna be doing this again. I'm gonna be doing this again. And so, we're dropping knowledge like Josiah and all these experts coming through and talking about these things. Um... But the... The term biochar, the charged, it's, you know, used or found in the soil. He charged it up by putting it in compost piles. But when he did... Let me show you right here. Look at all the fungal things tying into the biochar. And these fungus is coming in and doing it. So, what he...
27:11 What he would tell you, and look again, you know, is that biochar needs to burn three times. Wait, is this right? Three times? I don't know. Okay, maybe I'm... Maybe I'm not doing it right. But you need to burn it after you've made it. Okay, so... You burn the wood at off gases. You get the charcoal. You then put the charcoal into a compost pile. And then that next 120 degree burn of the biochar and everything reacting, that then inoculates the biochar. So, one good way is to soak it in... Just soak it in the nutrients. Or the other way is to... Just to listen to what he has to say.
27:53 What is this? This is only 20 minutes long. It's worth listening to. So, I'll just take this. Copy this. Put it into the chat. Right here. Am I not in the chat? Okay. And there. Then you can watch Josiah talk about it. Because he's like the man when it comes to biochar. Oh my gosh. Recursive now. So, let's go here. Which... Where was I? Oh, sorry here. Okay. Watching the stream come back on itself. Okay. So, yeah. Good biochar there. But yeah. Just taking it and soaking it in like fish amino acids and plant juices and like soaking
28:39 it in a maintenance solution. Um... Or a leaf solution. Would be a great thing to do. And or throw compost in there. And or just put it in your IMO pile. And then, you know, mix it with your IMOs. They'll all go in there and moisten it a little bit. Spray it with a little bit of maintenance solution and then put a bunch of IMOs on it. It'll just get inoculated like wild. Um... So, I'm looking forward to that. Um... Yeah, okay. Wood... Is this wood gas to fuel the fire? Controls the burn. Yep. Yep, yep, yep, yep. Hey, goofmans in the house. What's up, goof?
29:24 Um, good to see you, brethren. Glad you're here. Uh, changed your name. So odd. Yeah, who knows. Maybe you get the real ID, bro. It's coming for you. Um... Biochar can be loaded for specific crops and stuff with nitrogen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, you can actually load it specific to a crop. So, you know... Oh, speaking of, man, I just made a bunch of, um... Lemon plant juice. I tried to go live the other day on YouTube and then it cut me off after like two minutes. It was like a 20 minute video. I don't know why. Maybe my Wi-Fi wasn't good. I can tell you one thing. Don't get visible mobile.
29:59 I have visible. It's like this Verizon knockoff. It sucks. It sucks. Uh, T-Mobile, way the hell better. Um... Trying to save a dollar a month and I got this crap service provider. I think I'm gonna cancel it. Um... Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Okay. Okay, so lots of people have experience with this. Copy Josiah. Yeah. Herb Kruger. Oh, Herb Kruger. I haven't seen him in years, bro. Herb is awesome. Um... 10 to 15%. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Um... Would it be better to plant in those raised beds inside the greenhouse or just going into
30:44 native soil? Um... So you're talking about the food tacos or food canoes, food tacos, whatever you want to call them. Um... Would it be better to go into native soil? Uh... One of the benefits of doing this is it's basically we're making soil up at this height. And one of the benefits is I don't have to worry about weeds coming in from the side. And to weed this thing, it's right at this level. So for other things, yeah, sure. Like this is... It's great to just plant in the soil. But then you gotta, you know, you gotta make some kind of barrier to keep the grass from growing.
31:17 All kinds of things. You have all kinds of trouble. Whereas when you're up at this height, it's so easy to weed because you're weeding at like this height. You don't have to bend down. You don't have to like anything. So there are pros and cons to everything. And loading these things up and making sure they have good microbes, good mulch, growing at this height has a lot of benefits. So would it be better to do it into the soil? Yeah. You're gonna get more microbial interaction. You're gonna have better things. Um, but you know, is it worth it for your back?
31:47 You know, like there's a lot of things. So, so having this up, plus you can do this in like urban settings where people are like, you can't garden here. It's like, but you can put one of these raised beds in. I'm pretty sure no one would have a problem with this. You know, it's off the ground. It's not, it's not causing problems. You know, it's like it's removable real easily. Um, you're not create, you know, you can keep it nice and orderly where a lot of people care about having, you know, if you're growing something and there's grass growing or there's
32:12 weeds growing and even though they're cover crops, people like have aesthetic reasons and a food, food canoe makes it really easy to keep it aesthetically pleasing to people that have no idea how to do this kind of stuff. So there's lots of benefits to doing this, but if you did it in native soil, it'd be good too. Um, yeah. And, and goof said, Oh, still need to build it up. Get tired of bending over to plant and harvest. Yeah. The bending over, it kills you, right? Like you just come in at that level and just do it. What's up, Sadu? We got, uh, we got Africans in the house. African.
32:47 We're just talking about, um, I don't know. Anyway, I was talking about other stuff. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And Rose. What's up, Dre? Got him in the house. Brody. Brody. Hey, thanks. Yeah. Thanks for super chats. I'll use. Yeah. D coin. D coin. D coin. D coin. D coin. D coin. D coin. Jalapeno. So I like it. Yeah. D coin. If you're going to make daikon, ferment it, you know, um, pickled daikon. I don't know. I'm not, I'm not a huge fan of just straight up daikon, but with the jalapenos and all those things, I can see how you can make it good. Um, yeah, yeah.
33:34 Um, does mint need powerful grow lighting inside? No. Mint is like a weed. Once you get mint going, it just goes wild. Yeah. It does good in low light. See? Yeah. It's awesome. I love it as a ground cover and it's just, oh man. And then, especially if you put it on the border and then you hit it with a weed whacker, it's just like so nice. Lemongrass, mint and comfrey, the best border plants ever. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good. Good. Good. Mints. Mints in the house. Um, um, yeah. I mean, you could. Okay. Good. Also under watering apparently. Okay. Yep.
34:20 Yep. Yep. Okay. Okay. Okay. Leaky bucket charging method. Cool. I guess, yeah. Josiah inspires a lot, man. Yeah. Josiah out there. You know, even though 3000 people have watched that. Getting out there. Um, okay. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Any other questions? I've seen that short vid lol. Okay. Question. Okay. Um, yeah. So let's, let's, let's go to that. Cause, um, so, so I did a video. So like I was saying, um, we go to my channel here, view my channel, coming to the channel and then down here, does it show latest videos? Maybe I gotta go to, oh, maybe I gotta go live actually.
35:05 How does that show? Yeah. So I was making this plant juice. Let's just watch it. Look how lagged it is, man. This is visible mobile for you, but can you use these? Today. Good K and F point food. So you can't even hear that. How laggy is it, man? I gotta get a better wifi out there or something. Cause look at this. I'm trying to show like live from my, um, I'm trying to show like live from my, um, my, my laboratory laboratory. Nice Cali dog. Good Cali dog. Mulching the grass. Good girl. Um, but I'm trying to show how to make it, but can you use the lemon food, the lemon ferment
35:42 that I made on any plant? You can just dilute it more. Um, sometimes that, and be careful. Look how lagged out and junk this is. No wonder. No wonder people don't tune in when I'm live out there cause I'm live in the office. It's great, but live in the workshop, it is not great, but kind of, you know, cutting up the lemon and then mixing with sugar, making a plant food. Super easy. Amazing thing. These lemons. I gotta go pour it off today. Cause when I did this, when, uh, when was this four days ago? Yeah. Perfect. It's time to pour off. I'm gonna go pour it off today.
36:14 Maybe I'll try and go live again. I doubt it's going to work. Maybe I got a point of wifi directly at me out there. I don't know. Make sure that my, um, but yeah, making this stuff out here. Um, can it be used on any plant? It's best on citrus, but it can, you, you just dilute it more. You don't want to burn things that sometimes the, um, citric acid can burn things. So do be careful. Um, all right, let's see here. Corn moss and rock dust. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. All these things, you know, you can do a bunch to make things fertile. Loading char into late thermophilic compost pile would work well.
36:53 I have. Yes. Yes. Yes. George to, to load your char into a compost pile. It's already going still steady at 46 degrees the last two to three weeks. Yes. That is a great way to inoculate your char, especially if you soak it in a little bit of water and nutrients first, and then put into your compost pile. Oh my gosh. The microbes are just going to go straight into your char and load themselves up because they're after those nutrients climbing in there. Um, yes. Yes. Do that. Do that. You're going to have the most amazing stuff. Okay. So why is it suggesting? Okay. Well, that's over.
37:33 Let's go back. It's over. Um, yeah, do that. Okay. That sounds like a really good idea. Char in the compost is amazing. Yes. Yes, indeed. Um, okay. Um, okay. Um, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Biochar. You can talk about it for days. We have already. Oh man, we're already 40 minutes in. We got to go with master Cho. I got to get through that. Yeah. Yeah. The, the live and then it cut off. It was crazy. Yeah. I said, ah, man, don't visible mobile box. I don't know. I was trying to like, you know, like 20 bucks a month. I don't know. I was trying to get a decent, but they suck. Um, okay. Yeah. Yeah.
38:13 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Good. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
