Drake says to avoid extreme exposure, but IMO4 in spore form holds up to freezing if it is fed food, minerals, and humic-fulvic acids before spring use. (Office Hours Ep. 15, 46:33)
That advice is for IMO4. The library says nothing about frozen IMO3 in particular.
- One viewer's 3-year-old collections, kept in a cool basement in totes with breathable lids, still made good piles. (Office Hours Ep. 113, 46:13)
- On the cedar chest, the library warns that some cedar species are antimicrobial and toxic, so check the tree first. (Office Hours Ep. 102, 28:36)
The library does not say whether a frozen IMO3 batch is still good, or how to test it.
