Small ohn
So I can only afford to buy one pound of angelica
and it says you need two parts so is there any chance someone has already reduced mr.cho’s down maybe where your using and half pound of each herb ? And the conversation of the other ingredients as well?
Top answer
OHN is made by volume and can be made in any size vessel, dry herbs are added to 1/10 the volume of the vessel then filled to 1/2 the vessel with beer let set for 2 days to rehydrate, brown sugar is then added to 2/3 the volume and left for 5 days to ferment, garlic and ginger is made like a FPJ and fill 2/3 the volume of the vessel and ferment for 5 days also, the last 1/3 is then filled with liquor ....so depending on the size of vessel you use determines how much OHN you have, i used 32oz jars to make my OHN and in the end had 3gal of OHN to use Note: by using smaller vessels we need to buy less liquor for the end process
Hope this helps you find the correct vessel to use to make your OHN

Drake's library gives the ratio and the jar method. It gives no half-pound version.
The final blend is one part each garlic, ginger, licorice and cinnamon to two parts angelica. (Office Hours Ep. 60, 45:25) The student manual makes each herb in its own jar. Dry herbs fill a jar 1/3 full, with two jars of angelica and one each of licorice and cinnamon. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 25) So angelica gets twice the herb of the others.
- Dry herbs soak two days in rice wine or beer. Then add brown sugar to bring the jar to 2/3 full. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 25)
- Fresh ginger and garlic take an equal weight of brown sugar in the manual. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 25) Drake says that is too much. He uses one-third sugar to material, ferments three days, then adds alcohol. (Office Hours Ep. 24, 45:23) The two sources disagree.
- Keep the extracts separate. Combine them in small batches as you use them. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 25)
The library does not give pounds per herb for a one-pound angelica batch.
