From the KNF library

From the KNF library Drafted by Claude from Office Hours and the books · Sep 2026 · 3 sources

The settled sugar layer is not usable as plant juice, per Drake. (Office Hours Ep. 133, 1:04:40) Scrape it out and bake cookies with it. The hormones, enzymes, and endophytes have already dropped out. (Office Hours Ep. 133, 1:04:40) That differs from the reply above, which says it hurts nothing.

Adding sugar to the point of supersaturation is the plan. The Pure KNF Manual says to let fermentation happen once, then saturate the liquid with sugar to stop it. (Pure KNF Manual, p. 38) For long-term storage, the library says to combine the FPJ with equal parts brown sugar. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 36)

The library does not say whether the liquid above the sugar is still worth using, or when to start a new batch.
