From the KNF library

From the KNF library Drafted by Claude from Office Hours and the books · Sep 2026 · 6 sources

The library's answer is no. Drake says OHN is a tincture, and it needs alcohol above 35% (Office Hours Ep. 12, 1:08:01).

Drake names three ways to tincture: water, fat, and alcohol. Each pulls out different compounds (Office Hours Ep. 12, 1:08:01). The alcohol in KNF medicine mainly carries it through the cell wall and solubilizes chlorophyll (Office Hours Ep. 152, 21:22).

The recipe uses alcohol at two steps. Dry herbs rehydrate in beer for two days, then vodka goes in (Cho's Solutions, p. 9). The student manual allows rice wine or beer for the first step and vodka or another alcohol for the last (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 25).

Drake also says nothing in KNF is absolutely required, and medicine helps digestion and immune system (Office Hours Ep. 35, 28:47). OHN is optional when making IMO4 (Office Hours Ep. 27, 51:12).

The library does not cover glycerin or any alcohol-free OHN recipe.
