How does OHN actually work?

Could you please explain how OHN actually operates? How does it selectively ward off certain biology while not damaging what as see as beneficial biology? Does it do this by building the immune system and if so, again..how does it selectively build immune systems in what is seen as beneficial and not in the biology that is seen as not beneficial?

The answer

From the KNF library

From the KNF library Drafted by Claude from Office Hours and the books · Sep 2026 · 6 sources

OHN is a mix of herbs. Its common function is aiding digestion and fighting pathogens. It is not a fixed ingredient list. (Office Hours Jan 2026, 24:21)

The Hawaii fact sheet says OHN is used to discourage the growth of anaerobic, potentially pathogenic microbes. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 21) Applied as a soil drench before planting, it activates dormant soil microorganisms. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 27)

Cho puts the effect on the crop. He says the herbs enhance the bodily strength of crops, so crops expel disease bacteria on their own. (Cho, Theory, p. 63) Another Cho text says the herbs increase plant robustness and sterilize. (Cho, Recipe, p. 24) Drake says the medicine helps digestion and the immune system. (Office Hours Ep. 35, 28:47)

The library does not explain how OHN tells harmful microbes from helpful ones. It also does not explain how OHN builds immune systems selectively.
