FPJ WITH THE BAMBOO SHOOTS
ALOHA
CAN ANY ONE DO FAVOR BY GUIDING ME IN PREPARATION OF FPJ WITH BAMBOO SHOOTS, SHOULD I ADD ANY OTHER COMBINATION PLANTS WITH BAMBOO SHOOTS, SHOULD I INCLUDE THE BAMBOO SHOOTS WITH BUDDING LEAFS OR SHOULD I USE INNER PARTS ONLY . WHAT IS THE BROWN SUGAR RATIO IS TO BE USED FOR MIXING.
Top answer
You can use all parts of the bamboo ...KNF Growth Food (FPJ) is made with 1 type of plant at a time this is cause the microbes that live on the plant are the ones you are looking for to break down that type of plant ...sugar ratios are the same when making KNF Food (FPJ) its about half the weight of the plant matter the only time it differs is when making KNF Sweet Food (FFJ) which is 1:1 by weight .....the shoots themselves i would cut in half

Drake's library adds these bamboo notes to the answers above.
- Pick thick, short shoots. Cho's recipe says to peel the skin once it turns brownish. (Cho, Recipe, p. 36)
- Another Cho page says to remove the soil but not the outer skin. The two pages disagree. (Cho, Recipe, p. 36) (Cho, Recipe, p. 33)
- Do not rinse the shoots. The microbes on them do the fermenting. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 32)
- Use bamboo alone. Never mix more than one plant per ferment. (Office Hours Ep. 19, 50:59)
- The university guide lists bamboo as shoot tips. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 32)
- Bamboo ferments fast, about five days. Left soaking too long, it can grow white mold. (Cho, Recipe, p. 36)
The library gives no sugar ratio for bamboo. It does not say whether to use inner parts only or to add budding leaves.
