The library has no personal favorites list from Drake for semi-tropical growers. It does name plants that fit.
Drake looks for fast-growing, vigorous plants that are in season. His examples are kudzu, sweet potato and comfrey. (Office Hours Ep. 63, 54:07)
The Hawaii extension guide lists purslane as shoot tips and noni as immature fruit. (Student's Manual, Basic Course, p. 32) Cho's manual adds bamboo shoot, arrowroot vine, sweet potato vine, cucumber, pumpkin and melon as plants whose growth points grow well. (Cho, Theory, p. 69)
Banana flowers and comfrey leaves do not depend much on gathering time. (Pure KNF Manual, p. 38)
Drake also says to match the plant to the goal. Use one plant per ferment. (Office Hours Ep. 19, 50:59)
The library does not rank these plants by climate.
