Took more sugar than I thought it would to get to 2/3rds mark on jar. Go’n with it. It’s cold weather here so I’m keeping it in a small dark room (not where pictured) and trying to keep the temp as steady as possible. Still fluctuates quite a bit though. (Not pictured(I forgot to take a pic) fresh Garlic and Ginger. Ended up with a little more than 2/3s on both. Minor adjustments made during first pour off to even out for other pour offs).

I used about 6 2/3rds Pabst blue ribbon to fill all four jars to 1/3 full

(11days into ferment. Their location fluctuates a good bit in temp). Very slight ferment smell. Lots of settled sugar at bottom of jar(added sugar at 1:1 ratio by volume). Smell is most d detectable in Licorice. (I SHOULD’VE TASTE TESTED FERMENT FOR ALCOHOL FLOVOR. Will do on second batch that is already 6 days into ferment(with no detectable smell) Used 1:1 ratio by weight instead of by volume in second batch. Did not make it to 2/3rds mark on jar, but no sugar settling out). Loving the challenge of teaching myself to tune into the process of midwifing these solutions, just as I have taught myself to tune into my plants. I can feel it bringing us closer together.

Lovely wilt + slight moisture appearing leaf surface as mixing with sugar. Next time I will add more material to begin with because after a day, it definitely settled below 2/3rds :(

I did this with my daughters class(3rd&4th graders). We talked about health, wealth and chemistry. The teacher had a great hot plate that worked so much better than the gas bbq I used last time. Took almost exactly 45 minutes to get a good toast and winnow off the membranes.

Smelled beautiful. Like Greek yogurt but with more depth to it(or more awareness put to the act of smelling than I ever had to smelling Greek yogurt).

    Cheap milk. Worked great.

I actually did this totally wrong at first. 2oz(by volume) Trader Joe’s Jasmin rice, 2oz water in 4oz jar, then poured 1.6ounces of wash directly into milk. I noticed my mistake so I put the milk, with lid back into fridge(rule zero!). Made fresh rice washed water and let sit for 5 days.

I felt it was right. I was so glad it was right. Been taking it internally as well as given 2 applications to indoor garden. The plants love it as much as I do!
