Jadam Pear & Grape Orchards, IMO Grading, Lime Sulfur

Drake opens with an I Ching reading on gathering together, then answers a KNF Support question: agar plates cannot collect IMO1 because agar is selective and won't culture the full diversity of soil microbes.

Viewer Jake Voss shares photos of his family's KNF setup, including four-month fuel (fish amino acid), IMO2, tinctures, and living vinegar. Drake grades the IMO collection a B/B-minus, calling it acceptable even though it was pulled a bit early. He also walks through dosing: solutions go in at 1:1000 (4 ml/gal) or 1:500 (8 ml/gal), combined into the nine vital solutions and seven prescriptions rather than mixed by old acronyms.

The back half is Jadam. Drake shows footage from Korea: a 100-year-old pear orchard revived with disgustingly cheap food and microbes after the farmer stopped cutting down old trees, and a grape house where one healthy vine outproduces a Sonoma-style vineyard planted every few feet. He also replays a lime sulfur demo that boiled over during a live Jadam course on Hawaiʻi Island.

Drake closes by telling a viewer (Rambo) to stop pruning and instead feed grape soil with JMS, disgustingly cheap microbes and food, and seawater diluted 1:30 for minerals, points to naturalfarminghawaii.net for chicken coop diagrams, and gives an update that Master Cho is last known to be wheelchair-bound.

Questions answered

  • 12:32 Can agar plates be used to collect IMO1 mycelium? — No — agar is selective and won't culture the diverse soil microbes real IMO needs.
  • 19:51 How old does fuel (fish amino acid) need to be before using it? — Use it as soon as it's liquid, but four months, six months, or a year old is even better.
  • 21:59 Is this IMO2 seed IMO collection good enough to use? — Yes, it's acceptable — a B/B-minus, pulled a little early but still fine to propagate.
  • 27:02 How much of each solution per gallon, and do I use less mixing two together? — Don't cut back — follow the book ratios, 1:1000 (4 ml/gal) or 1:500 (8 ml/gal), for each solution added.
  • 34:14 How did Jadam revive a 100-year-old Korean pear orchard? — The farmer stopped cutting old trees and fed the soil with disgustingly cheap food and microbes until they fruited again.
  • 42:56 Why does one Jadam grapevine out-produce a Sonoma-style vineyard? — One vine in living soil with no root competition beats rows of vines crowded every few feet in dead, sprayed soil.
  • 52:03 How is Jadam lime sulfur made? — Mix powdered sulfur with sodium hydroxide and water — it reacts fast and can boil over, so go slow and small.
  • 59:18 How do I make my grapes sweeter? — Don't prune — feed the soil with JMS, disgustingly cheap food and microbes, and seawater diluted 1:30 for minerals.
  • 1:00:03 Where can I find chicken coop diagrams for natural farming? — Check naturalfarminghawaii.net under livestock and chickens; the advanced chicken series product is out of stock right now.
  • 1:02:20 Any update on Master Cho? — Last heard he's wheelchair-bound — Drake asked viewers to keep him in mind.
