π’ Grant Writer & Funding Coordinator
Contract Position with Pure KNF Foundation
About This Role
We are seeking a Grant Writer & Fulfillment Contractor to identify and pursue institutional grant funding sources that align with our existing programs. This is an exploratory role focused on researching viable funding opportunities, matching them to our program needs, and testing grant applications as a growth pathway for our organization.
The successful candidate will use AI-powered tools throughout the entire grant lifecycle β from discovering relevant funding sources to drafting and submitting compelling applications.
While AI tools will accelerate research and drafting, you serve as the essential human verification layer to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with funder requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
π Grant Research & Matching (40%)
- Identify funding opportunities aligned with Pure KNF Foundation’s programs
- Use AI tools to search grant databases (HANO Hawaii, Foundation Directory, Candid, federal registries)
- Verify all AI-generated research by checking original sources
- Maintain a grant calendar with verified deadlines
βοΈ Application Preparation & Submission (40%)
- Prepare and submit grant applications using AI tools for drafting
- Review all content for accuracy before submission
- Target: at least 3 applications by end of Q3 2026
π Documentation & Learning (20%)
- Report to and coordinate with Board Grant Liaison
- Complete all required fulfillment reports for awarded grants
- Document lessons learned from each application
Compensation
Base: $2,500 total for 2026, payable in milestone installments.
Grant-Funded: You’re expected to include reasonable administrative costs in grant applications (10-20% is typical). If grants are awarded, those funds compensate you for ongoing management β creating alignment between your success and ours.
Required Qualifications
- Experience writing grant applications for nonprofit organizations
- Proficiency using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) for research and drafting
- Clear understanding of AI limitations and verification requirements
- Strong attention to detail and fact-checking habits
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial reporting and grant compliance
Preferred
- Experience with Hawaii funders (Hawaii Community Foundation, County programs, state agencies)
- Knowledge of agricultural, environmental, or educational funding
- Understanding of sustainable agriculture or Korean Natural Farming

About Pure KNF Foundation
Pure KNF Foundation is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit teaching Korean Natural Farming (KNF) techniques using indigenous microorganisms and natural inputs. Established in 2019, we have trained approximately 2,000 individuals in sustainable agriculture practices over 18 years.
Our programs include Office Hours educational broadcasts (51,000+ hours of view time), an agricultural drone program, research initiatives spanning multiple continents, and a practitioner certification program launching in 2026.
